Ready or not, It's here!

Happy Birthday to ............
ME!

Today I hit the ripe old age of 30. I have dreading this day for a long time. I'm not sure why really, I guess it's just because you just aren't "young" any more. You aren't "old" yet but not "young". I was amazed this morning that I could get up and run just like I did yesterday. Bruce keeps reminding me that I am only 1 day older than yesterday. One of my good friends said when she turned 30 that the last 10 years of life were great and she's looking forward to the next 10 years. I have been trying to keep that outlook about it. I am looking forward to the next 10 years but I loved the last ten years. I guess another reason is I don't feel 30 at all. I feel young and youthful as ever. Anyway it's my birthday.

Happenings of today:
Went running with Lena (thanks Lena!)
Kids off to school
Babysit neighbor boy
Run errands
Subway for lunch - I love that place!
Babysit neighbor girl
Naps
Scouts - Visiting the Post Office (thanks Bruce for taking over)
Parents bringing dinner tonight
Lots of hugs from kids

I am very thankful for the life I have and love it. Bring in on 30 +++!
Sorry there are no great pictures of me, camera still isn't cooperating.

Weekend Wrapup

We had a good weekend, although it wasn't very eventful. I think that was one thing that was so nice about it. Friday evening I got to go on a date with my man. We try to do something every week. We have been better about it since we lived here then we ever have. We usually don't do any thing super exciting but it's nice to just get out with no kids. We ended up going to Showlow and eating at Native New Yorker, which we loved, (we're heading back one of these day for some more wings) and did a little shopping. We got home and of course watched the Olympics until falling asleep. Saturday I went to Taylor to get my hair cut from my great Sister-in-law. She is great! I took Rhett with me. It was fun to have the driving time talking to him. He is such a fun boy. Bruce and the other kids did a few things around the house. I got home and Bruce took Bridget, Dustin and Rhett to Black Canyon Lake to swim and play with the Kayak. Bruce was supposed to take the camera and forgot, actually I have some other pictures on there I was going to load and it isn't working for some strange reason. Anyway they had a great time. Tylinn, Kaylee and I had a great nap!

Sunday was just the regular Sunday. Started with kids in the bed for tickle time. This is one and I think the only thing we like about later church. With the later church it seems like Sunday mornings are just yucky. They drag on and staying in the house sitting around we get headaches a lot. We take walks after church about every Sunday but this time we decided to do it before church. We walked up the hill behind our house and around out in the trees. It was very nice and relaxing. Then was church and just the regular stuff. Sorry there are no pictures. Hopefully I can figure out what's up with the camera.

Bathing Beauties

My poor kids thought they were deprived of swimming this summer. Every other summer for a long time they have had swimming lessons, we didn't not do that this year because there isn't any in town and I wasn't paying gas to go to Showlow or Snowflake everyday for 2 weeks. Other years they have at least had a little swimming pool at home to play in, not this year. I wasn't dealing with no grass, no cement and mud everywhere. We now have grass (just coming up) and cement but the summer is about over so why do it now?? I guess Tylinn and Kaylee were fed up with it so they made their own. (I guess that's why they went swimming in the mud hole too!)

Afterward they decided they needed to soak up the sun. I wish I looked that cute in a swimming suit.

I am having a blast with these two while the others are in school. They are so fun!

Cub Scouts are True to the Red, White, and Blue!

Last Saturday was the Cub Scout Day Camp. I got to go this year with Dustin. I got put in cub scouts in June but we pretty much had the summer off so we are just starting off now.
It was a fun day to spend with my boy and everybody elses!! We got to see a few cousins and people we knew because it was with Snowflake stake and Holbrook. I work with some awesome ladies that I got to go with.
This is Dustin and I 5:50 am just heading out the door.

BB Gun Shooting, Dustin tore it up with this. I didn't realize he was such a good aim. He learned all he knows from me!!!
Dustin at the First Aid Station learning what to do if somebody brakes their arm. They also learned how to play marbles, did finger prints with a police officer, learned about the flag and how to fold one (I should have listened to this closer because at scouts on Tuesday a lady asked me and another lady to fold the flag and I have never done that before), an obstacle coarse, made a scarf and slide to hold it, when for a hike, rode in a canoe, wrote and told Native American stories, archery. I think that was what there was.
These are our muscle men!!
They did the dead man float and swam and this is an after shot. Aren't they a bunch of cuties?
The whole crew.
It was a good day. It's enough to wear you out but we have a great group of boys and it's nice one of them is mine. Rhett will be in there in a year. I just have lots to learn.

Bitter - Sweet

The First Day of School
Dustin's teacher is Ms. Bell

Bridget's teacher is Mrs. Kenney

Rhett's teacher is Mrs. Willis

With today being the first day of school I have very mixed feelings. It was sad to drop my kids off at school. One bad thing is Bridget is a big Capps girl now so she isn't there to look out after Dustin and Rhett. I know they will manage fine but I don't worry at all about them being taken care of with Bridget around. Our home is ready for more structure but on the other hand I am dreading the stress of getting everything done and kids in bed by 7:45 every night. I guess we just had way too much fun this summer. We are excited about all their teachers. We dropped Bridget off first then went to Moutain Meadows and dropped the boys off. We got back in the car and Tylinn started crying because she missed the other kids. We will obviously get used to it but it is really quiet here!

Part 2 of the Mud

Just the mud wasn't enough, they had to invite the neighborhood and add a slide. They used this plastic sometimes

and just slid down on the mud other times. They had a blast!

Mamma Mia

Yesterday some girls (I guess ladies but we seem too young to be ladies so we'll be girls) went to Showlow and for some girl time. There were 5 of us. It was GREAT! We left here and went to Grumpy Jakes and ate lunch and then watched the Mamma Mia. I really liked it but especially liked the music. It is one of those movies that makes you feel alive and glad to be a girl. We had a great time. Thanks girls!

Hair Cuts

Aunt Shavan did hair cuts for the girls for school. She cut Bridget's last year before school and she loved it. She wanted her to do it again this year, all of the girls were due for a hair cut. They are great! Thanks Shavan!

GIF Reunion

This last Friday, Saturday, and Sunday we had our Gerald Ikerd Flake Reunion. We had it at Camp Silver Creek, or as I knew it growing up was the Dipping Vats. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the camping. Friday we arrived just after a nice rain storm, it was cool and refreshing. I loved it minus the mud. We had smores and visited and went to bed.
Tylinn, Austin, Kaylee, Garrett
(Aren't they cute?)
Saturday we had food, games, food visiting time and playing in the water and more food. Some of the games were a scavenger hunt, a card game about the apostles, sack race, tug of war, race to pound a nail. Saturday night we had a great program put on by Reed and Shavan. Shavan put together a really good slide show with some pictures I didn't even know existed. We also played "Are you Smarter than Grandpa. We were divided up into 4 teams with several on a team and Grandpa was alone. He did really good and would have skunked all of us if the categories would have stayed at AZ History, Snowflake History and LDS History. It was the Music and Movies that threw him off.
Sunday we had our own family church, which we always enjoy. After that we packed up, cleaned up, loaded up and headed for home. We got to beautiful Heber and it was over cast and only about 70 degrees. It was beautiful. We enjoyed our weekend and being with family. Thanks Reed and Shavan!

Rhett Man is 7!

Here are some pictures of our birthday boy!

Our little Rhett Man turned 7 on August 2nd. We were at a Family Reunion that weekend so he got to spend the whole day with cousins, playing. Life doesn't get much better than that.

We let him open presents before we went so we didn't have to mess with them with tons of kids and camping.
His one request for a present was a monster truck. He ended up getting several of those, a ball catch game, bubbles, a super soaker, a set of bases for baseball/kickball and clothes from Grandma.
We had a pinata at the reunion for him. All the kids lived it.
This is Rhett wearing the broken sun.
Happy Brithday Rhett we love you!

A Funny

This is probably one of those thing that you had to be there for but Bruce , I, and Kaylee thought it was pretty funny. Kaylee was sitting in this little hole first just playing. Tylinn walks up and says "Kaylee get out, I want to lay an egg now." So she sat down and started balking like a chicken does after it lays an egg. What fun girls.
