Pinewood Derby 2011

Rhett's pinewood derby was last night. Dustin is too old so that was only 1 car for Bruce and the boys to build. Here Rhett is carefully putting it on the track. Rhett watching all the competition.
Rhett happy after he won a race.
Rhett's car ended up taking 3rd place. It was a fast car but I guess not fast enough to beat the Tenney's cars. Bruce pretty much knew it wasn't a first place car - he has too many other thing going on and didn't spend too much time on this one. So when you pretty much know you won't be getting 1st isn't not too disappointing....way better then thinking you will take 1st and get 3rd. Rhett was happy and had lots of fun!

Kaylee Dear Kaylee

This little girl is the sweetest little thing but man she has had one thing after another with her since she was born. She started when she was 2 days old with an ear infection, fought that for 8 months, got tubes, was allergic to about every kind of food out there, had hand- foot- mouth disease etc..... Two weeks ago today is when she had her tubes again and adenoids out. Last week I took her to our doctor in Snowflake - Dewitt- for a well child check so she could get shots for kindergarten. At that visit he informed me she has Asthma. So we are doing the inhaler night and morning and doing breathing treatments for that. She has felt crummy the last while just telling me all the time she doesn't feel good. Saturday she had a little fever and said the side of her neck hurt. I looked at it and there is a big bump. Today was her follow up appointment from her surgery 2 weeks ago with the ENT. He looked at the bump on her neck and didn't like the looks of it at all. He is hoping it is an infected cyst (SP?) but said even if that is what it is it's going to have to be removed sometime. So he put her on antibiotics so hopefully it will get rid of the infection. I guess we will see next week when I take her back what is going on. Thankfully nothing with her has been a huge deal but I just keep thinking we are at the end of doctors with her for a while but she can't seem to stay away. We sure love the little girl!

Ear Infections No More (I hope)

Today Kaylee got tubes in both ears, her adenoids out and the doctor ended up cauterizing her tonsils a little to stop infection with those. Here she is after we got her dressed before she went to the Operating Room.

Trying on her mask that will help her go to sleep.

After the surgery. She was crying when I went back saying she had a bad dream. She was trying to take the IV out and wouldn't leave her oxygen sensor thing on her finger. After we got her calmed down she drank some apple juice and ate a Popsicle.

Here is a picture of her IV in her little hand - I was sad but I am so thankful things went good and she was able to get this done. She just finished up her doses of antibiotic on Wednesday and the doctor said both ears were really infected and there was tons of puss - so it definitely needed done.

Elder Cook

Today was Stake Conference. We were very fortunate to have Elder Cook with us. We got home about 1:00 this morning from Rachel and Adam's wedding stuff, crawled in bed after getting a fire built and a few things out of the van. We headed to the church a little before 8:00 this morning so we could shake Elder Cook's hand. With our stake being so big they broadcast conference here so we weren't going to be able to see him. Pres. Farr said he would be in our building at 8:30 this morning to shake hands, we didn't want to miss this opportunity - especially for our kids. He shook each of our hands and asked the kids what their names were. He mentioned to Dustin he looked really nice - the way he was dressed in his suit.

We had a great conference. Elder Cook said "you are doing good enough but we need to work on bringing the family together and learning more about the Savior." It's pretty plain and simple but we can always improve. I'm thankful I was able to be in the presence of an Apostle of the Lord but mostly that my children were and our testimonies were able to grow today.

Wedding Bells

Yesterday Adam Langford and Rachel were married int he Mesa temple. We are so excited for them. There was a luncheon to follow with a reception that night. We were lucky enough to be able to go to all of it. The reception was outside in some body's back yard. It was a perfect evening. I guess I was too busy during that helping the food that I didn't even get my camera out.

The fam in front of the temple.
We headed home after the reception to get home for Stake Conference today.

Yee Haw!

When we went to Mesa this weekend for Adam and Rachel's wedding we went to Shelpers. The kids had to try out the bull.

Ma and Pa

Towards the end of last year (Sept. or Oct.) President Whipple wanted to meet with Bruce and I. Like always your mind gets going as what it could be. The Trek was the only possibility I could think of. Well that is what it was. We were asked to be a Ma and Pa on the Trek this year. It doesn't sound like too big of a deal to walk and walk and walk and walk and make sure the kids did the same. Well after talking to Pres. Whipple that day we found out there was much much more to it and tons of responsibility - both spiritual and physical. The Taylor Stake takes these Treks serious - which is a good thing. We were told we needed to keep it quiet for a while and needed to be at a training March 5th.

Well Saturday was March 5th so we spent our day from 9-3:30 learning about the Trek, but I don't think we got many questions answered. There is lots they don't tell you before hand. We learned a little about what would happen. We did a "fun run" to make sure we can go 4 miles in an hour. We learned a lot about how important it is that we are prepared for this. They GUARANTEE the kids their testimony will grow but it "depends on the Ma and Pa for this". We are really excited but like most callings worry if we are going to fulfill it the way we are expected to. So June 1-4 we will get a little taste of the pioneer life.

Kaylee Cocoa is 5!!

Today Kaylee turned 5 years old.....that just means I am getting old. She got to open her Tangled Barbie (the boy, she already had the girl). She was SO excited!

I asked her where she wanted to go for her birthday lunch - there are SO many choices in Heber for that. She told me she just wanted french fries, ketchup and a strawberry shake. We took her to DQ to get her what she wanted.

The Triplets came to play along with many other kids through out the afternoon. It was a beautiful day so kids were playing outside so it was fine by me.

Her butterfly cake - I am very far from a pro but she loved it and that's all that matters.

Blowing out candles....

One thing that I love about Kaylee is all her faces. She has such a personality. Here are a few of her different faces.

Kaylee loves to play with barbies. She loves to make believe. She is good a lot of the time to get her barbies or animals or whatever she is playing with and carry on a great conversation between the animals or whatever. She is in her own world a lot of the time.
With both ears bothering her so bad right now Bruce and I laugh but it's sad - she can't hear at all. About anything I say it's "huh" or "What".
Kaylee loves to sing. Loves candy and especially chocolate. She is a fun girl and full or life.
Kaylee we love you and are so glad you are in our family.
