question: upside down chips

so i don't know if any of you have ever wondered this or am i just obsessive compulsive about stuff ?
why is it always imposiible to open a bag of chips from the top-side but only possible from the bottom end? things like these keep me awake sometimes. I found myself wondering about something like that for a whole half hour. That's a whole half hour of time wasting. And honestly, that's like 6 pop songs put together. I can go for a run in half hour, I can give birth in half hour. So much time wasted but haven't gotten any answers yet. so there. (i'm writing this right now behind a goal post waiting for the match between south korea and japan to begin in Indonesia, Palembang. That's how obsessed i am with this whole upside down chips thingamabob.)

i miss sailing

going through some old photos in my computer, trying to create more space in the Hard Drive, i came across some old sports images. and i found this.
i miss sailing very very very very very very very much.
in fact, i just realised, that ALL my childhood was spent at sea, well, up till i was 20 years. Just 7 years ago. i was so tanned, people at the markets used to think that i was my mother's new domestic help. Yes. I miss the experiences it brought and the lessons that came along with it. I miss my team mates, growing up together at the beach and dreading waking up every morning for training, then loving every minute of it when it was over. We travelled the world because of sports. Greece, Spain, Denmark, Belgium, Kiel, Menorca, Australia, China, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand. I miss the competition, the warm crates of coke that we got shipped along with our dinghies in 20ft containers, because coke was our sponsor, only to find out how ironic it all was because we were not allowed to drink too much coke, or the caffine level would cause us to be disqualified when doped.
Will upload more pictures of our good ol' days when i get home and do some scanning. And i guess i will have to pen down some thank yous to people who supported me all those years. It's about time now that i pay my dues. In the mean time, here's a shot of my team mates, back in Busan at the Asian Games, Roy and Da hui during a training session. They are sailing on what we call the 420 (read 4-twenty) dinghy. I was there for work, not as an athelete.

stoked

here's me looking really stoked about being able to catch up on sleep, gilmore girls and nathaniel's nutmeg and of course, some blogging. However, i realised that watching all my dvds and bloggin will leave me with very little sleep in the end.

don't cry over spilt milk

in this case i had to throw these packets out.
Unfortunately i waited too long and it's been more than 6 months and i know some people are going to kill me but hey, I did offer one or two friends but they were not used to the idea of their babies drinking other mothers milk so yeah. Too bad then. I had no choice but to throw out these old packets of expressed breast milk. I had 2 more sacks of at least a hundred packets of milk like these seen here. But no choice. I told you i am a cow. You may never look at me the same again. well, mooo to you too. Having said this, i'm just pretty happy right now that my milk supply has dropped. Though i'm still expressing while away on assignment. I can't wait to stop so i can start active participation in sports again. I miss that.

lihat sini

which essentially means "look here"
i got a bit of a laptop-shock, well, if there's such a thing about a couple of seconds ago when i navigated my way to the blogspot homepage to find the entire blog tabs in behasa indonesia, which thankfully, through memory and basic language skills, managed to make my way over here where i am writing to you in a language which i am a little more comfortable with - english. so familiar yet so different the setting...
so yes.
a cyberspace reminder that i am in Palembang, indonesia even though it seems like i never left - with internet and connectivity and all.
will be here shooting the Japanese and Koreans battle it out for the 3/4th placings of the Asian Cup soccer tournament - i call it the loser game, which means i am covering the loser assignment. But wait till you check out the hotel i am taking shelter in. Novotel. SWEET - this makes up for everything loserly about this.

a combination of pictures i took a week ago when i was here for the same assignment (saudi vs bahrain in knockout stage) - the picture taken today is the one of me catching up on my book titled Nathaniel's Nutmeg by the pool.

freaky floral tea #03

Prosperity Nugget
"prosperity nugget" > Green Tea, Jasmine, Globe Amaranth > Globe Amaranth : believed to enhance skin beauty and have a diuretics effect which assist in treating heart failure, liver cirrhosis, hypertension and certain kidney diseases. sounds a little dubious if you ask me but oh well. > the tastes seems to cross each other out, ending up just tasting like mild green tea in the end.
>looks kinda cute with the loopy thing going on but the leaves look a little harsh overall.
not my favourite, still like the first one best.

now there are 4 of them!

seriously.
why do babies need teeth anyway?

sometimes

i guess i need to crawl through a narrow opening like that; looking totally dubious and rediculous to passing cars travelling on the ECP, just so i can get a shot like that.

Freaky Floral Tea #02

ok today we have my second dosage of this freaky floral tea, which is growing on me ...no punn intended... hardee har har
"Love at First Sight"
> Green Tea , Globe Amaranth
> Globe Amaranth : believed to enhance skin beauty and have a diuretics effect which assist in treating heart failure, liver cirrhosis, hypertension and certain kidney diseases. sounds a little dubious if you ask me but oh well.
> Tastes more floral than the "Dancing with The Snow" bud. Not very fruity.
> visually, well, it looks more desert and cacti like than the other one.
I don't like this one as much as the previous bud.
It's like drinking diluted perfume water (not that i've tried it) but yeah, come on people, use your imagination. And some of you were wondering, i got it from a pushcart at the basement of vivocity.

shopping buddy

ok.
shopping or mall wandering is beginning to be fun now that nate's a little bigger and can sit on his own. i can actually use dressing rooms and walk through supermarkets with ease!

freaky floral tea adventures #01

I went for a walk with nate in the mall last night and found this. It's strange but i like it. It's essentially green tea leaves wrapped around floral tea buds which will expand in water, giving you an infused tea flavour. The Green tea is from An Hui, China. Almost looks alien at first _ however i'm glad it doesnt taste the way it looked in the beginning. It blooms later into something very pretty, almost to a point where you don't wanna drink it. Same goes for anything made in Japan; in this case China. I guess i'm a real sucker for packaging. But then again, who isn't?
It's got its experimental value and you know how i am with experiments; so i feel this obssesive need to log it.
I've got 8 different buds to try; so here goes. Today July 6, 2007
"Dancing with The Snow"
> Green Tea, Marigold, Jasmine
> Taste leans more towards green tea and jasmine.
> Light, a little fruity, and the fragrance of the jasmine lingers in the after-taste.
It's supposed to have NO Artificial Colors, flavours and preservatives and heaps of entertainment value. It also makes a perfect gift for my buddy TC who loves her Gardens/plants and Tea.
Next bud tomorrow; if i'm still alive.
