Rekindled
For those of you who don't know, I am not a big reader. I used to love to read books and then after high school and college I got burned out on reading books that I didn't even care for but had to read. My husband is a big reader and has books all the time he is reading. I wish that I could do that but it usually just doesn't happen with me. By the time I have time to read a book I usually just want to go to bed or just relax. I also have a bad habit of starting a book and then not finishing it. But when we went on our trip a month ago I wanted to take a book to read on the plane. My mom loaned me a book called Rekindled. She hadn't read it yet but my Grami had and really liked it. So, I started the book but didn't get it all read. When we got home it sat on my shelf sure to be the next unfinished book. This last week though I was determined to finish the book. It was a good story and I was really enjoying it and I had to know how if turned out. So, I read it and finished it last night! Now for me this is an accomplishment, haha. My hubby even made jokes to our lil man that "Mommy is actually reading, I didn't know she knew how!" If you are looking for a good love story you should check it out. It is about a married couple who have a struggling marriage but get a second chance. It tells about all their individual struggles and how they get to know each other better than they had ever thought possible in an unlikely way. So, there is my book review for the month......maybe year ;)

15 months already
Well, our lil man is growing up so fast and is already 15 months. Where does the time go? I feel like yesterday he was just a baby in my arms. We went to the dr yesterday for his 15 mo check up. Let me tell you how much I love going to the dr. It never fails that our dr is always running behind. So, when we got there I asked how far behind he was. 20 min was the answer. I thought hey that's not bad. Lil man was in a good mood playing w/his toys, smiling at all the other patients, trying to run away from me and then laughing really big. We waited and waited and waited and after 45 min we get called back but of course we have to wait in there another 15 or so min. After an hour of waiting the dr finally walks in. By this point lil man is ready to go. He has played w/the toys in the diaper bag, seen what he wants to see and been told no by Mommy at every little thing he wanted to touch. Needless to say the visit was not that great. We love our dr and the girls have been w/him since our middle daughter was a baby but an hour is a long time for anyone to wait and especially children. He received one shot and as he was screaming we left. It wore Mommy out.
The dr did have a good report and said that he looked great. He is 24.3lbs and 31" long and in the 50% for both weight and height. The dr said he should be saying around 4-6 words that other people can recognize and 20 or so that we can understand. He definitely is talking up a storm. When he starts to whine, my hubby and I tell him to use his words. It is so cute because he will stop whining and say something we just usually can't understand it. Watching him figure things out and say new things is so much fun.

Big Boy
Our lil man thinks he is big stuff. One of his cousins has a chair and lil man loves it. He just thinks he is so big when he sits in it. The other day my hubby saw that a chair like that one was on sale at Target. So, we went to get it and lil man just smiled from ear to ear and got so excited. We put it in his room and he loves to crawl up in his chair and just smile. Since he also loves books he thinks he is big by sitting and reading. Here are a couple of pics. They are a lil blurry because he moves around so much!

Yesterday we went to our oldest's tennis meet. Lil man was so good and played so well. It is such a long time for anyone watching and especially someone his age. Lil man and his sisters were sitting at a picnic table and I just had to take a pic. After several trys we finally got one that was good. Good thing for Memaw, Mom and Dad's sunglasses.
Our oldest did great at the meet and placed 1st! We were so proud of her. She played well and has improved so much since last year. During sis's 2nd to last match lil man and our middle daughter went to Memaw's house to play. Looking for rocks and playing at Memaw's is so much more fun than a tennis meet. Thanks so much mom for letting me stay and watch our oldest!
Have a blessed weekend!!

Cute Moments
Our lil man definitely tests the waters now days but also has such cute moments. One of my favorite cute moments is when he wants his Daddy. He gives his Daddy a BIG hug and pats him on the back. It's just so cute. Another cute moment happened this morning. He was sitting w/Daddy and our middle daughter came upstairs to wait for the bus. He got down from Daddy went over to his Big Sis and wrapped his arms around her legs and gave her a big hug. It was so cute because he did it all on his own w/no prompting from us. I think those are the moments that are cutest when kids do something all on their own. It gives you comfort to know that they must be listening to you some.
Our oldest had her 1st tennis meet on Monday. She did great and placed 3rd in the Varsity meet. We were so proud of her. I did think that my hubby was going to come unglued at the beginning though. The only match she lost was her 1st one. We got there shortly after she had begun. My hubby had been there a lil longer and told me that she was up but now she wasn't playing well. As the game continued he started getting more upset and telling me how she wasn't even trying. So, after she gets done and loses he is just about to leave when she comes up to us and is upset because she knew she could have won until the strings on her racket broke! That made us feel better that the reason for the change in the game was her strings broke. Then she told us she forgot her backup racket. My hubby remained calm and just shook his head. Luckily she borrowed her friend's extra racket. It was the first time she had ever broke her strings and also the first time she hadn't brought her backup. Learning experiences for everyone :)
Our middle daughter is going strong in dance. She started ballet this summer and really likes it. She has ballet twice a week and jazz once. We can tell she really likes it because if she isn't doing homework she wants to dance. They are supposed to practice and take practice notes once a week to class. I'm not sure what the other girls are like but I know she practices more than I ever did. She will practice 1 hour easy every day, and the other day when she was out of school she spent the whole day at my parent's house in the dance room. I'm just glad she really likes it. It definitely is an investment and good to know it's worth it when they invest in something as well.
Hope everyone is having a blessed day!

Time for Change
Well, since we are back from Jamaica I figured it was time to change the background. The tropical theme was making me miss Jamaica so here is the change. It is crazy how getting back in the routine of things can take a while. We got back Saturday night, my Great Grandma's funeral was on Monday so I didn't even get to touch the suitcases until Tues. Which drove me nuts! And the laundry seemed like it was never going to end. I am very thankful that our oldest does her own laundry :) But now a week after the fact we are back in the routine of school, dance, tennis and what ever else comes up along the way.
I want to thank all of you for your kind comments about my Grandma Day. I am blessed to have such loving family and friends that surround me. I pray that you all have a wonderful blessed day!
Until later....

Jamaica
Well, I know this post is a week over due but w/our hectic schedule and trying to get back to normal it took a lil longer than I thought it would. We made it safely to Jamaica and had a great week. The weather was great and only rained all day once. So, we made the best of it and went shopping. The guys had fun scuba diving and got to go 4 days and had a lot of fun. The Dive Masters gave us girls a hard time and called us chickens. But we were just fine w/that and spent that time laying on the beautiful beach. Another couple and us had gone on our honeymoon's at this same place so it was fun to see how much it had changed. There were a couple of changes that we didn't like but the new addition they added on was very nice. It was great having a week away to refresh. Also, it made it easier being away from the kids since it was a couples only resort there were no kids running around making me think of our 3 kids. My hubby and I got upgraded to a new room because they had a scheduling conflict. We were fine w/that and had a beautiful view of the ocean. We spent some nights out on the balcony enjoying the sound of the waves. At the resort there were different restaurants that had different types of food. It was an all inclusive resort so all the food was included which made it nice if you tried something and didn't like it you could just try something else. The restaurants were also fun because some of them served several courses which is definitely a change from what we are used to. It was nice to get away but nice to get back too. Lil man had never been away from Daddy and I for longer than 3 days so I was wondering how he would act when we got back. He had a huge smile and gave me a huge hug. He is such a Daddy's boy but wanted just Mommy. It was really cute because that night we got back he would cuddle w/me for a lil bit smile and then go cuddle w/Daddy smile and cuddle some more. The next morning he woke up and looked at both of us and smiled really big. He was like a lil kid at Christmas. We had a lot of fun w/the couples that went and are blessed to have them in our lives. I have posted more pics on my other site mdsvantagepoint. But here are a few.
This is all of us out at dinner one night.

My Great Grandma
My Great Grandma was a GREAT Grandma. She was a strong, Pioneer woman who loved w/her whole soul. Here are a few memories I have of my Great Grandma. When my sister and I were young, Grandma Day would come up to babysit us while my parents had a date night. One of those times she suggested we go eat at Dog N Shake. So we loaded up into the front seat of her "boat" of a car and headed on our way. After we got done she asked us how to get home. We had of course no idea. So we thought we were lost. We drove around for a while and we finally made it home. To this day I am not really sure if we were really lost or she was just making an adventure for the day. One thing I know is that still a favorite memory of mine.
Another thing about my Grandma Day was her love. When I met my husband he already had 2 wonderful girls. My family welcomed all of them w/open arms and my Grandma Day was no exception. She loved those girls like she had known them their whole lives. Our oldest and Grandma would sit at the table and talk and talk. And although our middle child was shy and quiet Grandma never left her out.
My last memory is of Grandma and lil man. Since lil man knew how to wave he would always find Grandma and wave to her. One of the first things he would do when we got to my grandparent's house would be to go over to the couch where Grandma lay and wave. She would wave back and say hello. It was the cutest and sweetest thing to me. On Sunday night at the viewing lil man saw Grandma and waved one last time. Although he won't remember her that is a story I will tell him so he never forgets.
My Grandma Day was a great woman who loved all of her family and was blessed to be surrounded by them her whole life.
