moxie fab world has another awesome challenge going on right now "let's have some fun with floss." be sure to check out the gorgeous samples on the site. i love embroidery floss; been using it since i was a kid. here's my card: i traced 5 hearts on cardstock lightly in pencil, then punched holes with the paper piercer. i erased the pencil lines, then stitched the hearts using 6 ply thread. it took some time and my fingers were so sore because i had a tough time getting the needle through the holes! i added a strip of ribbon and a button with red thread through it. the rub on is jenni bowlin "old school alpha minis."
thanks for looking!

For You Stickers
ETA- i am surprised, honoured and absolutely thrilled that my card won the "stuck on you" challenge at caardvarks!! thanks so much caardvarks; i can't wait to play with my new SRM stickers!!
i made a card using stickers for the current caardvarks challenge. everything on this card is basic grey, except for the ribbon. i love these papers and the embellies, but the letters are a bit huge. and i have 2 sheets of them so i have no idea what i will do with them.
the temps are going up (15 c) so it feels as though spring is finally on it's way! i have started walking again everyday, but it's raining today so i don't really feel like going out. but i walked twice yesterday, so i think it's okay :) have a great weekend!

Anniversary Card
another lovely sketch at cardpatterns this week! here's my take on it: the paper and circle are from the basic grey lemonade collection. the lace was flat so i gathered it a bit, did some hand stitching and added a strip of ribbon; both are a pale yellow. the rub-on is melissa frances. thanks for visiting!

I Meant To Do My Work Today ...
it's snowing here *again.* the locals love to tell me that i should be used to it, being from canada. but i hear they don't have enough snow on the hills for games! oh, the irony!!
oh well, good weather for making cards: i love this quote, reminds me to slow down a bit and enjoy the little things! the inspiration is from this week's sketch at 2 sketches 4 you.

I Don't Like to Gossip, But ...
i made another card for the 'let's get sassy: the tainter-tude' challenge at moxiefabworld:the inside reads "let's do coffee and catch up soon". as you can see by this campell's soup ad, the dazed, 'deer in the headlights' look was not reserved only for the ladies!!
if you haven't already, do check out the cards here. some very funny and lovely stuff there!

Tuesday Trigger Hearts
this is the tuesday trigger at moxiefabworld, check it out:isn't that pretty? i love hearts. here's my take on it: i designed and printed the paper myself (i'm having fun with that so i think i'll be doing more of it). it's a large card (5x7) because the hearts were that big! i made the wire heart using stuff from my stash, the sentiment is doodlebug rubons. i put some backing paper and added a heart and ribbon to the little frame and wrapped one heart in twine.
thanks for dropping by!

When You Look This Good ...
... or clean or do the grocery shopping, or whatever. goodness, with that hair, who'd have the time...? this is my card (did you notice the retro-style radiator intentionally photographed?) for the latest awesome challenge at moxie fab world. i wanted to use 'bubblegum' colours and was going to add some stitching but decided i wanted the focus on the image and wording, so i kept it simple.
i had the idea in my head for ages, but it took some time to find the right image. i found it on a graphic design site (thanks stef!), check it out.ahh... the gold old days. this is a sample of one the ads on the site... where the women kept smiling whether they were cooking, cleaning, it was that time of the month, they had constipation, or a nasty rash. it's amazing how much emotion they used in those ads... including fear, guilt, embarrassment, etc to sell stuff. i know they still do that these days, but less obviously of course. i also downloaded some retro women photoshop brushes here.
i've been saving these images in my 'blog folder' since forever, waiting for the perfect opportunity to have something witty to say on my blog, but that seems like that isn't going to happenever anytime soon, so the current moxie fab challenge seemed like a great reason to post them :) enjoy!

HB2U
have you seen the sketch this week at cardpatterns?! it's awesome!! when i first saw it, right away i thought it looked like a 'masculine' sketch to me. i have no idea why, it just does :) here's my card:the beads are from the packaging from a candle i got for christmas (see, sometimes it *is* good to throw nothing away :))) i'm pretty happy with how it turned out... i think it's happy and bright but still a masculine card :)
thanks for looking!
