Mary, Mary Quite Contrary, How Does Your Garden Grow?

How does your garden grow is my big question right now. Bruce told me the other day if we were going to have any kind of a garden I better get it in .....Thanks Bruce!

I picked a spot. Thankfully Bruce used a rototiller on it and got it marked. Yesterday I proceeded to plant the garden. I've been by my Dad for many years watching/helping him and by Bruce the other years but I've never had to be the one to decide what to plant where, how far apart and how deep to put the seeds. I managed to plant pumpkins, beets, swiss chard, carrots, beets, lettuce, cucumbers, chili's and peppers. I bought some plants, Brussels sprouts and a couple of chili plants that I planted. I can handle plants! We still need some tomato plants, zucchini, and corn. I got it all planted and watered yesterday.

This morning we woke up and there was frost over everything, is it ever going to quit freezing? It didn't get the plants. So now we will see if anything grows. My neighbor told me the other day the first year they lived here they planted a big nice garden with everything and all it took was one night of Elk visiting and it was gone. We'll see what happens!

I managed to get some strawberries planted in this pot too. They are pretty protected from the wind in front of our house. I'm not expecting tons of delicious strawberries but a few would be fun for the kids to see sometime.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day we went to Fool Hollow Lake for a picnic. It was a pretty windy day (what a surprise) but down by the lake it wasn't bad. We didn't do any fishing or anything, just threw rocks in the water and walked around.
Bruce was telling the kids the history behind the lake, the town Adair that was buried when they made this lake.
Tylinn and Kaylee playing in their "little lake" so they called it. We went to ShowLow from here and picked up our new couch, yeah! We ended up a good day with a steak dinner with Mother and Dad and Holli and Shawn. I love holidays!

Our New Home

Here we are in our new home. We are back on the web again. I told everybody when we got into our house and got the internet I would start a blog, her it is. I need to sit down and figure out all the details but here's a start.
We moved into our home May 9th. We love it. It's little but it's ours. Our plan is to build another house kind of in front of this one after we get our land paid off and turn this one into Bruce's shop with keeping the master bed and bath in. This is the sacrifice we were willing to make to buy an acre. After seeing all the time and money this has taken we may end up adding on to this one. We'll have to see what happens. Bruce built the whole thing with help from his little brother Lonnie (thanks a million Lonnie) and we had a crew frame it. We poured cement March 10 so he was thankfully able to move it along quickly. We have lots and lots of work to do outside now. When we bought the land it had lots and lots of junk on it. We moved what was necessary to build and figured we would do the rest afterward. Last Saturday we managed to get this wood pile moved.
As you can see we had lots of good help!
