Lately I have been longingly looking over beautiful master bedrooms on Pinterest getting ideas for when we purchase a house of our own. Our room right now was a kind of hodge-podge mess. Far from the escape or oasis it was ever suppose to be, it had become a kind of catch all room. That is until yesterday, while Brandon was napping a sudden urge came over me and I had to do something. I woke Brandon up and told him my plan to transform our room into a welcoming, restful, and clean place. He told me to go for it but my budget….$0. I was up for the challenge! I decided to take a few before and after photos to really capture the difference. I have to say looking back at the before photos I am quite embarrassed. Brace yourself!
Before
Chipping and raggedy bedside table. Pink and blue quilt that didn’t go with anything really and lots of junk piled up that needed to go to storage. (Clothes that didn’t fit and yes that is my trusty puke bowl by the bed. Pregnant girl problems!)
Drum roll please…..
After!!!
Before
About five loads of laundry waiting to be folded and random knickknacks.
After
Junk boat and fan from Japan, Brandon’s mother lived there as a child. Vintage camera. The first Willow Tree statue Brandon ever gave me. Boxes Brandon got on his mission in the Philippines.
Before (Very sad window seat)
After (Much better! Canna’s from my front yard.)
Before
After
Oriental Brass Plate, bowl and bell inherited from Brandon’s Grandmother. Pottery from Cozumel we got on our 1st anniversary cruise.
Before
This beautiful hand carved Oriental screen depicts the four seasons and also was inherited from Brandon’s Grandmother. I love the ambiance it gives the room at night with a little back lighting.
A few more details.
And there you have it. Quite the transformation!
It is amazing to me what you can do with just rearranging furniture, de-cluttering and gathering a few meaningful items from around the house. I now have a lovely place to relax and I love it!
Thanks for stopping by.
