Petrified Forest

Today I headed to the Petrified Forest with Rhett's class.  Ms. Meyer is his teacher as you can see in the back ground.  Us on the bus ride over there.

It was a very windy, stormy day.  We huddled behind this cement wall to eat lunch and try to get out of the wind a little bit.

Hiking down the Blue Mesa trail.
Me and my Rhett Man!  There was supposed to be a track meet today and I couldn't decide if I should to with Rhett or stay here fore the track meet.  Rhett really wanted me to go.  I was SO glad I did.  He told me about 5 times thanks for going with him.  He is such a sweet boy.  I loved every minute I got to spend with him.  The only time he let me out of his sight was when we went to the bathroom!
Rhett and classmates hugging a piece of petrified wood.
Our little group:  Rhett, Jordan and Jarom.
Rhett showing how heavy this piece is.  He informed me he could hold it way higher than this.  It was really really windy as you can see from hair.  We had to be careful to not blow off the trail.
The wind was tolerable until it blew sand then it hurt.  Then the rain started.  With the rain and wind it hurt.  We still had a really fun day.  The kids were great and loved it.

Mogollon Jr. High Track

Our track season is almost coming to a close.  Here are a few pictures from the home track meet last week.  Bridget doing the long jump. 11 ft 6 1/2 was her PR.
Dustin doing the shot put, he got 2nd. 25 ft 5 inches was his PR.
Dustin long jump.  12 ft 4 inches was his PR.
 Bridget 4 X100 relay.
Dustin running the mile.  His fastest mile time was 7:29
Our track stars!  Rhett can't wait until next year when he can do track.

Easter Happenings

We had our traditional Easter activities this year.  Coloring Easter eggs.

Every year we have a "Golden Egg".  It is always the best to find the golden egg.

Friday the girls and I went to Mesa for the Easter breakfast at Grandma Nena's house.  It is a favorite for the kids every year.  Dustin and Rhett had a birthday party to go to Friday night and Dustin had a fishing trip with the YM so they both decided to stay home with Bruce.  It was a hard decision for them. Tylinn and Kaylee looking to see what was in their eggs.
A visit from the cute Easter Bunny.

All of this stuff is fun and it is fun spending time with family but I love the reason we have Easter and are able to dwell on the Savior and the Resurrection.

State Science Fair

The beginning of April these kids got to go down to the valley for the State Science Fair.  It was these 3 girls (Kessiah, Olivia, and Bridget)

 and Ben.
They went down Monday night and checked their boards in.  Went to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner and to the motel to swim.  They had a blast.  Ben's mom is the Science teacher so she went and stayed with Ben in a motel room and these other 3 girls were next door on their own.  Tuesday morning they went to the Fair and stood around waiting for judges to talk to them about their projects.  They spent the day there, ate at Red Robin and headed for home.

Here is Bridget's board -
She ended up doing pretty good.  She got 4th place at state!  She was excited!  So i think we are officially finished with Science Fair Projects until next year and then there will be 2 kids that have to do them.
I think Tylinn is in love!!

I had to add this one more picture from the anniversary party.  Too cute!

Happy 50th

Friday we went to Joseph City and had a 50th wedding anniversary celebration for these two.  Bruce's parents
Bruce with his brothers and sisters
Twila had somebody there taking pictures and of everybody who came.
Not too sure who these kids are for sale.....
 Us having chatting with Mark.
Bruce's mom's wedding dress with Bob's coveralls.  He wears coveralls all the time.
It was a good party and I am excited for these two making it this far in life!
Wednesday we headed toward Payson for a hike.  We ended up going up a canyon in Star Valley we have been up before looking for some matatas (sp?). After a little detour we found them.

We had a fun time hiking and then went into Payson for some lunch and shopping.

Our Spring Break we didn't do anything great and wonderful but we did get to do  few fun things.  Monday the kids and I spent all day in their bedroom.  We clean and threw away.  Man that feels good!  Tuesday we took the Horn boys out and had a hot dog roast up the canyon.  It was fun and makes me want to go camping!
