There aren't very many sports they have here for young kids until they start school sports. Other years people have called us to see if we were interested in having our kids on a Heber team in the Showlow League. We just haven't been ready to commit to that yet so we haven't do it. This year President Whipple got together a little basketball program. I guess last year the girls did it but this year it was the girls and boys. They split the kids up 3&4 graders and 5&6th graders. They had it every Saturday for the past few (I think about 8). They would do drills the first half then scrimmage the second half. The last week they played a "real game." Yesterday was the last week of it. Bridget and Dustin loved it. We hope they put it on again next year.

He got a much needed haircut yesterday!

Excitement for the kids this morning -
My Puzzled Girl
All my kids have liked doing puzzles. They sure don't get it from me. I like doing the 100 piece ones and be finished with it. Well none of the other kids have loved them as much as Kaylee does. She LOVES puzzles. We have some 24 piece puzzles that Kaylee used to like to do, the 63 piece aren't good enough now. What she loves are the 100 piece puzzles. Here is one of them she did today -
My favorite thing she does every time is when she has only 1 piece left she calls me over and says there is a piece missing. She always hides the last piece. Pulls it out and thinks it's so funny!

The Best Mornings
Sunday mornings are the best (with church any time except 9:00). We have 2 little cuties that as soon as they hear us talking in bed jump in to join us. They think it's time to tickle.
Some Sunday's Rhett still joins in. Bridget and Dustin used to all the time too - every once in a while we will have all 5 kids trying to get our bed to get their turn to get tickled.
Fun times!!

Navajo County Spelling Bee
Yesterday was the Navajo County Spelling Bee that Dustin participated in. It was in the Snowflake Auditorium. There were probably 50-60 kids in it. They did a practice round with very easy words then on to the real thing. It was Dustin's turn and his word was artichoke. I thought to myself, yes he knows this word. So he starts, A T as soon as he said the T he knew he forgot the R but one of the rules of a spelling be is as soon as you say a letter you can't go back and change anything, so he was out. As soon as he sat back down he says ARTICHOKE. He was disappointed but he was glad he got to make it to the county one. This is the first spelling bee I've ever been to besides a school one. I could not believe the words those kids could spell, I haven't even heard of half of them much less say them and spell them. They boy that won is a 6th grader from Snowflake. Dustin did a great job making it there. We were sitting too far away to get a decent picture.
Blue and Gold Banquet 2010
Thursday night we had our Blue and Gold Banquet for scouts. Our new cub master was out of town so my 2nd counselor (Pam) had to put it all together. I helped her with the food. We had BBQ Sandwiches and salads to eat, it was yummy of course. We celebrated 100 years of cub scouts. Here are some pictures of the boys in action. Doran had a couple of fire fighters and a police officer come talk about the oath they made with their job and the cub scouts each repeated their oath.
Rhett got his Wolf badge so here he is pinning on my pin on me.
Retiring the colors.
Rhett and Otto (our 2 Wolves)made this little fence to pass some requirements off and it was in help with a wedding going on tonight. Rhett thought that was pretty neat to build this and wants to build some for at home!!

Presidents Day Weekend
I love weekends like this, Holiday weekends with not much going on. Friday night Bruce and I went on our Valentine's Date. We went to Showlow to watch Dear John then to dinner at Grumpy Jakes then to do a little shopping. We love, love that we can leave Bridget home to take care of things and we get home and the kids are all in bed happy. It is huge and makes the couple dating thing way easier and way cheaper. We enjoyed our night together and I love it that Bruce takes me out almost every Friday night.
Saturday was a beautiful day. We got a few chores done and the kids spent most of the afternoon playing outside. It was SO nice! It makes me want summer coming very bad. That night we went to Mark and Twila's for a yummy dinner.
Sunday we went to church then on to Snowflake for a nice dinner at Rex and Shella's. With my mom and dad gone they have tried to have everybody over for dinner every once in a while. The kids were thrilled to get to play with cousins - they don't get to do that near as much as they used to.
We had told the kids last week that we would go swimming on Monday. I called the swimming pool in Showlow and asked them if they were open for sure on President's Day and what their hours were that day. They told me there was family swim 9-11 and 1-3 with open swim after that. We decided to just get up and go so we would have the rest of the day to do whatever. We ended up picking up the mail for Bruce and the Overgaard office while we were there. We had to be there by 8:30 for the mail so we hung around for 30 minutes waiting for the pool to open. Finally 9:00 came and the kids were SO excited. We walked in and the lady said open swim didn't start until noon - we couldn't swim. I told her I called and they told me we could 9-11 and she said who ever I talked to must have been looking at the regular schedule not the holiday schedule. So we got in the car and came home. The kids were so sad and we felt terrible. The kids had piano that afternoon so we couldn't just hang around. It ended up being a fun day for the kids. The weather was great so they played at the seminary riding scooters, rollerblading and bikes then played with neighborhood kids.
That night I decided we would have our traditional Valentine's Day Candle Light Dinner since we weren't home the other nights. I decided I would make cheese boats - something new. We sat down for dinner and Tylinn and Bridget started complaining (they aren't big complainers about food but they were this night) and complaing about everything. Tylinn drops her plate on the floor and the nice red jello goes everywhere, I had had it by then. Eventually everything settled down and we kind of had a nice candle light dinner. Other years this has been great but this year not so much!

Capps Elementry 5th Grade Presents....
I guess every year for the last few years ??? 5th grade here has a President's Day Parade. Each student picks a president, researches them, does a paper on them then makes a float representing their president. Bridget picked John F. Kennedy (not who we would have picked but I guess all the "good ones" were taken). They have parents and other classes line the sides in the mall. As music plays they walk through pulling their floats made out of a shoe box. It was fun to see the the variety in floats. Bridget did a great job on hers. This year we learned, we'll know better what to do next year with Dustin.
Here's Kaylee afterwards pulling Bridget's float to the van. She loved pulling that thing around.

Does this look like fun or what??
Today Bruce and the boys went to Mark and Twila's house to help them unload more furniture and get things set up there. Twila saw Dustin and Amber playing with this Styrofoam and figured it was harmless so she let them keep playing. Well she had no idea what I would turn into. Bruce brought the boys home and got me and the shop vac to help clean up. We got way more cleaned up then I thought we were going to be able to. It was everywhere!! They had fun though!

Snow Picture
Just got this picture emailed to me and wanted to put it on here so I had it in my book. This is from the "Big" snow a few weeks ago. The kids played all afternoon then went home because they were cold. Bruce's brother Kyi and wife Jorgena were with us and Reese and Marinda. We had tons of fun tubing down way too steep hills.
Ouch!!
Sunday evening Tylinn's finger got smashed in the bathroom door. Kaylee and her were playing and I heard a door slam and i looked at Tylinn but I couldn't see her hand from where I was sitting. She got this horrible look on her face then started screaming - it took me a minute and finally realized what had happened. This is what we found.
It was a rough night (I don't have many of those any more and they kill me when they happen). Tylinn woke up quite a few times in the night and Kaylee woke up screaming that her ear hurt. I took Kaylee to the doctor yesterday and she has infections in both ears. She got tubes when she was 9 months old and hasn't had any since, I hope this isn't starting something. They are both doing much better. Tylinn went to school yesterday, I think she liked the extra attention and we got Kaylee medicine.

London's Run
This past weekend I went with Marinda down to run in London's run. She has a niece that has Leukemia so we ran in honor of her. We met Marinda's sister Sara and her friend for the race too. They all ran 1/2 marathon but I was so not ready for this so I just ran the 10K. It was so much fun!! Marinda has been telling me it's way easier to run at a lower elevation and by golly she is right! I always knew it was easier but never knew what a difference lower elevation makes. I'm way excited because I ran at a faster pace then I ever have. I can't wait to do one again and try to beat my time. The girls doing the 1/2 did great too. This was their first one and they all did really good and beat their goals. IT was a beautiful day and it was nice to be able to run outside and not on the stinkin treadmill.
It was nice to run into a friend from High School and his family. His dad ran the 1/2 and did really good.
Valerie was down there running the 10k too. It was nice to have somebody to talk to while waiting for the race to start.
Me, Marinda and Sara after the race.
Here's all 4 of us after. I was a late comer so that's why I didn't have the purple shirt. It was tons of fun.
I got home to a house full of people. Holli and Shawn and their 2 kids were here along with Melissa and Porter. We had a Miss America party that night with watching the pageant (missed the first 45 minutes because I thought it started an hour later). It was a great weekend.
