Trip to Mesa
Normally the days between Christmas and New Years family goes to my parents house but since they aren't here I took the kids and went to Mesa. We were going to go Tuesday and come home Thursday but because of this great snow storm I decided to go Monday and come home on Wednesday.
Angela got a new curling iron for Christmas from Jill and was curling some of the girls hair.
Katelyn, Kaylee and Annie - Kami and Michael we got to see for a little while. They have such cute girls. Kaylee and lots of fun with Annie for the little while they were there.
Little girls coloring - Maley wanted to join them.
Bridget and Melissa with their cute hair that Angela did.
Dustin and Rhett enjoying the Ridings new X-Box.
Tylinn's finished hair...
I told the kids Holli and I would take them to watch Secretariat Tuesday afternoon. We got everybody ready and drove to the theater only to find out it was sold out. I guess Tuesday is $1 day there and everybody else thought it would be a good idea. So what to do with 8 kids when they were bummed the movie was sold out??? We walked around the Mall. I'm surprised we didn't loose a kid or 2 or 3. Sometimes I wished we could have lost a kid or 2 or 3!! Just kidding!
The kids played in the little play area.
And yes played up and down on the escalator. I'm surprised we didn't get kicked out of that place!!
Shawn ended up taking the older kids back to the movie that night. They said they really liked it. Wednesday morning we woke up and headed out early to try to beat the snow. We didn't beat it but we made it. It was fun to stay at Grandma Nena's and visit with her and see Kelli and Holli and families. It was a good trip but it's nice to be home with Bruce!

Merry Christmas
Our older kids do not sleep much on Christmas Eve. We seem to be able to get them to sleep but they wake up about midnight then it seems to be off and on after that. This year was no exception. We told them we couldn't see what Santa brought until after 6:00 but they could do the outside chores of feeding the animals any time they wanted but it needed to be done before opening presents or looking in stockings. Kaylee woke up in the night about 3:00 and wanted me to get in bed with her. About 4:00 Bridget, Dustin and Rhett asked if they could go in the family room and play cards because they were sick of laying there awake. I told them they could I didn't want them to wake Tylinn and Kaylee up. About 5:30 the older kids decided they would go do the chores. They got their flashlights and headed out the door. They were walking up to the puppies and heard a barking noise (go figure??) so they ran back to the house. The did this again. This time it woke Bruce up and he said if they were feeding the puppies and there was a barking noise it was probably the puppies. They insisted it was a bigger dog or maybe even a coyote. So Bruce got dressed and went outside with them and sure enough the puppies were barking away excited at them!
Bruce came in and got a fire built. Just afer 6:00 they woke Tylinn, Kaylee and I up. Santa did come and it was exciting.
The kids lined up waiting so see what Santa brought.
Running in.....
Looking through stockings
Kaylee got this Fisher Price record player that I was excited about. I had one of these growing up and my mom still has it. I was excited when I saw they were making them again. They aren't quite the same and the new ones take batteries but it's still fun.
They boys got BB Guns from Santa. They were pretty excited!
Tylinn got this board thing to play school with. She LOVES it. Somebody has been playing school since she opened it.
And of course Santa brought the cereal for all the kids. Tylinn is enjoying her Smorz cereal.
I didn't get a picture of the exciting stuff outside. Outside there was a bike for the boys and one for Bruce and I. I wanted Bridget to take a picture of us on our bikes but at the time Bruce was freezing and wanted to go in and it didn't happend after that. Christmas Day Bruce and I went for a good bike ride. We thought we would ride up the canyon to try out the Mountain part of the bike. The first mile was pretty good then after that it was so sandy it about did me in. It isn't very fun riding a bike through sand mile after mile. We made it home all good and sweaty - I guess it served it's purpose - exercise!! We hope to have lots of good bike rides on those together.
After our bike ride we got showered and went to Mark and Twila's house to visit and ended up staying for dinner. It was nice to visit with them and with Bruce's parents who made there way here for dinner too.
We got home about 4:30 went to the high school and rode bikes more until dark. Christmas Day dissappeared way too fast. The kids went to bed and Bruce and I went to the Parrys to try out their new Wii games.
It was a great day - not because of anything we got but because we were with each other and it was very laid back and no schedule. I guess that's why the day didn't last long enough.

Christmas Eve
This year we had a calm quiet Christmas Eve with 5 very excited kids. We started it out with our steak dinner that was very yummy!
Then went on to the Nativity. This has been a tradition for many years. I remember doing this with my cousins growing up then when that got too big just doing it at our house.
Kids playing the piano so we could sing songs.
Dad reading a story.
Finally the time they had all been waiting for that day - opening 1 present under the tree that I get to pick out. Hmmm every year it seems to be the same thing....PJ's! Kaylee is trying to get hers out of the box.
Dustin modeling his pj bottoms the Urkel way - NICE!
A PJ shot.
This is how excited the kids were that Santa was coming.
Tylinn and Kaylee getting hauled off to bed.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!!

Happy Birthday Bruce
Today is my Bruce's 38th birthday! He always has pretty uneventful birthdays working at the PO and it being December 15th. Today Rosa is off so he is there by himself.
This morning he opened a few presents.
After we ran that Ragnar we both wanted a sweatshirt but didn't ever get one. Several people in town that ran got one. Whenever we saw anybody with their on he would make a comment. I decided I would get him one for his birthday. I knew he wouldn't like it if he got one and I didn't since we ran it together so I ordered one for both of us.
Happy Birthday Honey!!

Christmas Program
Last night we had a Mountain Meadows Christmas Program. It was really good but the best part about it is it was in our new Performing Arts Center at Capps. With a bond that was passed a few years ago we were able to get this built. It was a much needed building for this community.
Here is Rhett's class and the other 3rd grade class singing Jingle Bell Rock.
Tylinn and her Daddy
Tylinn introducing their classes song "My Two Front Teeth".

Ward Christmas Party
Last week we had our ward Christmas Party. The Primary Kids did the nativity and sang primary songs. These pictures didn't turn out too great but it's what I could get from where I was. The kids had fun. Kaylee was a sheep, Tylinn a star, Dustin was Joseph, Rhett a shepherd and Bridget a 12 year old spectator.
