My First Managerial Job - CBC FC

I've always dream of playing football professionally, but knowing I'm not 'pro' enough, the closest i can become is football manager. =p

Being a manager is really cool and satisfying... Especially when you see how your team work together like clockwork; perfect passes, good communication, sharp shooting and most importantly... excellent teamwork!

My first managerial work was for a match between my church Canaan Baptist Vs Emmanuel Baptist for a Futsal competition. It wasn't a good one though; it was meant to be an Under-18 match, but in the end most of the opponent's players were college students and even a age-old pastor! Sigh... obviously we lost... badly sumore: 6-2. My team didn't manage to have any training together as a team too.

Then came an opportunity for me to my team to prove our worth. It was a Futsal competition organised by Score Arena in Kuchai Lama on the 17 of December 2006 and i signed my team up for the under-15 competition.

To gear up my team, the first thing to do was to name our team. There ain't any other better name then CBC FC, Canaan Baptist Church Football Club. Next I've purchase for my team their Team Jersey.

After selecting my players and their roles, i gave them intensive training within a week.

Then match day came. Everyone was there early so i told them to do simple warm up. Even some of our 'fans' came along to support. A few teams were laughing at us for doing that, but damn they have no idea how simple warm ups can be a simple magic to success. Later i gave them some motivational talk and pre-game briefing. As this is the first real competitive match my team ever faced, I told them the importance of being relax and not being too tense and anxious. Most importantly they must be serious and have fun on the pitch. I never like my own team arguing at each other or with the opponent and swearing around, there is no sportsmanship with these kind of attitudes.

The first team CBC FC faced was Samba FC, an all-Indian team. They were really intimidating, their team were all equip with team jersey with their name printed... *sweet*, which i could do that for my team too. Their team were very organised and physical, i can see that their coached have trained them real well. In the end we lost... is really demoralising since it is our first match and it can really affect the other matches. They were so tensed and scared when they played, that must have led them to commit a few mistake in the game. However I've encouraged them by first pointing out that we only lost 1-0, that's good considering they are playing at that kind of state and with only that limited training. I then told them to focus on the 1 goal deficit only! That from my point of view they could beat any given team by 10-0 if it is possible.

Sure enough, they next game where Samba FC played with other teams, they beat them by 9-0 & 8-1. I can see that my players were all lighted up with fire and confidence, seeing smiles on their face boost my confidence on the team too; they've crushed fear right up its arse!

On the next game which my team compete, to keep up with their confidence on themselves and the team, i taught them a chant which i request them to chant and shout their lungs out in order to eliminate the fear in them. The chant was:

Me: WHAT DOES CBC FC WANTS?
Team: TO WIN!
Me: WHAT DOES CBC FC NEEDS?
Team: TO WIN!
Me: WHAT IS CBC FC GONNA DO?
Team: TO WIN!!

*ROAR* =D I can see their eyes light up with fire and Passion in an instant.

So in to the field they go... they gathered around in circles, however my team Captain Clifford changed the chant to:

Capt: WHO'S GONNA WIN?
Team: CBC FC X3

Awww... that moment really brought tears to my eyes, seeing not only I've achieved to motivate my boyz, but seeing them working as a cohesive unit, that's priceless. Like parents seeing their child growing up to become independent, successful and responsible.

We manage to win other 3 matches, with scores: 1-0, 2-0, 2-1. Wow rite! haha... All of them played their best and passion, i can literary see the beast coming out of them.

Then came our last match, an all Malay team, which means they are very technical in they play style. Like Arsenal, good precise passes and good finishing. I instructed my players to play defensively and go for the counter attack, cause one mistake by defenders would bring forth disaster. During that match my friends Noel, Daniel and Zhi Yong were there to support and gave some valueble advice to each of my players.

Through out the 15 minute of play it was really tensed and exciting, the opponent were really good with their attacks and formations, but my defenders and midfielders had listened to my instruction to keep an eye on all the attacking players and they really did a fantastic job; closing down players, blocking shots and superb saves by the goalkeeper. A few minute before the end of half time, the team captain manage to get a volley shot and shoot rite into the goal with full velocity! BOY WAS IT A FANTASTIC GOAL! My fans and players were clearly shouting, screaming and dancing as it was a final... but i was just there stunned, with that kind of shot and a goal, is just too good to be true =D

On half-time, i told the players that this is the last game and if we win this, it will mean we will have the chance to win 2nd spot. All they need to do is focus on their defend and minimise on making mistakes, and if they are tired don't hesitate to call for substitution.

The referee blowed the whistle to signal is the end of half time break and time to start the 2nd half. Boy was the atmosphere intensive, again and again we were bombarded with shots and close calls. However luck was not on our side too. Team capt. Clifford had a shot from the left and it actually went in cause i saw the ball went in and the net moved. But the referee could didn't called it cause probably he didn't see it went in and the ball went out of the goal after it went in. We played really well till the end... BUT, right before the final whistle, the opponent manage to score with a long range effort. Aiks, that goal really broke everyone's heart, cause it is the last goal and there will be no chance for any comeback. Final score, 1-1. =( It maybe just a draw, but to us it means we lost the chance to get 2nd place.

In the end... as everyone knows, we won 3rd placing out of 6 team. With cash price of RM50... damn! Our registration fee is RM80 bucks, not enough to cover anything. Oh we also won a Score Arena Pen, cam rite?! At least give trophy or medal lor... dunnit to give money... at least there's sumthing for remembrance.

To me though, most important is the experience and I'm glad my Team felt the same too. It really taught them what training, practice, discipline and confidence really do and how they fear can really destroy each and everyone of us. They also learned what Teamwork and Cooperation can do to make the impossible possible!

Exam = Disaster

Who in the world love exams?! If you know anyone who does... smack him/her in the face for me! (THnks! =p)

Assignments? Bring it ON! Presentation? Give me a topic i like i'll 'Smack talk' all the way!

Why do i hate it so much? Firstly, exam = pimples. Yes funny but true, my face really speaks out the sentence: "aiks, exam coming soon -_-". Secondly, for those who knows me well enough, no games, no football, no shopping, no outings, no proper meal... will make this boy a sad+angry+lost+confused+sick boy. Yes, bad combo. Lastly, exam have a distinct smell of disaster... this, is my story:

Law & Order's *dong dong*

It was 30/10/2006, a Monday morning... day of my Macroeconomic exam.

Woke up at 7:30am, had 3 hours of sleep. Everything just went on normally; bath, change, pack-up my notes... but somehow, i have gut feeling something wrong might happen.

Well...is 9 am, exam in half an hour time. I took my bags, went to the garage, lock the door, wore my shoes and then put my stuff in my car when to the driver seat, reach my pocket for the car key and ready to go and face my worse enemy in life... hmm, where's my....

"damn...", i told myself. Looks like i've forgotten to take my carkeys, oh well looks like i have to go back to my room to get my key. Now i need to unlock the door... hmmm now i need to get my key to the door...*search search pocket*
"OH DAMN............!!!!!!!!!!", with my eyes buldging out and my hands on my head... I LEFT MY HOUSEKEY TOO?! ROFTLOL!

No no no... is not funny at all ok!! GOT EXAM SOON! NO JOKE!

Isn't it ironic... no matter how we hate exam, we can't afford to miss them, we'll show up no matter what. Just like women, might hate them... but you can't leave without them! (Opps, sorry if i offended anyone, didn't mean to be sexist or such)

Anyway, i panic lah!!! I'm kinda stuck... no keys to car, no keys to house, exam in half an hour, man suddenly the whole situation seems like a movie... a Scary Movie 5, but is not just another sequal... is an equal!

Housemates not in, called friends nearby... all went out to uni liao, exam in half an hour time, no car, no transport... is this the end? Is Matthew gonna end up failing another paper?

Told my self not to panic and "Think happy thoughts... think happy thoughts... YES! i got one!" The exam venue is not in caulfied, which is about 15-20 min drive, is IN CLAYTON! HALLELuJAh & THANK GOD! Yes indeed, how fortunate am i, cause very very rare the exam venue is in caulfied, but who cares, i'll take tht fortune!

Not wasting anytime i walked to the campus by foot, suprisingly i didn't run, didn't panic much... The 'Stay Cool and chill' me kicked in i think... hehe. Guess what, i manage to reach the venue just in time, i was there when plp started to enter the venue. *foooH* A sigh of relief indeed.

Moral of this real life story? Leave a spare key somewhere outside your house or garage or wherever, u'll never know when sh*t like this will happen to you. =D

A day as a Promoter for Nestle

It was a last minute thing, the day before Friday (7/7/2006), the day of my job. I was out with my friend to help out with her store in 1Utama, then she realised i was so free, asked me if i'm able to help out to be a Sales-Promoter at her Nestle warehouse office in Shah Alam (nearby DiGi's new main office). I took the job since i had nuthin to do and was thrilled cause it will be my 1st... Yes! FIRST time! Working with pay, as i normally work voluntary. 10 am to 4 pm, $80. Went home and told my family... haha, everyone was laughing and excited too... Mr. J.Y. Wong, working?! My parents and brothers just couldn't believe wut they had just heard. *aiks* They went on telling frens as if is my first job as a CEO or working for some big company. Dad always wanted me to work, cause he always wants me to know how hard it is to earn money and how painful it is to spend it away. Hmm... :)

Woke up early at bout 8am, i'm suppose to be there by 10. Wore my Red shirt + Black Pants, and i'm on da move! Reach there at about 9 45 am. I felt very nervous and anxious since is my first job experience, wonder if i'm able to withstand the pressure from whoever i'm suppose to supervise me and of course... the CUSTOMERS! There's where my contrast is, i'm normally the customers who loves to bargain (thankfully seldom complain...i hope), this time i'm the other shoe.

Came out of the car, saw 2 dudes under a makeshift canopy, shifting ice-cream into the ice-cream freezers. Went over and ask them where is da person i'm suppose to meet. Oh, I kinda felt strange as they were all sweating and wearing Nestle T-shirt, and me, in nice Red T-shirt by SODA and NIC Pants.... HmmmMmMM...

Manage to find the person (sorry i really forgotten his name, but i remember he has a G in his name, so i'l call him Mr. G.), Mr. G., he welcome me and took me inside the office. Haha then only i realised the company is having a chocalate and ice-cream sale, then he told me i'm very lucky unlike the ice-cream dude, cause i'll be working inside the office beside the reception! Yeh! air-con!! =P I'm the Kit-Kat Dude!

Sadly i have to work alone, suppose to have 2 sales person for the Kit-Kat booth. 1 is suppose to take-care of the sales and the other opening the door into the reception office as it requires sumone to open the door with a remote. Wow, first day of work and i have to multi-task, opening the doors, attend the customers, taking care of the sales...

What are the chocalate for sales? Well, we have the normal 4 fingers Kit-kat, 3 packs for $5 dollars, you actually only safe $1 if you buy it outside -_-. 2nd is the new Lemon-cheese Kit-kat, 2 for $5, same price as outside. Lastly is a limited edition box with 5 smarties in it, 1 box $9, outside will sell it for $10. Redicoulous for a warehouse sales rite? Well, "if save $1 dollar, and you go to another store and save another $1, that's $2, then you can go to the $2 Store and by sumthing!"... now be a man! tht's saving ok! ;P

Here is da 'store' :

Haha!!! small leh! YEs this is Nestle's Ice-cream and chocalate sales!

OK, the experience? Think i really enjoyed it to tell the truth. The receptionist is a nice guy, gave me newspaper to read when i'm bored (yes, business is slow), then there's this store or delivery guy who luv to joke around and ask me y didn't i pick up the chics who were teasing me? Haha, dude, they are so much older k.. i'm still 21! Then i think i've also met a few of the office superiors, luvly people i should say, asking how am i, how's business and stuff. Then i think one of them is the 'boss'. Well he actually asked y the Kit-kat store is inside the office while the ice-cream is outside, yes is true, putting 2 venues fer an event is never a good idea, but wut to do, weather hot, ice-cream freezers are very warm, chocolate will melt lor.

Then 4 pm came, yes end of my job... but is TEnSiOn time again! Mr. G came down and thank me and told me "yes Yuan, it is THE time!" Yeap, check stock, to see if the sales and stock are correct. Sadly, the result ain't good ler... they were sum stock loss, and i had to pay $10 bucks.. *sob*sob* Damn customers who stole my goods and cheated me by helping me calculating :p Well it is my own mistake no doubt, but thankfully i manage to find out the mistake during the first few customer who came, and later on i make sure i won't repeat the same mistake. But i cannot stop the stealing, damn....

But funny ler, came home, whole family fer laughing at me again... "first day of work and lost $10 cause of stock lost and kena cheated! haha".

Well.. $70 for me, but i think the whole experience was worth more! Really taught me alot of stuff, and i hope readers/shoppers out there can learn this too.... but i think only 1 or 2 person will view this blog... my dude bro and dear Daphne haha! anyway here goes...

1) Be nice to the sales person, the sales person will be nice to you!
2) and also... be nice to the customers, if you want them to treat you nice too!
3) Having a open mind and heart is important, cause making friend at workplace can really help!

So special thanks to one of my best friend Ms. Kow for giving me this wonderful opportunity. Also to all those people in Nestle Shah Alam for making this experience memorable.

England Vs Portugal - Post-match report *sob*

Right after the wedding, rushed home to watch the 2nd half of the match. Throughout the game, England seems to be dominating after Lennon's introduction who subed the injured Beckham who burst in tears right after reaching the bench.

All went well, until the 62nd minute of the game... SIgh, sumhow i've saw that coming at the begining of the world cup. Sven should have sent him to anger management while receiving treatment to his foot.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Sure enuf, England was pushed to enter extra time. Things seems to look even better although they were a man down. Sumhow the english players manage to find their passion and inspiration to win the match. But as the game goes on... it is obvious England needed a finisher such as Rooney and even Owen. Peter Crouch is good at controling and holding the ball... but he does not have the ability to run pass 2 defenders.

After the final whistle has blown, England's (even me) nightmare began: THE PENALTY SHOOTOUT! Damn oh damn... is a known history.. Englishmen sucks at penalty shootouts, everyone knows that!

1st shoot by Lampard, and OH MY GOSh! How can, Chelsea's and perhaps England's best footballer and penalty taker miss?!

When Portugal missed 2 goals... i was up on my feet! THinking "this must be a gift from God"! GOd save the queen indeed! But alas Steven Gerard and Carragher... gosh... how could they wasted that opportunity.

Sigh... at the end of the nite... England lost after the desicive kick by Christiano Ronaldo. England was in tears... and sad to say... so was I. Seriously, literary in tears... *sigh* Typing this gave me a sad feeling too.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

What comes to past have to past. Whining will not help, but it proves England will have to do better and improve in alot of fields. May the new manager of England, Steve McClaren, do a better job and not repeat Sven's mistakes. To motivate the team, also to create a team which will play with full intensity!

GO ENGLAND!

Cheryl's Wedding - July 2nd 2006

Cousin's weddings always seems to be the hype of the season. Maybe because is the one events where i get to meet all my cousins and have a fun time catching up!

Really have to thank God for blessing our Wong family in one way or another, is really rare to see other people who have an intimate bonding with their cousins, probably is the value and brought up of the Wong family. We treat our cousins like our own brother and sisters. Isn't it a joy to see our very brother or sister getting married? Will i do :)

It was really an honour when i was offered to be one of the usher for the wedding dinner... how can i turn off such an offer?! Anything i can do to help out... i'll definitely accept! Serving as an usher is always joy to me, i love seeing people happy faces when they know they are well treated.

The dinner itself was fun and amazing too; the decoration, the set-up, the theme... wow! Haha, i remembered my cousin Benjamin told us at the table how he wanted to get married as early as possible, not because he's desperate... but to avoid high expectation of wedding dinner. Sigh is so so true, from the first wedding i attended till today... it just gets better and better, and of course... more and more costly. I think when my time comes.... i need to be a millionaire to hold a wedding dinner xp!

The funny part was the MC of tht nite, the MC for the dinner was Patrick Teoh! Yes what a suprise it was, but the funny part is every time he introduce back the band after each presentation, i just wonder if he would ever say the word "Now back to The Satin... on Light & Easy"... hehe

After the wedding ended... is time to rush back home to watch the England v Portugal match! Post match report will be continue on the next post, so stay tuned!

Here are sum pictures took on that nite:

The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift (Non-Spoiler Review)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Genre: Action/Thriller
Sean Boswell, who has always been an outsider. A loner at school, his only connection to the indifferent world around him is through illegal street racing -- which has made him particularly unpopular with the local authorities. To avoid jail time, Sean is sent out of the country to live with his uncle in the military, in a cramped apartment in a low-rent section of Tokyo. In the land that gave birth to the majority of modified racers on the road, the simple street race has been replaced by the ultimate pedal-to-the-metal, gravity-defying automotive challenge ... drift racing, a deadly combination of brutal speed on heart stopping courses of hairpin turns and switchbacks. For his first unsuccessful foray in drift racing, Shean unknowingly takes on D.K., the "Drift King," with ties to the Yakuza, the Japanese crime machine. The only way he can pay off the debt of his loss is to venture into the deadly realm of the Tokyo underworld, where the stakes are life and death.
Summary written by
Press Release

Ahh... fast cars & hot chics! What more would guys want? I have to admit, i'm not really a car enthusiast, i felt kinda embarrased when i kept asking my friends in the cinema "hey wut's that car model/name, blah blah...". But who cares?! I think i'm still filled with testerone, cause the sound of Blow Offs and engines RAVing just turns me on baby! Plus having a hot chic in a hot car? I'll go speechless...

K k... better cool down a lil, my adrenaline is running wild now =p. Now this is gonna be my first review, gettin a lil nervous fer no apparent reason, hehe. Now i'll try to be as neutral as possible by not being to bias. Bust most importantly... SPOILER FREE! I will review this movie by using feedbacks from both guys and guys that i went and watch movies with.

THE CAST

Everyone likes Paul Walker who plays O'Connor in the first 2 installments, no doubt he's one cool dude. However i think Lucas Black who plays the main character in the movie as Sean Boswell, does a pretty good job in the movie. Haha.. i just have to add, seeing an American in School uniform is really funny.

Special notes about the Japs in the movie, their slang is hard... i mean hard to understand! xp
SO make sure u pay special attention to what they say!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

THE CARS

MmMMm... CARS! Director Justin Lin had done a good job in this area. Cars that look good, sound good and at some point... 'feels good'.

Sadly though, is that i dun get to see much of the speed of the car as this movie focus more drifting. Still, the director manage to put in good mixes of elements, drifting, drag racing and sprinting.

Guys: Drooling...

THE er... CHICS?

"Reedie... Seto...GO!" Whoa b4 i get all excited. Ahem* Yes, boys... this movie is really meant for you... the Jap chics in the movie are yummy!

Gosh, i really have to learn the trick from Han, now that's a brilliant way to pick up gurls! ngek ngek*
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Guys: They just couldn't stop drooling...

TRACKS

The tracks in the movie are superb and really fits the events and enviroment. The track that i'm currently hooked at the moment is by the TERIYAKI BOYS: Tokyo Drift (Fast & Furious).

Tracks played during races and car chases really pumped up the scence too.

Sadly though, was the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack CD i bought, it does not include all the cool tracks that featured in the movie. Maybe they'll be included in the "Inspired" album.

Conclusion

Overall, i think is a movie that is really good for the guy audience. Gurls will still enjoy it, unless they expected the movie to be filled with hunks and pretty boys in pretty cars :p.

Is a movie that really suprised me from the low expectation i had bout the movie. Plot and story is straight forward, but who cares, i just want more races! The ending really was an extra suprise too :D... watch it and u'll know.

I'll give it a 7 out of 10.

but but... it would be superb if they featured at least a HONDA in it!

The Beginning... and hopefully not the end...

Yeap, like what the title says... hopefully this is not the first and the last post. :p I think i've already registered to 3 or more blog sites... but all i did was just register and set up the template.

I'm not a natural writer and i'm bad at it. That's the reason i've never continued my posts. Ask me to design the blog... no prob, write... aiks... unless i have full inspiration to do so. So all credit and thanks to Daphne who inspired me to register and create this blog ;)

So to keep this blog alive, i'll mostly write movie, music and games reviews/previews. Subsequently i'll write down events or thoughts that might inspire me.

So hope you guys/gurls will enjoy my reviews and 'stories'. Please forgive my language and standard of writing ya? Feedbacks and comments are welcome =D
