Gilmore galore
I have a weakness for chick flicks. And now i'm hooked on the Gilmore Girls... its so addictive and i'm not even going to be embarrassed about it!
Terence was so sweet he bought me the second and third season. Perhaps he found a way to shut me up for a bit. I am a convert. I never thought i'd be one of those people who'd spend money on a dvd series that i'd only watch once.
I love randomness and speed talking.
And i'm sure gonna miss all this free dvd time.
So pardon the lack of blog entries and do amuse yourselves with the "talking nate video" in the mean time.

somebody; anybody; everybody
Talking over the AIM at midnight sure draws an inner talent that i never knew existed in me.
I say talent because it apparently tasted very much like a Dr. Seuss dialogue.
Those of you who read Dr. Seuss and managed to read it outloud as opposed to in your head; you'd know what I mean.
"its a catch 22 situation
everyone wants to be that 1;
but 3 of you are friends
2 of you won't want to make 1 of you feel bad
however; 1 of you doesn't want 2 of you to feel bad too;
but all of you want it."
The brady bunch
i'm not supposed to be back at work but i couldn't find a stand-in for me tonight plus it was supposed to be a quick assignment where i'd pop by and see if anyting is really going on.
I'd shoot a few frames and file two pictures at most, so after an evening out with Terence and Nate, we headed down to the assignment where we were greeted by people we missed so dearly.
We had all arrived early and before the situation got serious and before our assignment started, we managed to grab a quick family photo which was long overdue.
It was nice seeing you all and I guess we will always meet in the most un-orthodoxed manner.
Having said that, repects to our subject and May the Lord Bless and encourage the hearts of his family.

Some get hurt in war; others; covering tennis matches
Associated Press photographer Vincent Thian reacts as the tennis racket of Andy Roddick of the U.S. flies across the court towards him during the semifinal match against Switzerland's Roger Federer at the Australian Open tennis tournament in Melbourne, Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007. (AP Photo/Rob Griffith)
Poor Vincent my buddy...
I know he loves sports coverage and as they say, no pain; no gain.
Vincent, you have gained MUCH!
(i heard you that when they zoomed in the hi-res photo, they could see tears in your eyes!)
Anyway i hope you feel better and that you bought insurance..
Lesson learnt: Get hurt among photographers; you'll catch real-time footage and it'll help in your insurance claim.
Respects to you brother!
disclaimer
having been all excited i'm just writing a note to say that i could just very well be one of those first time over anxious parents that assume every little sound he makes is a word but seeing the circumstances and the repeat of events in a particular order, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he can pick up sounds and mimick them well. (and i'm secretly hoping he's musically inclined - he loves stevie wonder might i add ahahahha)
I have a TALKING baby!
At first it was fun, then i thought it was coincidental, then it happened again the next day; and now its freaky!
I have a talking baby at home!
i haven't figured out how to use YOUTUBE yes. shuddup. and i promise i will learn and put up the video.
Nate looks serious for all of 5 minutes and doesnt really blink at all during that time.
I say "Hello" and he thinks for a while, his mouth moves a little, then he says "Hello"
The same thing happened in that order..
In the mean time, this is the look he gives when in deep concentration.

Sunday
After morning service at church we went for breaky with Terence, Mimei and Daniel and then gathered the strength and courage to battle the crowds at VivoCity for the first time. So happy together... pa dum pum pum
thanks to Steph's sharp visual sense, we caught them flirting with each other
hamming it up for the lens so Steph was kind enough to come pick me and Nate from home as we endevoured to make our way over to the Botanics where we could take kids fish feeding.
It rained like it never rained before so we ended up in NYDC over at Holland Village where we had some really good pizza and speghetti.
It was so refreshing getting out of the house and hanging out with them.
Meg was hilarious with her conversations as usual and Nate seems to take well with her.
(signs of him having good taste in women--- ooo she's soooo pretty)
we're trying again tomorrow and backup is IKEA!

sorry.. just thinking out loud
So.. i don't get this.
I've observed that Taxi drivers are mad on the road, which is not a new thought. It was just a thought that surfaced. They all think they're a Formula 1 driver. They don't observe any traffic rules; they tailgate, they speed, like i mean, really speed, not seem to know what the indicator is for and get this: I don't ever see them in traffic accidents! HOW COME?

Building Blocks
a portfolio of architectural photography
by Darren Soh
runs from 11 Jan – 10 Feb 2007, and the gallery’s opening hours are Tues – Fri 11-7, Sat 2-6, and by appointment. We are located at 16-17 Duxton Hill, between the Outram Park and Tanjong Pagar MRT stations.
i try to distract darren with nate but was unsuccessful stealing that favourite print of mine
How appropriate. Nate went for his first photographic exhibition tonight and it was titled: BUILDING BLOCKS, by his dear Godpa Darren Soh. Looks like we're exposing him to the element earlier than we thought. Build 'em up, one by one... However, Even if he so choses to be a road sweeper or accountant and not have anything to do with photography, I say go ahead. Just as long as he loves God and loves people around him. (:

My respects to these people and condolences to the families left behind
Every once in a while I get this note in my email.
It reminds me of the courage and passion that so many journalists have and carry with them on assignments and it immediately re-kindles this admiration and respect i have for them.
may the Lord encourage the hearts of these families left behind.

AP staff:
I am so sorry to report that another member of our AP staff in Iraq has been killed. Ahmed Hadi Naji, a cameraman and messenger for APTN, was found dead today in a Baghdad morgue, a week after he had gone missing. He had been shot. Ahmed, 28, leaves behind his wife, Sahbaa Mudhar Khalil, 26, and four-month-old twins, a son, Zaid, and a daughter, Rand.
Ahmed was on his way to work at the AP bureau on December 30 on his red motorbike when he disappeared. AP and his family both immediately began a search. The details surrounding his death may never be known. The AP story on Ahmed will soon be posted on our Web site.
The situation for our journalists in Iraq is unprecedented in AP's 161-year history of covering wars and conflicts. The courage of our Iraqi colleagues and their dedication to the story stand as an example to the world of journalism's enduring value. We continually assess the safety of our staff in Iraq, and their families, and do everything we can to protect and support those who embrace this mission. All of us at AP share the pain and grief being felt by Ahmed's family and friends.

Which is harder.
terence trying to document the long 9 months
So..
I've had a lot of time to think about a lot of things and i feel that:
Being pregnant is harder than giving birth.
- decided this after giving birth

nate enjoying his bath
Taking care of Goldfish is harder than taking care of babies.
- decided this after having (and still am) taking care of both at separate occasions.
i mean seriously. How many of you have been successful in keeping your goldfish from floating upside down after a week?! Babies, they never ever float upside down and I love their sweet milk breath.

I miss work and no i'm not mad
So. It's been a month, 2 weeks and 3 days since Nate came along and put my life on hold. Of which I'm not complaining. But i really do miss work and the advantures that come along with it. I miss my colleagues at Ap who are ever so jaded and rude behind the backs of eager public relation companies that try to sell us useless news. That picture up there was taken in Jan 2005, almost exactly a year ago when I was sent out to live on the USS Bonhomme Richard with 2000 US Marines and Navy officers. We were out doing search and rescue operations daily for victims and survivors of the Tsunami. I miss the work but not at the expense of others of course. Life is returning to normalcy - almost - now. I get to go out to get a hair cut and increasingly more sleep at night. Baby is getting bigger and heavier, he's graduated from being the weight of a 28-70mm canon lens to a 300mm f2.8 lens right now and the downside is i don't get to put him down on a tripod or monopod. I guess time will fly right by and soon i'll be complaining about having to go back to work.
