Sketches! {by Tamara} 97
it's thursday, and that means another fun sketch over at sketches! {by tamara}. i didn't plan on making a "masculine" card, but when i put the blue together with the cardboard, it went in that direction, and i was pretty pleased with that because i was able to get a card done for father's day.
hope you join us this week at sketches! and leave a link so we can check out what you did with the sketch!

Sketches! {by Tamara} 96
thursday again, and that means another great sketch from sketches! {by tamara}! i enjoyed this one, and once i decided on making a little bouquet of flowers, it came together pretty quickly. it's not often that i am able to find colours that match easily in my stash, but this one worked!
it's *hot* over here!! it's been in the high 20's for over a week now and they say it could reach 32 this week! i'm not complaining though (no way!!) because after a year of sun being a very rare occurance, i am absolutely loving every moment of sunshine, blue skies, and warm breezes!
however, i have to get used to the climate here... and add the heat wave to it... makes for some sleepy days :)
be sure to check out what the rest of the design team did with this sketch, and if you decide to use it, please leave a link so we can see!!

Normal Day Wall Hanging
i made this wall hanging for myself, as a reminder to appreciate the quiet, average days, and the simple things during them. it's hanging on my wardrobe door - a recent purchase that came packaged in a lot of cardboard, some of which was used to make this project!
the current challenge at Caardvarks is to use a verse or quote. i have used a partial quote from Mary Jean Iron for this one. i love using and reading quotes, and have quite a collection of favourites i look up once in while.
Caardvarks has been posting "cards and more" - an awesome selection of beautiful creations by the dt. and as i'm still getting back into crafting and have made wall hangings in various mediums before, their ideas gave me the inspiration to do this project. i think it's a great concept they've come up with!! and, i actually thought today was the deadline, but i see now that it's not :) thanks for looking, and enjoy your "normal day!"

Life Lessons
i googled "life lessons" the other day, and this is what it came up with*. i thought it was insightful and interesting, and much of it applies to me.
I've learned that we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.
I've learned that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.
I've learned that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. The same goes for true love.
I've learned that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.
I've learned that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.
I've learned that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.
I've learned that you can keep going long after you can't.
I've learned that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.
I've learned that either you control your attitude or it controls you.
I've learned that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.
I've learned that heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.
I've learned that money is a lousy way of keeping score.
I've learned that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.
I've learned that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.
I've learned that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
I've learned that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.
I've learned that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them, and less to do with how many years you have lived.
I've learned that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.
I've learned that no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.
I've learned that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.
I've learned that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do love each other.
I've learned that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.
I've learned that two people can look at the same thing and see something totally different.
I've learned that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.
I've learned that even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you you will find the strength to help.
I've learned that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.
I've learned that the people you care about most in life are sometimes taken from you too soon.
I've learned that it's hard to determine where to draw the line between being nice and not hurting people's feelings, and standing up for what you believe.
I've learned that people will forget what you said, and people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.
*i found different versions of it on various sites, so i can't credit the source.

Sketches! {by tamara} #94
here's my card for this week's beautiful sketch from Sketches! {by Tamara}. the dt did a lovely job, so do check it out.
i guess i'm still in my 'grungy lollipop flowers' stage. i just think they look so funky and spring/summery :) I used a felt pen to do some outlining and added a few staples. the paper is from a free download 'Happy Go Lucky' from Shabby Princess.
