A TEXAS Size Cupcake!

My feet hurt tonight. Today I spent the day demo-ing at Sur La Table in Dallas. SLT is one of my favorite trade partners. The store was extremely busy since this is the last weekend of a special promo. They have all their holiday stuff out and it's really cute. You can't imagine how difficult it is to be forced to spend hours in a kitchen specialty store. It's torture for me because I want everything! The neatest thing that caught my eye was a new GIANT or should I say Texas Sized Cupcake pan by Wilton. These are extremely popular since there is such a cupcake craze right now.

The pan has two sections, the bottom and top. One regular cake mix fills both. You assemble the cupcake by spreading a thin layer of icing in between the halves and just decorate. This pan can be used for just about any occassion.

You can see the pan on the SLT website by clicking HERE.

Check out http://www.cupcakefun.com/ for a bunch of great ideas for many different themes.

Here are pictures of two completed cupcakes from the SLT website. (sorry I could not enlarge more)

Game of Life: Twists & Turns Edition

Last week I mentioned there was a new Game of Life from Hasbro Toys coming soon. I am sure you all thought, why in the world is Martha posting this. Well, now I can tell you more.

From time to time I do work for different public relations companies. This latest assignment was "delivering" big huge baskets of goodies and The new Game of Life: Twists & Turns to local radio personalities.

This new edition gives players a chance to choose how they want to live their life by giving them four different path to take throughout the game –

“Love it” = family, “Live it” = adventure, “Earn it” = money/career, “Learn it” = education.

The game is now available at mass retailers.

Cooking with Dave Lieberman

Last month I had some problems with my camera and my memory card, luckily my little brother's friend Mike who knows alot about computers & stuff was able to recover some pictures that I had never had a chance to download. Amongst the "archives" were pictures taken during my freelance gig with Dave Lieberman from Dave Does on the Food Network and Frito Lay.

Frito Lay was launching the release off their chips made with SunFlower Oil and teamed up with Dave to promote dips (to go with the chips) from his new cookbook "Dave Dinners". We did three events... a special apprearance at the Frito Lay Headquarters in Plano, a segment on the morning show at CBS channel 11 and another special appearance at a local grocery store where he autographed cookbooks, did a quick cooking show and Frito Lay gave away lots of prizes.

I was responsible for making all of Dave's recipes for all three events.

Dave was really a nice guy... just as outgoing as you see him on tv. At the end he gave me one of his books and even autographed it for me. Isn't that cool!

Sunday, July 1

I had a food styling assignment with the American Lamb Board recently. The celebrity Chef was Tim Love. Tim was promoting the use of lamb for grilling on Father's Day. We did two local tv shows, Good Morning Texas at the local ABC affiliate and NBC 5 Morning Show. It's really hard to see but those are my linens and dinnerware on the set.

Here's a close up of the kabobs right before grilling.
