Crazy sock day

Crazy Sock Day

Donaven picked out his own outfit for crazy sock day. (An old pair of my socks from high school with the foot cut out.) He loved them and it was fun for me to see him get excited about school spirit.

Happy Little Cloud

What in the world am I doing up at 2:27 am you may be wondering? Well it is the only time I can really get things done and I might have accidently took a several hour nap with E this afternoon, (which resulted in me picking up D 30 min. late form school, but that’s another story) so I am not really all that tired.

It just so happens that my adorable niece is turning two and celebrating with a rainbow party this weekend. As soon as I saw this sweet little cloud tutorial here, I had to make it for her.

I think mine turned out ok and I really, really hope little Miss Evie like’s it!

Conference Crayons

Last Sunday Donaven received a brand spanking new pack of crayons and a conference packet from his primary leaders. His favorite part was that the crayons were boldly labeled Donaven’s Conference Crayons. He would proudly show them to me daily and we would talk about conference. He couldn’t wait to use them.

After a yummy breakfast of chocolate chip muffins, yogurt, bacon, and strawberries this morning; the time finally arrived to gather in the living room and tune in to conference as a family. It was so sweet to see Donaven carefully lay out his special crayons and begin to work on his packet. With each speaker we would talk about each one’s name and he would excitedly find their picture and color their tie. He also listened for key words that we had talked about before hand. The words he chose were; Jesus, Prayer, Faith, Temple, Honor, and Scriptures. He even shared his crayons with his brother to color a picture of the First Presidency.

Funny how a small thing like a box of crayons could bring about such eagerness in a 4 year old boy to participate and hear revelation from the General Authorities of the church. I am grateful to Donaven’s Primary leaders for influencing him for good, planting the seed of faith and enabling me to continue to cultivate it here at home.

At the end of Donaven’s packet their was a section to write down a goal based upon what was learned during conference. We decided to make a goal as a family and follow the prophets council to focus more on the good in the world and less on the negative.

We are going to start a sort of gratitude journal to record our blessings and good things that happen to us individually and as a family.

I so enjoyed the talks today and I am looking forward to hearing the others that I missed. I am grateful for the spirit that was felt in our home today and hope to continue to grow and learn form these inspired words given to us by the righteous leaders of our church.

What was your favorite part of conference that you got the most from?

Thanks for dropping by it means a lot to me that you care…
