We are getting very excited for Christmas around here. Mike and I have been talking about sending out an extra cheesy Christmas card in DI sweaters for the past 2 years. We're just now getting to it. Here is a preview, and here's hoping we get them sent out before Christmas!

Bad blogger
It's been over a month since our last post...that might make us bad bloggers?

Rapid City Life
Mike and I had a whole week off from work and school last week so we drove to South Dakota to see my family! I haven't been home for a year, so it was great to back. The time flew by (as it usually does on vacations)! The whole week felt like a day! Here are a few of the pictures we took.
And I have a hilarious video of Ally demonstrating her mad dance skills, but I think our internet is too slow to upload...still working on it.

Jazz Basketball!
We are very excited that it is October in our household because October starts the preseason in the NBA! And I'm crazy about both the NBA and especially the Utah Jazz!! Mike created a monster when he introduced me to the Jazz. He tries to keep up with me.I predict a wonderful season. I'm really trying to get my dad to score us some lower bowl Coca-Cola corporate tickets. That would just be grand!

The Art of Homemaking
I found this little treasure of a book at DI the other day. It's called "The Art of Homemaking," published 1967. I love finding old books to decorate in little stacks under lamps, on bedside tables, etc.
It turns out the book is not merely decorative, but also useful for little pearls of wisdom in the art of homemaking that I am sure will make Mike so appreciate! For example:
"One of the most common complaints unhappy husbands have is that their wives have neglected their appearance and slop around the house with uncombed hair and in runover slippers which look like two dead rabbits. Mrs. Homemaker, you owe it to your husband and children to get dressed promptly each morning... And, remember, as far as make-up is concerned, ' Even a barn looks better if it's painted!' "
"A wife, if she is reasonable, doesn't expect a great deal of help from her husband, but she does want good help. A husband can help by following through on a task he performs. For instance, when he does the dishes how wonderful it would be if he would complete the job by cleaning the pots and pans, rinsing the sink and removing food particles caught in the drain, and washing the countertops." (Funny because that drove me crazy the first year of marriage! Mike, bless his heart would do the dishes and be so pround, but the counters and sink would be disguisting. He's got it down now!)

My latest project
I've had a really hard time with file cabinets. It's just that they are all so plain and ugly. So, I've resisted getting one for the last 2 years at the price of bill organization! So we bought an ugly old file cabinet at DI for cheap and fixed it up! I forgot to take a before picture. But here is the after:

This is so embarrassing. Here's what happened.
Yesterday Boomer was in his crate by himself for 2 hours on separate occasions. One of his favorite toys is this old makeup brush of mine. It is a fan brush and he goes nuts for it! He never eats it, just nibbles.
I came home from work around 6 and he was acting normal until about 8 o'clock. He was lethargic and yippy. He wouldn't move and if you touched his tummy he would cry and whine like he was dying! We didn't figure out what happened until 11:30 at night. Somehow the makeup brush ended up in his crate. He had ripped it to shreds and devoured half of it, including the metal pieces around the top of the handle. We hopped on google to see what happens if your dog ingests metal. Didn't sound good or cheap.
We called the pet emergiclinic and they said to bring him in. So at 12 o'clock at night we drove little Boomer to the pet hospital, both nervous he was going to A) die or B) cost us a fortune we don't have! Luckily, they just made him throw up and they found bunches of brush pieces and no metal. Today he is back to normal, $100 dollars later. I think this is why Mike didn't want to get a dog. (Even though he was pretty sad last night because he loves Boomer so much.)

A puppy to call our own!
We are getting a puppy! It is a papillon- French for butterfly. It will be 18 weeks when we get him. Pictures to come...
We are debating on names. Mike likes "Axle." I like "Bosco" (Like from Seinfeld. You know, George's ATM code.) We both borderline about "Whatley." Any name suggestions are welcome and appreciated!

Trip to Grand Ol' Canyon
It was very pretty and very large.
