GUILTY PLEASURES

So, I am 35, and I realize I have a lot of guilty pleasures that I keep secret. No, I am not going to reveal them all to you now... do I look stupid? Don't answer that. So as I have thought about this I realize a lot of them are really funny and perhaps you have the same ones.

I love sleeping in. Everyone who knows me, knows this. I can stay up all hours of the night and if I absolutely have to wake up I do. But oh how I love to sleep in. I am not telling you the latest I have ever slept in. That will be confidential.

I love going to the movies. I love going on a date to a movie, if it is an awkward date, perfect, we don't have to talk. If it is a good date, it is fun to be with someone at the movies. I like taking my kids and spoiling them with the whole experience. I love going to a girly movie with Lauren and her friends and dancing and playing along. I love going to the boyish movies like Transformers with Ethan. I hate going with Davis. LOL. I even like going alone sometimes.

I love Chick-Fil-A. I have tried everything on the menu. Twice. It is delicious and I can tell myself it is somewhat healthy. I know they feed missionaries for free. I know that on Saturday nights late they will give you all the salads and such in the fridge to take home when they close. I know that the sauces are divine and can be used at home in other recipes... don't ask. Just love that place. I know they are closed on Sunday everywhere. Isn't that great.

I love going back to school. It is a love/hate relationship. I love learning, accomplishing my goal and just doing something for me.

I love texting. At work it is fun, keeps me connected to the outside world while I am working away. It is fun to bug Ethan too with texts throughout the day.

I love being a Mom. Sometimes I want more kids, just so I can keep playing forever. I love the waterslides, the amusement park, going swimming in the middle of the day, library hour, reading kids books, kid food (string cheese, graham crackers), playing games and just being a kid. Davis lets me do that, we eat Dibs together, they are his new favorite. I buy him the monster bag lately.

Music. I love Michael Jackson, ACDC, Church music, Country Music, ABBA, Glee, Sappy Love Songs, Beiber, Miley Cyrus. If it is catchy and fun, or fits my mood. I love it all.

I love having a girl. I love pink. I love doing her hair, I love the stupid feathers she has in her hair right now. I love listening to Justin Beiber with her and not going to lie, I know every word. Don't tell Ethan. He hates the Beiber Fever. I love watching her dance and love hanging out and spoiling her and her friends. Girls are the best. I just wish I could stop her from growing up any more. I love that we can go to the mall and it is an event, not just another errand.

I love having a teenager. Motherhood is hard, this is great fun. I can have real conversations, he bathes himself, feeds himself (a lot), and can clean up after himself. It is a joy to watch him grow and develop into a young man. We have a lot of the same sense of humor, so I think he is hilarious and he laughs at most of my stupid jokes.

I love all my Apple gadgets. My MacBook Air... oh how I love thee. They make me smile and keep me entertained. I am not without one for more than half a day, ever. I love the internet... way too many hours on it.

Facebook... you suck me in.

Peanut M & Ms. Oh how I love you. They have a peanut in them. Healthy right? Right?

Okay, I think that is enough for confession now. Am I good now? However, I am not stopping any of them. Not worth it. Ha ha ha.

I HEART my Kids...

For Presidents Day Weekend I was lucky enough to spend some time with my cute children... Ethan was pretty sick for most of it, but on Monday I took Ethan and his BFF, Jordan, to the Kearns Rec Center to go swimming. They had so much fun messing around and just being boys. They did a lot of tricks off the diving board and played a lot of basketball. Ethan made a shot from like 30 or 40 feet away. I was a proud Mama. It was fun to see the other boys all try to make the same shot after. Fun times.

That same night I took Lauren to the Justin Bieber movie, Justin Bieber - The Experience. I was dreading it for a long time, in fact I tried to get her Dad to take her. I remember going to the Hannah Montana Concer movie and hating it. But I am not going to lie, it was great. I had some serious - BIEBER FEVER - it was excellent. We got ready before, Lauren put on make up and we both curled our hair while listening to the Bieber really loud in my room. Lauren and I had fun dancing and singing along during the movie. She still doesn't want anyone to know we went... too funny. I think this is letting her secret out. Hee hee.

We also went to visit Davis which is really fun. we took him to McDonalds for his favorite, fries and lots of katchup. He makes me smile.

I hope you all had a great Presidents Day Weekend too.

2011 - HAPPINESS

I like the tradition I have started of having a word for each year. Last year my word was "CONTENTMENT". I posted the word a few different places so I would see it. But partway through the year I mentally changed it to PERSEVERANCE.
It seemed more appropriate given the changes that continually happened.

This year the word I chose is HAPPINESS.
Definition: HAPPINESS is a state of mind or feeling characterized by
contentment, love, satisfaction, pleasure, or joy.
I know it is so similar to the definition of Contentment, but to me it is just a little different.
I can chose to be HAPPY, and I am HAPPY.

One phrase that I like, that I say to myself often is...
"Fake it 'til you make it"
This applies to HAPPINESS too. I am going to be HAPPY this year. I have had a few close friends tell me lately that I seem so HAPPY, that is because I am.
No matter what, I am going to have a great year and be HAPPY.

I have a scripture that will sustain me as I go through this year.
I have it up in my room under a picture of Christ. It is my favorite:

"I can do all things through CHRIST which strengtheth me"

And two quotes to go with it...

Come what May and Love it

-David B. Haight

Enjoy the Journey

Wish me luck.

Welcome 2011... See you later 2010, don't let the door hit you on your way out!
