Follows Directions

Very much like her Daddy, and not so much like me, she looked at the directions carefully and followed the steps, 1 through 6.

All by herself.

I did the other three.

Dog Bed

My daughter doesn't sleep.  She never has.   The first three months of her life, she slept like a dream.  So much so, that the pediatrician had us waking her to feed her.   Then came month 4, and she became the world's worst sleeper.   Hard to put down, early to rise, short napper, wakes at the slightest noise.   Karma, I guess.

Since August she has had her big girl bed, and despite my $50 investment on a toddler arm clock, she continually gets out of her bed in the night.

At first she came to Mommy's side of the bed insisting she "couldn't sleep".  I would walk her back to her room and tuck her back into bed 2-3 times per night.  After a couple of months of exhaustion, I quit.  No more, I wouldn't take her back, it was Daddy's turn.   So for a month, he walked her back each night, tucking her in.   Then one night we both stopped.   Cold turkey.  We wouldn't get up and put her back to bed.   We told her we loved her, but she need to walk back to her room and get in bed with her teddy.

Try having a 3 year old yelling and crying in your ear for an hour and a half.

She stayed in her bed for 2 nights after that.

Now in the wee hours we find her here....

Or here....

Now what?

MOM!!!!!

This morning I was awakened by a little girl standing at the side of my bed yelling, MOM!!!!  That will startle you awake.   She was holding at least 5 dolls in her arms.  She offered Baby LuLu to me to snuggle and climbed into my bed with me.

She then pronounce that she would never put any of her dolls away "when she was a grown up."  That she would "keep them out for her baby sister and baby brother to use."   I reminded her that she doesn't have a brother or sister right now.

She replied:

"That's okay, God will put them in your tummy.  Well, maybe not a brother and sister at the same time....  OR [excitedly] all of them at the same time!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

ALL at the same time???   That would startle anyone awake.

But I hope so.

R:  Why do they have those names?
M:  Those are angels.
R:  Are the angels singing?
M:  Yes baby, they are.
