Class Clowns

fake food but i dont blame him; he's hungry
the food and the robber you see above are fake tanalee and I take Security Asia very seriously
Because this job can drive us crazy some times, well, all jobs can. It's important to remember to have a sense of humour as you take it very seriously. Enjoy some of our less professional moments we stole in a couple of fractions of a second.

3 weeks and counting

It's been 3 weeks into work since my 3 months of time off after giving birth to The Nate.
I can say that i'm finally settling in and i'm enjoying it very much.
Work is getting exciting, and so is home life.
I've had a couple of firsts since i've been back at work and I particulaly enjoyed covering Boxing for the first time. It's sweaty, rough, gruff, and rude. But the actions happen in split seconds and the scene is theatrical. I've been on an oil rig for the first time in my life as well and found out that it's a lot of flights of stairs to get to the drill bit at the mid section of the rig. Oil riggers are fit.

I've clocked more than a 1000km of driving from my assignments in just 3 weeks and got to see a world class bubble magic performance at the Crystal Mirror Gala opening. I'm inspired and that's absolutely what i love about my line of duty.

Have had a lot of time to think about things as well, during my driving around from assignment to assignment and i've come to a conclusion. Might not apply to everyone; but it's my version or at least the one that I can reconcile with at this point in my life.

Life is never too hard for us to handle.
God planned it this way and he gives us challenges to make us grow and mould with Him and in Him. Ask Him for strength, he'll give you challenges instead to make you stronger. I used to think that i would magically become stronger the next day via first class. Doesn't work that way. However he will never give us something that we can't handle.
Sometimes we complicate things more often than we should.
Having a baby change the dynamics of your existing life is not the hardest thing in the world but its the re-adjusting of your lifestyle that takes getting use too.

Alot of getting used too.

There's the adjustments and re-adjustments.
In the process, you get very very tired.
But stir in a couple of good zzzs and you'll start gaining some strength.
Just gotta press on.
One day at a time.
Hopefully with a little bit of a "PoW and a wOw"

uphill

This doesn't look like a tiring climb but trust me it is!
It's a little hill which takes us to the press holding area in the Istana, where most of us photographers need to wait for our assignment. Not forgetting that flight of steps just at the end. The funny part about all this is trying to maintain some composure when you finally reach the top.
It's been a while since i've climbed up here. The last time when i was pregnant and now after popping, it doesnt' seem to get any easier either.
Sigh. So tired

Back to the Future

This is apparently Nate's future
according to them
All this had something to do with the fact that we prolly ate way too much seafood at our good ol' hang out in Suntec city.

It was fun. Let's do that sometime soon again.

Note to self # 02

shooting golf is exhausting especially when we're trying for new angles
(at least i was trying really hard - but it got harder as the sun got hotter)
there's something about watching ice-skating on tv but there's something even better watching it live
So when i start to get tired and whine all night about having a long day, I shall read this entry and remember this week instead. There seemed to be endless shooting in random order and random topics. All interesting; however tiring.

man i feel tired just running this through my head.
You know what really killed me was the heat from the golf event. Plus the heavy lenses.
I really don't mind covering golf at all because i get my annual tan lines from there. Plus you tend to lose some weight and gain a little bit more staminar from all the walking on the course.
plus baby decides to stop sleeping through the night on friday and saturday night, when i needed the most rest. life is ironic sometimes isn't it?
I'm glad i made it through and like they said: "whatever doesn't kill you; makes you stronger."
think i need to head to bed now.
yawn.

Terrible 2

So check this out.
We had such a HORRENDOUS time trying to find an angle to shoot U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney's plane, the Air Force Two aircraft making an emergency landing in Singapore last weekend at Paya Lebar Military Airbase. Yes. It's almost impossible except that we found the highest HDB point and actually asked a nice man to let us in his home so that we could get a view of the plane landing over the skyline of Singapore. Unfortunately we were all played out by the Ambassy. The plane landed much earlier than it was "supposed" to do so, which landed us with this pathetic view which I got standing on the roof of my Jimny, like a whole mile away from the plane. Funny how the tail fin of Air Force Two sits framed by the palm trees so perfectly. I almost thought that the Ambassy got us again by putting a cardboard picture of the tail fin just to make a point?!
Just as I thought all these stake outs and bad PR planning was over, we were hit by another last minute announcement of the largest Ocean Liner in the world arriving in Singapore early Saturday. After many rounds of telephone calls leave me very very very disappointed by many different points of contacts who gave really bad excuses about not letting the foreign media in to cover this historic event. They claimed that called the local press but guess what? Straits Times didn't even know about this. Which resulted in me having to look at google earth again, just to find out what the best point of view is or is available for perhaps catching a glimps of her. Thanks to a PR guy that actually knows his job scope, Republic of Singapore Yacht Club let me and reuters into their mooring decks so that i can see Queen Mary 2 leave Singapore. Unfortunately she left 2 hours later than skedded, leaving behind no sunlight for any form of decent photography, but this. My caption for this? A maritime authority of singapore boat makes its way into Singapore's container port while passing Queen Mary 2 in the background which is berthed in the city-state for a one day stop enroute to KL port klang.
Why do all these lousy jobs come in pairs?!
I say better 2 than 3.

Career Oppotunities

the reason why we're choosing to stay on the other end of the camera is because we look like this
(;
It's great to be back at work cause I miss moments like these where we take our jobs very "seriously"

Thank you

To all those who had many words of encouragement, Thank you!
