My fear of yeast

I have an unhealthy love of fresh baked bread -- rolls in particular.  I have always wanted to learn how to make them but have also been grateful that I didn't know how because then the bread-loving beast within would be unleashed.  My cute friend, Alison, helped me overcome my ignorance this week.  She is known for her amazing rolls and when she told me that she had to make dozens and dozens of rolls for a bridal shower, I asked to help her so I could finally learn from a master.

Several hours of mixing, rolling, cutting and lots of butter'ing later ….

… and this is what I created!!

Making batch after batch with her helped cement the process in my mind.  And this has been the scene at our house almost every Sunday afternoon since ….

8 is great

Big day for my baby and her daddy.  The girls all sang together as part of the program, a song that brought tears to my eyes every single time we practiced it. There is something very sweet for this mom to play the piano for my girls while they sing together.  Memorable day for us all….  sniff sniff

New Year's

We spent New Year's at home this year with most of our kids.  (The older 2 have reached that fun stage where friends are definitely more appealing than mom & dad.  I felt the same way at their age…)

We drank far too much sparkling cider ...

… took photo booth-stye selfies ...

… had a dance party in the kitchen ...

… and ate dad's amazing Spanish tortilla.  Our fave dinner around here. :)

And this year, we actually made it to midnight -- which is saying something for me since I'm an early-to-bed kind of girl.

Here's to 2015 ….
