Kenny

We stopped by Beth's yesterday. Kenny never fails to entertain us. He brought his empty bottle to Papa. Next thing we hear is the fridge door open and this little voice saying "HEAVY.". He came out with a full gallon of milk! He looked so funny carrying that big jug. Jim filled his bottle and told him to put the milk back. He looked at us, picked up the jug and said over and over...HEAVY.

Turkey day has arrived and we SURVIVED!!!

Seven grands in our small townhouse for two nights and three days!!!  We survived with flying colors.  We are so fortunate to have  beautiful, talented, wonderful, delightful, noisey and stair stomping children.  Kenny learned that staying at Nana's means eating candy and donettes, getting into things he has never seen and just stinking up the place...God has blessed us, I hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving...

Let the fun begin!!!

Seven grands came to spend the night.  We had turkey and the fixings for dinner last night and then settled down for a nice long sleep.  Kenny went to bed at 8pm and slept to 7:30 am, even with all the noise, especially loud mouth Adam.  The kids fixed their own breakfast and waited till papa left.  (He is decorating with Carol today)  We got the tables and chairs and art supplies out and voila, art in all forms.  We have pencils, crayons, water paints, beads, glue,  paper, scissors.(sp?) and coloring books.  It was just reported that Kenny is tired of paper and is drawing on the wall.  Oh, well, I have washable crayons. It is a joy to have the children here.  Will report later how it is going!!!

Beauty and the Beast

Jim and I attended the final performance of the play last evening. It was AMAZING. The music was excellent and the performers were engaging. I was proud to be the grandmother of Jon the only frehman in the pit orchestra.
We enjoyed church and out to lunch with the Chris and the girls. No doubt we are blessed by our family.

What to do?

Retired life has disavantages...We have almost run out of projects in our price range.  Yesterday I cleaned out my christmas craft stuff...I took a huge carload to goodwill.  I think Jim almost fainted, he thought only a few thing would leave, made him feel guilty for all his stuff...so today he cleaned out his side of the basement.  Funny thing we didn't have anything to take to goodwill, the shelves are still full and I wonder about fairness.  My stuff leaves, so he can keep his?  My stuff leaves so he can get more?  His stuff has priority?  Seems to be a 45 year gap here...I don't remember saying I do to his stuff and mine is donated?  Oh well at least I feel good that my stuff is in order.  Hopefully Jim finds some things to leave this tiny domicile...

Mary Jane, child six gets a real pilgrim dress for thanksgiving

Beth called yesterday and asked if I would make a Pilgrim dress for Mary Jane.  All the other Thanksgiving feasts in the kindergarten room the children wore the costumes they made in class.  You know when it is the last little girl...full blown costume for kindergarten.  I don't think Kenny will let me dress him up....wait and see.

Can't CAMP, get PAINT!

Well it is November and the beautiful camping weather has faded into snowy, cold nights and the retireree's are stuck in the house.  What to do???  No problem, I LOVE PAINT...  I have wanted to paint the living room and the hallway upstairs.  Today, the blind guy, felt like painting.sssssssssssoooooooooo I now have a fresh view in the living room and soon, clean walls up the stairs.  This is the darkest color combination I have ever done, but I look at the dark chocolate accent wall and I LOVE IT!!!  Looks good with the piano and the chairs Beth got me.  I have helped some, but it is hard to paint and trip over the oxygen cord.  Jim sent me upstairs.  I told him I am in no hurry, and he laughed and said he wanted to finish the living room.  (I cut in the paint around the windows, and the accent wall.)  When it is finished I will post some pictures.  this retired time is great!!!

November activities

It is Monday afternoon and I am trying to recover.  This past weekend was a busy one.  I always enter one craft fair a year and it was held on Saturday.  You have to arrive early, like 7am, and set up and stay till 4pm to take down.  It is a busy and fun time.  Last year I took Kelly to help me, she liked it so much she came this year again.  Grace called and asked if she could help, so me and the granddaughters did our craft thing.  They were darling, I love to see their enthusiasm for selling.  My crayon purse caddies were the biggest hit.  I sold all of them and could of sold more if I had more.  My favorite craft, teacher mugs, didn't sell as well but I think I will try again next year.  I took my camera, but forgot to take pics...no problem, it was fun, tiring and actually profitable for the first time in 3 years...I have come a long way baby.......
