I've missed you... and a photo from One of Each

Hi old friend. :)
I've missed you. I've missed us. I've missed our late nights of blogging and watching the bachelor...
Well it just so turns out I am catching up on some Bachelorette....hehe (I love me some good old fashioned reality tv drama) and editing photos. (something I haven't done in a long time!)

I guess it's been so long  because I've been preoccupied.... Last year, and even a few months ago, I was still thinking I was going to continue doing the photography business. Somewhere between last October and now I realized it is time to do something I have wanted to do for a very long time, something that I never felt like was attainable for me. So I've been preoccupied. I have been busy taking classes. Classes about crazy people (aka abnormal psychology) and classes about how to hold a paintbrush (aka watercolor). I have also been stressing out like crazy with some big decisions ahead of me. So I may start sharing a few new things here.... or maybe not. I'm not sure how to decide what goes on which blog.... I guess we will see. But I still have tons of photos I still need to share and I am still shooting... but more for me. :) there will be photos of some art (besides photos, but some paintings) coming up!

I'm editing photos from a shoot back in February.... It's hard to admit because I should have done them so long ago. I guess this is a little sneak peak since I have some more editing to do on these. I took photos for this amazing company called "One of Each." I will have to share more about them later. :)

Newborn photos: Baby E

Dang! It's been so long since I've blogged. I am way over due... Maybe someday I'll explain why. But today I just want to share photos from a newborn shoot I did a little while ago for my dear friend April. You may remember her maternity session. Well I am happy to introduce you to her sweet Baby E. And what a good sleeper! :) hehe.

2011 International Conference on Food Styling and Photography 1.3

I was going to post these by day..... but honestly it was so stinkin' long ago I can't even remember when everything happened. Let's call this day three. I don't think I took my camera on day two.

Who would go to a food styling and photography conference planning on not eating....? Yours truly!
Because I spent all the money I had just getting to the conference, I had originally planned on not spending any money on food while in Boston. I had decided that I was going to find the closest grocery store and stock up on fruit and granola bars. It was apparent the first night how silly and foolish of an idea that was.  Instead I ate my little heart out and loved every minute of it!

The conference held a super expensive dinner the third night and, honestly, it sounded kinda snarky. So I didn't sign up for the fancy 5 course dinner where, as advertised, I would get to rub elbows with the best photographers and stylists in the industry. Instead a few of us had our own fancy dinners at Dick's Last Resort, and Legal Sea Foods. Here we are enjoying our better-than-five-course dinner at Legal Sea Foods.

I have to give a shout out to Noah Whitenoff of NuStyling, a food stylist in Montreal, and Elizabeth Tichenor of Elizabeth Tichenor Photography, based in California. I loved hanging out with these insanely talented people.

The best part of going to a food styling and photography conference is being able to take pictures of my food and every other thing in sight without the dirty looks and annoyed comments. They love and accept me the way I am... sniff sniff. tear.

Spring Break in Lava Hot Springs

This photo is so bad you can barely tell what it is but it holds some great memories. Last year Sydney and I took a road trip to Lava Hot Springs. We spent the day soaking up the sun and the hot water, had burgers and ice cream in the diner down the street and ate tons of junk food on the drive. I still haven't figured out what to do this year on zero budget.....

Shot on my holga.
If I remember correctly the film wasn't winding so I tried to fix it in a locker in the dressing room with my camera wrapped in our sweaters..... It seemed like a good idea at the time.... hahaha!

Elijah

This is sweet little Elijah. And he is really sweet just not to me...
He has two older brothers, so he has learned to fight back and he is pretty feisty! Anytime I try to talk to him or even love him better if he falls he just pushes me away. hahahah! But I think that has more to do with the disdain he has for me....
But doesn't he have the most beautiful eyelashes...

eggs

Sometimes film gives you these beautiful happy accidents that  you never get with digital. And most people would think they are bad but I secretly love them.
More eggs from my brothah on film. These eggs are from last summer, but nowadays everything I post is.... more on why everything I post is from last year, later!

Spaghetti with Braised Kale

Kale?! Yes please! This has quickly become my favorite dish right now. My mom found a recipe that actually makes kale taste good! And I have been craving it so much lately....  The health benefits make it even better! fiber, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, cardiovascular support, vitamin K, A and C. I wonder if maybe all the  Parmesan cheese I load it with cancels out all the healthiness of the kale.... hehe
