The Easter Weekend...

The easter weekend was a busy one for me. I had to work on Good Friday, so unlike many others, I didn't get the longgg weekend off. Thank God I was working the day shift though (no pun intended... hehe).

I drove back to Melbourne straight after work... and my nice consultant actually let me off early cause he knew I had a family dinner to attend. Jon's aunts were here in Melbourne, and his dad decided to take them out for dinner... and me, oh well... I was just tagging along for free food. Hahahah... ok, kidding...

We had dinner in King's Jade in Doncaster, and my gosh! did we have a feast! I reckon we ordered enough food to feed the whole of Africa! I was stuffed up to my head, cause the food was sooo yummy!!

As we got home, we got a call from Bharat, who's back from Scotland for hols, to catch up over a cuppa. And since we weren't that tired, we decided to meet up with him for drinks that night.

Drinks with Bharat @ Coco Lounge, Glen Waverley. It just seems like the place to go to catch up with him. We had drinks with him here too, before he left for Glasgow a year ago.

Glenny's close to home, and Coco Lounge has nice ambience... We couldn't be stuffed driving into the city at 10 o'clock at night, so we settled for one of the few places that was opened on Good Friday.

We spent the whole night catching up on gossips that the waitresses had to kinda politely tell us that they were closing. The other chairs and tables have all been stacked up. tee hee hee... It was good seeing Bharat again! He's always so animated, and has soooo much to say!

It was funny hearing him question us medical people, for he... like Jon, is dating a doctor too! Hahaha...

Went to the city with him on Saturday, cause he wanted to do some shopping before returning to Scotland. He was looking for some winter jacket, and since winter's coming, all the new collections are available now! And we, of course took the opportunity to do some shopping too! :P I bought a top from Cue as Myer's on sale (50% off! Woohoo!)... and a jacket from A/X.

It was birthday dinner time that night... Well, not my birthday yet, but since I was going to celebrate with Jon on Sunday, his family decided to take me out for dinner on Saturday instead.

We went to Okra Restaurant on Camberwell Road, Hawthorn East. The food was yummy, and the price quite reasonable. They serve a variety of Asian / Fusion cuisince. Some typical stuff, and some... quite creative. So far, reviews on the restaurant have been pretty good...

The ambience was nice too, casual yet quiet enough to talk without having to shout into each other's ears...

After dinner, we went back to Cle's (Jon's uncle) house for a cuppa...

Us just chilling...

And they surprised me with a cake!!! How nice of everyone! I wasn't expecting them to get me a cake, really.... I reckon treating me to dinner was awesome enough!

Yesh, happy birthday to me! :P I'm 18 again! Hahaha.

Remy trying to escape from the family shot! Such a naughty boy he has become.... sigh.

And this little boy was trying to coax us into giving him a piece of cake too! Just look at that cutesy face of his!!

Who can deny him a piece of cake when he acts all cute and stuff? Sigh.... he's sooo manipulative!

--------------------------------

Easter Sunday was pretty hectic too! Basically, we didn't spend much time at home the whole weekend~!

Caught up with Ash for lunch. Yes, he too has returned from Brissy for the easter weekend. :D Whee~! Don't you just love holidays, when everyone's back to see their family and friends... Provided you're not rostered to work, of course!

Sunday night was spent at Italy 1, Camberwell... Jon tricked me into believing that he was going to bring me to Grill'd (this healthy burger place) for my birthday dinner! I didn't believe him of course. That's why I still put on a dress :D ehhehe.

We've never been to Italy 1, but he's heard good reviews on the place, he's decided to try it... since it's convenient, and not too far from home... But it was a good choice though, cause the food's pretty good!

I had the grilled duck, and Jon ordered the Osso Buco. Sorry, no pics as we were both quite hungry and gobbled down our dinner... Only kidding! I actually forgot I had the camera in my bag until after dinner.

So I managed to whip it out for a pic of our dessert. :D

YUM!!! Priceless shot of Jon sthufffiing himself silly with our chocolate dessert. hehehe. :P

I don't know what he was trying to do. i think he was attempting to take an "artsy" shot of some body parts.... and I just cracked up!

Silly... but we had a good time! I definitely had a wonderful time~! Thanks baby, for the thoughtful weekend... and thanks everyone, for the messages, phone calls....

and pressies.... :)

Love you guys heaps!

XOXO

Bits of random stuff...

Time flies!

Addy & Mei - post dinner. See the tan? I'm soooo much browner than her!

It has certainly been awhile since I last caught up with anyone, really... I managed to meet up with Addy on Tuesday, cause we both had days off, and decided to have lunch in Camberwell. It was good catching up with her, cause we were just discussing how different our lives are now.
Before, when we did stuff, it'll always be a whole group of us... almost 8 of us really! We'd have our weekly Friday dinner and drinks sessions... our regular movie sessions with prepaid 9 dollars tickets from the student union, our late night drinking sessions, hotpot parties, birthday surprises...etc.

But now, everyone's busy with their own schedules. Even if it's a public holiday, someone would be working... and even if they're not, they'll be miles away, in a different state now, or perhaps... even in a different country! Soon enough, we'd only be seeing each other on their wedding days, or perhaps... their baby shower...

Addy and I - almost choking Remy boy... hehehehe

It's sad but true, I guess.... that when you move on with life, sometimes, you move on with your friends as well... Different things start to take precedence over socialising.... like essential sleep, for example! Or family... or even just some alone reading time?

But we also realise that, in this journey of life... someone, at some point in time, will always be walking with you... Like Liverpool says, "You'll never walk alone".

I just finished watching "I Am Sam" on tele... and it's soooo true that with determination, comes success... When there is a will, there is a way, because love... knows no boundary!
I love you guys, gang! I miss ya all...

I miss the good old days...

Pinch yourself on the cheeks!

I guess it's true that you have to somehow, lose something, before you really know how great it is.
Being in Traralgon the past couple of weeks made me realise how much I miss my boy, and my littler boy...

Being home, although not having done much, just brings a smile to my face.
Cooking a simple home cooked meal... and have him appreciate it sooo much that he asked for extra rice! AND brought the left overs for lunch the next day...
Makes me smile from within.

Just being with my doggie, seeing him so happy to see me.
Jumping up and down, running amok... and then plonking himself in bed next to me so I can give him tummy rubs. Makes me feel that I've been missed...
Makes me smile from within.

Being back at home, although not as huge as the place I have in Traralgon...
Feels so comfortably familiar.

And all this warmth... all this love I feel...
is PRICELESS.
That sometimes, I doubt myself if it's all real.

And tonight, we're heading into the city after work! To celebrate his new job, to celebrate our new "friday nights" routine... Now that he's the new supply manager(Congrats baby!) for the new company (Way closer to the city) - we're gonna paint the town red again!

This is just the start of many good things to come. I know it :D

All I need now, is to teleport my family over!

A true gold class experience...

Since I'm working in Traralgon now... we don't really get to see each other that much... So, last week, Jon and I decided to treat ourselves to something nice... We left Remy at his mom and dad's, and went to Knox for dinner and a movie.

Not just another movie, but a gold class experience at the movies! Yes, Cle bought us gold class tickets for Christmas, which we haven't really had the chance to use...

The gold class lounge, where you can order your food / drinks (yes, including alcoholic drinks like wine, and cocktails) - which will all be brought out to you during the screening time.

The gold class lounge... with huge posters of some famous superstars in the industry.

We went to catch 10,000 BC. The movie was okay, but the experience was good. The last time I actually watched a movie in gold class was about 5 years ago? Probably even a little bit longer than that! heheheh...

The seats have improved from what I remember... They are now electronically controlled! Which is wonderful for someone tiny like me! It used to be a little difficult, cause you'd have to use your body weight to recline the couches...but not any more!!!

Just press a little button, and Wahlaa!! You can customize it to however you want it.... and no more someone at the back of you, with super long legs.... who keeps pushing on the back of your seat! Oh how annoying!!!

It was a good night for us. We had some alone time... *not that we don't love you, Remy! Of course we do heaps!* Took strolls together, had dinner... and enjoyed a movie together. :)

Oh how you miss the simple things in life, once you start getting bogged down with work :(

Last year was good, cause I didn't have to open a book once, and study for any exams... but this year, I'll probably have to bury myself in books later in the year... cause I think I'll be sitting for an exam... we shall see....

ps: The pics are grainy, cause they were taken with my crappy camera phone...

Of bottled up work frustration...

Nurses, don't you just love them, but hate them at the same time??

I had a perfectly good shift yesterday,
until some d*ckhead nurse that thinks he's-all-that ruined it for me.
I don't think he was very happy that I stood up for myself,
justifying what I wanted to do and why.
Furthermore, he didn't need to be nosey anyway.
He wasn't working in that section, and was meant to be triage-ing. Durrrr...

---------------

Scenario: High speed rollover MVA. Female patient in twenties presented with neck pain, backpain, flank pain.

He: Can she go for X rays now? Have you written up the slip?
She: Yes, the slip's written. But she can't go until she does a wee. Cause I need to check for blood and Bhcg to make sure she's not pregnant.
Patient: Oh, I'm not pregnant. I'm on the pill.
He: She just did a wee before, after triage. It will be awhile before she can do another. So can she go for X rays?
She: And you didn't dipstick it? And No, she can't go for X rays yet. *like durrr! but I didn't say durrr of course! Durrr :P * I still need to make sure she's not pregnant before I scan her!
He: **gives her the eye!**
She: **like what-evaaa! Like I care whether you shoot me the stare. Ooohh.... I'm so scared I'm pissin' my pants, sucka~!** (obviously, I didn't say those too! What? Do you think I'm some rude ass doctor?)

then....

He: Why are we cannulating her?
She: Cause she needs analgesia? AND I'm not gonna wait hours for her to produce a urine sample, and then wait again for X rays. She's in severe pain, and I will push fluids into her if she still complains that she can't gimme a sample.
He: She can have some Panadeine Forte?
She: Yes, she can. But she has a C-collar on, and she can't sit up... AND if anything shows on the scan, she might be going to theatre, so we'll keep her nil by mouth for now.
He: Okayyy... *walks away, obviously frustrated*
She: *cannulates the patient* (Nobody asked you for help in the first place).

In the end, the patient was not pregnant, and she went for her X rays anyway... but my point is, people have been chucked into CT scans before when they were pregnant! And the result.... NOT pleasant~! And who's arse will be in trouble then? Not yours, but mine!

This ain't an immediate life threatening situation! (she was stable, not bleeding out from all orifice, mind you). So just f*cking lay off and lemme do my job, and you get back to the triage area and do yours!

Just don't forget to bring your brains to work next time!

We still had to CT her in the end, cause we couldn't clear her neck solely based on the X rays. She was indeed very tender midline, and the consultant felt that it was appropriate to CT her.

Were you gonna be responsible if she was indeed pregnant? I don't think so! So just lemme do my job...

---------------------------

Disclaimer: This is a once-off situation, with a nurse I don't normally work with. I do have alot of respect for nurses, and I do get along very well with them, thank you very much! If anything, sometimes, I do find them more competent than some doctors! *no names mentioned here, but some of them didn't even know how to do a log roll!* Like, Urrr... you're all supposed to stand OPPOSITE me, NOT BESIDE me?!

I can understand why the nurses questions their decision sometimes, and intimidates them, but I assure you... that I can't be pushed around like them, and I will stand up for myself, even to the consultant. And yes, I will admit that I'm wrong, if I am... and learn from it, even if it means I have to learn from you.

So yes, I can't stress again that I have nothing against competent nurses. We need them, if anything... cause they just make your working life wayyy easier. But thank you very much, I think I can manage this without you breathing down my neck.

And yay!! I'm on a day off today... back to see my boys! You can attempt to boss around someone else, cause I won't be around! Woohoo!
