YWLA Tournament

Hi, this is Eva, and I'm blogging about the YWLA High Q tournament !

Two of our team members weren't able to make it, so it was just me and another team member named Olivia. Her parents were kind enough to give me a ride there and back, so we arrived a little before 8:40. The tournament started at 9;15 (the most on-time start to a tournament I've ever been to), and we were off! There were a lot of history questions, which weren't really anyone's forte, but we ended up winning all 4 of our seed rounds. There was also a K-Pop Demon Hunters question (they come out with question sets really quickly, apparently), a Joseph Smith question (I got a power on that one), a Civil War question I knew because of Dad, and an art question that I knew because I'd seen in in an art book I brought to the tournament. We also beat one of the teams that always shows up wearing suits, so I felt a little bit proud after that (they're kind of intimidating).

Since there was only two of us on the team, we each had to answer a lot of questions. I actually ended up being in the 2nd team of top indiviual scorers, which meant I was one of the top 8 individual scorers for the entire tournament! I got a little medal and felt very proud of myself.

Unfortunately, we lost our first semi-final match, but I still had fun. I answered more questions than I normally did, got a medal, and learned a lot of random stuff. I hope the next tournament goes well too!

Snow!

A big storm has come across the United States and caused lots of snow and ice from the Carolinas to Texas. It has caused record breaking snow in some places. We were excited to get two hours of flurries this Sunday. The kids went outside to make snowballs. It ended up in a snowball fight with Dad.

Stella liked the snow too and rolled around in it. I liked that I got to wear my boots to church.

As a result of freezing temperatures after a day of wet, the schools were on a delayed start on Monday. That meant sleeping in and no seminary. Fort Bliss was even on a delayed start. So it was a nice leisurely morning and I loved it.

The storm hasn't affected us as much as other places. We haven't lost power and the most disruptive thing was the delayed start (which was fabulous in my opinion). But today we are back to normal. It's still sweater/coat weather but the sun is out and its like the snow never happened.
