1 year and 1 day

It is hard to believe that it has been 1 year and 1 day that Mom passed. Some days it doesn't seem like she is gone and I go to phone her or send her a message and then I remember. A couple of times in the spring my phone kept dialing mom's cell phone number...I couldn't bring myself to delete the number from my contacts. I think I still have her email in my contacts in the computer.

Other days it is so very clear.

Yesterday morning I met up with Nana and Aunt Sue at the cemetery. Mom's name is engraved in the head stone now...it was done just before we went to Disney but I only saw it for the first time on September 21st.

This time last year we were getting ready to leave the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL and head back to Georgia. It was an okay drive and we stopped along the way for a coffee (water for me).

Last week was hard ... sort of.. I would remember the texts I was getting from Jim all week. I even saved them.

I have been finding myself weepy again the past month. We all do survive.

I did forget to call both Dad and my brother and I wish I had remembered because I should have talked to them.

Cards, Cards, Cards

On the weekend Christa, Shannon and I went to a scrapbooking vendor faire. There I bought this adorable stamp called Princess Anya from the Greeting Farm and had fun colouring her in after stamping on white paper.

I made a couple of cards using her..my favorite is this one because the hair reminds me of my little princess..
This one I did for a card swap that needed embossing on it. I used one of my new Tim Holtz embossing folders, inked and added some bling with my iRock.
This one I did to apply for a design team with twisted sketches..twisted cards. Again I used a TH embossing folder, the edge is with threading water border punch

I am still having issues with making a Holiday card..I just can't seem to do it. I don't like anything I come up with..I am horrible at them. LOL

Craft Show

Christa, Shannon and I have been talking about selling our clipboards and cards at a craft show for awhile now but never do anything about it. I found an ad on kijiji for a craft show looking for vendors..so I passed it onto Christa and we are now registered for our first craft show.

Christa is way ahead of me in getting stuff ready and I am ahead of Shannon but I am no where close to being ready. LOL I have 7 clipboards to paint this week and then decorate with papers . I started some cards but have a lot to do. I tried making a Christmas card last night and I don't like it...I actually don't like making Christmas cards therefore don't like any that I make. I will probably make a bunch of birthday cards, sympathy and thank you.

Oh well..I will be prepared by November 28th..although I am booked solid for every weekend in October.

creative weekend

I have been feeling like creating for awhile now but once I get to my desk I end up playing on the computer and not really doing anything. The most I have done recently was colour some flowers, do 1 card and my last scrapper standing layout (don't want to lose now). I started out with a couple of cards.

First I did this one using my Tim Holtz embossing folder and my NEW CUTTLEBUG!! How exciting...was even able to purchase it with my 50% off coupon at the big chain that doubles all of their prices. LOL Dalton suggested I grunge up (his words were add some dark ink where the dots are) and so I did. I made 3 of these cards and dropped one off at Scrapbook Central to be used as a sample for the stamps.

The next two cards I did are still missing a work so once I get that part done I will post a pic but they are looking good. I also used my new iRock tool by imaginesce to add the gems to both cards and the first layout below.

The following card was based on a sketch by Pagemaps and was the Finally Friday sketch over at Scraptures. I am okay with it but the sketch didn't really call to me.

My next project was another sketch for Scraptures and Finally Friday for Sept 10th. I love the way the layout turned out. I made the fringe flowers following instructions that I got from another blog that I follow..I wish I could remember whose. The paper is all BoBunny (my fave paper company) and the sketch is by Creative Scrappers, again I used the iRock to attach all of the jewels.

This is another challenge..sketch is by Sarah de Guzman. I kept this one fairly simple..the hardest part were the stars. I traced a diecut, cut them out and then used clear embossing powder on them. The "H" was done with grungeboard letters, distress ink and some smooch.

I have cleaned up my desk but yesterday I bought a cute little stamp by the Greeting Farm actually this one Princess Anya. I stamped a bunch and then so far have colored one in and Glossy Accented her. I am thinking I will finish colouring the rest and then glossy accent them. I may find another sketch to try instead, we will see. :)

Golf

On Tuesday the 17th Mark and Jeff went golfing at the Palm golf course at Disney. It was also Jeff's birthday so he got to wear a cute pin announcing to everyone that it was his day. We made the guys take the camera so these are some of the photos the two of the took.

While the guys were golfing the kids and I went swimming and then after lunch Christa and I took them to Animal Kingdom. It was crowded and way too hot. So the boys did Mount Everest and we went to a Finding Nemo live show. On our way out we saw some of the parade.

Here is the one thing that I will always remember about my stay at Disney. Tuesday morning someone stole my fave pair of capris. How you ask? I did laundry the night before and like everyone else hung bathing suits on the railing outside our room...I couldn't put my pants in the dryer so I hung them up beside the boys bathing suits. At 8 am I looked outside and my pants were there...at 8:40 when Mark and I left to take him to the lobby to go golfing they were GONE! Who steals a pair of pants??!!

Hollywood Studios

Monday was spent at Hollywood Studios. We had a great time and we didn't know how brave of a little girl we had.
First stop was Start Wars..unfortunately Dalton was too old for Jedi training and Riley was about 10 kids too far back..they took the first 30. We did do the ride. From there over to the Muppets area. We took tons of photos in this section.
When we came out we saw Lightening McQueen and Tow Mater.

We then had to recreate a photo from 2007...
and 2010 (although this time she was pretending to be asleep)...

Dakota enjoyed meeting Handy Manny and Leo and Annie of Little Einsteins. While we were here the boys were off on Rockin' Roller Coaster. The rest of the day was exciting...Dakota went on Tower of Terror! I wish I could have taken a photo of her face when it did the first drop..her jaw dropped and it stayed dropped it was adorable. No screaming...unlike Christa. I think Dakota would have done Rockin' Roller coaster if she could have.
