Valentines Traditions

As a girl growing up in my family I always looked forward to Valentines. It was a special day when my daddy always brought home something special for each of us. Brandon decided to carry on that tradition this year. He came home with goodies for everyone.

D got a sweet sucker.

E received a bouncy balloon.

For me, a ruby red rose!

Isn't it lovely! Don't worry we didn't forget Brandon. We made him this note and had it ready with a yummy meal when he got home.

It was a very happy heart day!

Orange Fun

Random fact about me I LOVE oranges and orange juice. I drink it like coffee every morning. I am the only one in my family that will touch the stuff. I was trying to share this simple pleasure with Donaven the other day but he wasn't having it. So I showed him how fun oranges could be...

Scary right!

Well he had to try when he saw how much fun it was.

He was hooked. Pretty hilarious and scary just like his mama!

Hi! I've missed you...

Hi blog I have missed you. It's been a rough couple of weeks here in the Mathis home. Donaven got pretty sick and missed school. Now my poor Emerson is really sick. We have been to the Doctor three times in the past several days. He has... Bronchilitis, RSV, Pneumonia, and while on antibiotics and breathing treatments for all that, he developed a ear infection that caused him to scream for about 8 hrs straight yesterday. Brandon and I have been taking shifts with him through the night. We are praying for his speedy recovery. Our friends have been so helpful and kind. Bringing over scrumptious meals, and treats. Even coming at all hours of the night to our aid to assist with a blessing. Or helping out with Donaven during Dr. visits and med runs. I truly am overwhelmed with their love and support!

Happy Birthday to me...

Today we celebrated my 26th birthday. The boys surprised me with red velvet mini cupcakes and a beautiful painting they worked on together while I was at church yesterday.

These are true to life shots so please forgive the bed head... Donaven was quite upset when I blew out my candle. He is so cute even when he is sad.

Brandon then treated me to my favorite breakfast french toast and orange juice. It was amazing!

Later in the evening my mother in-law Susan offered to watch the boys while we went to dinner. We had a great time at Roadhouse. It was so nice just to be out just the two of us.

All in all it was a great day. One of the best birthdays ever!

Tonight I was thinking about how grateful I am for the group of friends I have here in Longview. Friends who understand what your going through. Friends who build you up and help you feel important. Friends that help you laugh when you feel like crying.

Last week we got news from D's urologist that he will need to have surgery again in March. This surgery could cause a few problems for him later in life. It was a hard long day. Graciously Brandon watched both boys that evening, so I could meet up with some friends for a much needed girls night. We had dinner at Newks (my fave!) and then played laser tag. It being quite some time since I last played laser tag, I didn't even think about silly things like appropriate attire and black light...

Lets just say I was the comic relief for the evening. Thanks to my dear friend Jana whom created these awesome shots. I haven't had that much fun in a long time.

So hears to good friends whom help you laugh away the stress, and quite literally give you the shirt off their back when in need!
