My Mee Not Doing Already La!

Tuesday, October 20, 2009
Yesterday, due to much restlessness, I decided to take a jog in at West Coast Park. Big disaster... I was panting before I reached the traffic lights near McDonalds. I stopped to catch my breath. Big mistake...my ribs were starting to feel cramped. And from that point on, I jogged, stopped, jogged, stopped... I guess it was a miracle that I passed and got a silver award for the IPPT. Anyway, I visited some newly renovated sections of the park...and the view was... not bad... for a harbour almost filled with shipyards and container terminals. Dammit, why can't they just add the terminals at East Coast Park? Its just so biased against the west siders! The state of the beach was stilll the same old terrible self, with all the litter being strewn all across the sands. There was this faint smell of oil or chemicals in the air, or is it just the smell of brine? I believe in the former zzz... After the short outside-run, I went home with a feeling of that I have just wasted time making myself shag!
Today, was the first time in 5 days I went back to school. However, it doesn't feel like a holiday for the past 5 days as I was busy trying to catch-up on whatever lessons I have missed. But still, there are many stuffs that I've yet to complete. This really sucks big time. Just now in school, I tried to carry with me the "desire for learning" attitude and yep, it sort of prevented me from nodding off during lectures. The only time I took forty-winks was during the interval when the DE lecture ended and the prelude of the make-up CA lecture. Other than that, I was sucking in knowledge like a desperate chick wanting to do a blow-job!

Below: Hshatriya looking magnificent with all the funnels flying.
Gundam Unicorn!! Perhaps it's one of the coolest gundams (not other mono-eyed mobile suits) due to the fact of its body armor! I have always wanted to get my hands on the MG version as it is simply breathtaking. However, for some unknown reason, I still didn't manage to get my hands on one. Then finally, after brousing through www.dalong.net, I dicovered that unicorn gundam is coming out in HGUC 1/144 as No.100 of the set! OMGzz! And for No.99, it belongs to NRZ-666 Hshatriya (The huge Neo-Zeon Newtype Mobile Suit that looks almost like Quin Mantha). It cost 4500 Japanese Yen, which makes it approximately about SGD$100. I'm really tempted to get my hands on it. However, my 1/144 Psycho Gundam isn't even fixed and furthermore, I'm so lazy to airbrush even the smallest figures. So... I think I'll put a hold on it... But for the 1/144 HGUC Unicorn... I don't think I can hold out! Releasing on Nov'09!
Having being introduced to this game by Adrian, I decided to give it a try since it is time-based and doesn't really require one to manipulate much of the interfaces. Furthermore, I've always been a fan of games with "Dungeons and Dragons Rules" (D&D rules). The title of this game is "Dungeons & Dragons : Tiny Adventures" and it's on facebook. So here goes the 1st adventure of Smiggie, the Halfling Rogue!
| The adventure begins . . . | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Smiggie found tracks that led into the fetid swamps -- the thieves must have gone that way. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Encounter 1: Swamp | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The rain was pouring down through the leaves, feeding the churning river that Smiggie was wading across. Suddenly, the stirring currents sucked him underwater. Smiggie desperately held his breath while trying to resurface. Smiggie made a Constitution check with a difficulty of 13 . . . and rolled 8 Smiggie almost drowned when his lungs gave out. He thrashed about, gasped for air, took in water, and surfacing intermittently as the river dragged him along for what seemed an eternity. Nearly an hour later, Smiggie emerged from the river battered and exhausted. Smiggie took 10 damage. Smiggie received 25 XP. |
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Encounter 2: Swamp | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
While slogging along in the swamp, Smiggie came upon a strange looking patch of wet sand. Smiggie made a Wisdom check with a difficulty of 9 . . . and rolled 11 Recognizing it immediately as quicksand, Smiggie decided to take an alternate route. It meant more walking but a lot less dying. Smiggie received 55 XP. |
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Encounter 3: Swamp | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
To say the size of the giant rat Smiggie faced off against was unusual would be an understatement. Most townsfolk would never believe such a large rodent could exist. Nevertheless it had come thundering through the roots and brambles and was now smack in front of him with its teeth bared. Smiggie made an Attack Bonus check with a difficulty of 13 . . . and rolled 24 Smiggie almost had a hard time taking the rat seriously as he stabbed it with his dagger. Smiggie received 60 XP and 15 gold. |
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Encounter 4: Swamp | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Hacking his way through the reeds, he accidentally stumbled right into a pack of kobold skirmishers. Smiggie made a Charisma check with a difficulty of 12 . . . and rolled 6 Hoping to scare them off quickly, he shook his Rusty Dagger at them and shouted some incoherent gibberish as loud as he could. The kobolds were not impressed. They drew their short swords and surrounded Smiggie. Outnumbered and getting savagely poked, Smiggie turned and fled. Easily outpacing them, he was able to duck behind a tree and surprise the first one that ran past. Not wanting to risk capture, he hid from the rest of them until he could no longer hear them searching the area. Smiggie took 10 damage. Smiggie received 16 XP. Smiggie received a Rapier. |
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Smiggie used a Potion of Healing. (Heal 20 damage) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Encounter 5: Swamp | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Hearing the sounds of battle, Smiggie hurried toward them, remaining careful not to be seen. A group of orcs had surrounded a small party of adventurers and was closing in for the kill. Smiggie made an Attack Bonus check with a difficulty of 16 . . . and rolled 7 Smiggie approached the nearest orc from behind and launched his attack. The brute's armor deflected the blow, the orc turned on Smiggie, and returned the blow tenfold! The other adventurers sprang into action, as several of the other orcs fell into their carefully laid traps. They thanked Smiggie for his unnecessary valor, treated his wounds, and even shared some of the orcs' treasure with him. Smiggie took 7 damage. Smiggie received 24 XP and 3 gold. |
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The adventure continues . . . | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Smiggie rounded a corner and was confronted by a camp filled with bandits. He steeled himself for the fight ahead. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Encounter 6: Final Encounter | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The bandit lord accepted Smiggie's challenge to single combat! Smiggie made an Armor Class check with a difficulty of 26 . . . and rolled 34 Smiggie easily dodged the bandit lord's attacks and quickly subdued him, humiliating him in front of his band of thieves. Smiggie was hailed as a hero when he returned the village's meager treasures. Smiggie received 125 XP and 21 gold. Smiggie received a Potion of Fortitude. |
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Having successfully completed the adventure, Smiggie headed home to rest. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Terrible feeling I have these days. I think I am suffering from insomnia. Almost everyday, I'd go to sleep at about 4+5am, and wake from 12noon onwards. At times, I'd miss the whole day's lesson... crap! I hope I can adjust my biological clock back to it's normal time.
Reminder: Exam starts in 1 month time. A lot of things I still don't know, I need to work double hard.
Sweet Reminder : Happy 35th Month Anniversary!

Recess Time
Speaking about Wednesday, my IPPT is in 2 day's time. I hope that the past month of training would be sufficient to make me get a past at least. 2.4km, I hope I can find the steel to make myself pass. Think 1 more month of x3 per week session! NO!
Nothing interesting happening these days... nothing nice to blog about. Guess I'll just go back to my work for now.

Times changes, but we can't change time...
What is 3-Dimesnion? What we perceive through our eyes...
The 4th dimension? Space? Time...?
Time is something fascinating. Something that we can never fully control. "Control"... not in the sense of fully utilizing your time to make the best out of your life (Something, which I failed many-a-times). The "control" I am referring to is to bend time at one's will.
There are many references to this in books, movies, and in most of the mass-media. Most notably is H.G. Well's "The Time Machine". There are many that have the fantasy of altering time; constantly self-questioning "If only I had etc, What If I had done etc..." Again, I am not the exception.
If H.G. Well's fantasy do become reality, I would want to do the following...
1: Years 1985 to late teens- If I can be back in time, I'd definitely stop being the "bad" me... no matter how mischievious my two younger brothers were... I'd tolerate.
I know, as a big brother, I am not your ideal role-model. As a child, I was constantly sided by pa (and at times mommy). I always I got you 2 into trouble in numerous occasions, beat you guys up and did many horrible things to you 2. I still remember the time when you all ganged up on me to make my life miserable. And the time one of you beat me up to teach me a lesson. Thanks for showing me humility... I was selfish, I changed because you 2 taught me a valuable lesson. Thank you my 2 brothers, I'll appreciate you guys.
2: Year 1993 - My first CCA was badminton. Which I thought that time was my ideal sport. My two brothers were into volleyball. Subsequently, they and their team went on to become national C-division champion. They seemed to have lots of fun. I looked on with much envy and I questioned my decision to join badminton. I still stuck with the decision...
3: Year 1997 - Badminton again.. This time it's in Tanglin Sec Sch. This time I regret not joining the National Cadet Corps, which my good friends Brian, Con and WeiHan were in. I guessed I still haven't learnt my lesson that that good fun can be found in good friends.
4: Year 2000 - If I was back 6 months or longer before 13th October 2000, just to inform my grandpa about his intestine and also, to seek early treatment, perhaps, he might still be around. Perhaps the tragic events shortly before 13th October might not happen.
5: Year 2001 - Should I alter this space in time? It's the year when I retained in JC1. A year of extreme negativity for me. Perhaps not... There are much more better things in life that will happen to me...
6: Year 2003 - Once again, I failed. This time, I failed my A'levels... failing to secure a place in the local university. I still remembered my Civics Tutor (MS Tie) handing me my result slip with a grim look. A look, that seems to say "you have tried your best"... For the years of 2001-2003, I hate my life in the JC. It's really very cold there...
Also, 1 more regret during the 2001-2003 years were that of joining Bowling. Used up lots of money but with no results...
7: Year 1993-2007 - I am not very sure about the end date. But it's gotta do with my hobbies. My early primary school years were filled with DragonBallZ cards. Followed by Magic the Gathering cards (on and off till I ORD'ed in 2006), Battletech cards during 1997-1999. Gundam Models from 1999 onwards till perhaps.. 2007?
If I can change time... I'd definitely not buy those DragonballZ cards.
FOr Magic Cards... perhaps I'd start in 1993 to get those alpha to revised edition cards (sought after for collection now) and top up with cards from Arabian Nights, Antiquities, Legends, The Dark, Fallen Empires, 4th edition, Ice Age, Homelands and Alliances and finally STOP. Keep those valuable cards for momento sake. The newer editions these days sucks.
For Battletech... maybe not... I'd keep them. Battletech was one of my old passion.
And finally, Gundam... I'd not buy most of them, save those models that are really eye-catching.
Imagine all the money I'd have saved!
8: Year 2004 to Present - No regrets whatsoever so far... Army life was a blast, and so was Poly life... Most importantly, my girlfriend came into my life.

Covering lost ground...
For this week, I have a slight tinge of regret as I have skipped several lectures (think I missed like 5-6Hrs of lectures!!!). I don't know why, but I feel no mood attending those lectures. I guess it's the lack of company during those lectures. Really, it sucks to sit alone. And most of those times, I would somewhat be looking "enviously" at people who have friends with them. For those people who I usually sit with during tutorial classes, I can't seem to tell myself to sit with them as they themselves have their circle of friends. And if I sit with them, I probably might feel out of place. *Sigh*...
Must go view the video streaming for those lectures I have missed...

During the next lesson (Basic Engineering Maths), realization somehow dawned on me that I did not even attempt a single tutorial for this week.. yet! So, I sat in my chair, empty-handed, as I tried to absorb as much stuffs as possible from the Maths tutor. Well, what he mentioned seems almost the same as that of the last tutorial lesson. Just that this is 2nd and 3rd order differentiation (Need to refresh on that).
After maths, it's Branda's Mr Nasty's and Wei Kiong's Mr *******'s lesson. Oh Boy how I laughed my ass off at the mentioning of that name. I know it's inappropriate to make fun of other people. But everytime the image (of Brenda pushing him down the stairs and Wei Kiong preparing the penknife below the steps) appears in my head, I know I am in for a good laugh! Laughters were minimised when the Physics tutor surprised everyone with a mini test today! It was an open-book test. But, I didn't bring my book as well as my calculator D: But still I attempted the question and I got an answer that seemed sensible. After the lesson, I asked around and many others got the same answer... except that my answer has several more decimal places. Die... wrong already.
After 3 hours of tutorial, there were 2 hours of break followed by 2 hours of Tech Comm. I was feeling very cold after the many hours spent in the classrooms. As I was on the way home, I felt so damned tired. So I "nodded" my head on the bus ride. Once home, I immediately changed into my home clothes and plopped myself into bed.
After a good 5pm to 8.30pm snore, I feel so invigorated. Good... the procrastination feeling seems gone as I hit the books. Finished re-doing Mr Nasty's Tutorial 5 and now, I'm trying to figure out Tutorial 4!
Ok, back to my books... Go Go Kevin Goh -_-

Oh No... Procrastination...
Test on Data Structure & Algorithm tomorrow, 8.30am! GAAAH! And I was doing the above shit.! After the test, what do I have to look forward to? Nothing... To put it negatively, I'd just have to look forward to more tutorials and tests... wicked...

I've managed to clear most of the stuffs in my Samsung, except for a few >160 word SMSes... sad. Now I am without a permenent phone and I'm currenly using the old Nokia 7610 that my mom used to carry. I thought I would settle for it but, it's battery drains too fast. Also, I'm contemplating on getting a cheap non-camera phone from 7-eleven or the post office the next morning. Or should I just get a replacement battery and keypad for the Nokia 7610? *sigh.. problem*
3 weeks of school pass like the wind. And the stuffs seems difficult. Perhaps they were true that Engineering in NTU is a killer... I hope I can find the steel within me. The steel that made me surf through Poly.

My phone's getting faulty...

True enough, it was my phone's problem. In order to make a call, I have to slide up my phone (a Samsung SGH F330 Music Edition). Whenever I slide down the phone, the call disconnects. Simple enough.
I realized the fault just now, when I was chatting on the phone. In the midst of chatting, I tried gently prodding the phone's top downwards, and true enough, the line breaks, and I am unable to hear any of the recipient's voice. Perhaps it's fault is due to prolonged usage. And sometimes, I would slide my phone down in a rough way... perhaps, this is why it's faulty now...
Dammit, I feel like getting a new phone now... perhaps, I would trade in this phone for a new one..

Luckily during mid of last week, I unexpectedly bumped into Wei Wang while on the way to school. I was surprised that he entered the same school and the same course as me. But unfortunately, his timetable was different from mine. But at least, lectures are almost the same. There were others that I knew too, such as Zheng Jie and Nicholas, both of whom are from SP, but I'm not that close to them previously, and, It's just wierd.. oh well...
There were several new people I met in school too. Such as Daniel's friends, Dhanny, Hadi and Michael Tom, all of whom are final year students. People from my level incuded Wei Kiong ,Hui Chi and Branda (All from the 1st Lab lesson). Hope to meet more new people, especially Year 2. Else, university life will be hard to go by i guess...

Alright, I'm gonna take this opportunity to rest for these few days before 2 weeks of training commence. Wonder will it be better as compared to the last one...

Terminator Salvation

Above: Connor(left) and Wright face to face. This was the moment when Wright discovered the true nature of himself...

Above: The T-600, a predecessor to the T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger). It's a cyborg that wields a minigun! Fierce!
I had always wanted to watch a Terminator movie that portraits the events after "Judgment Day". And after reading reviews about the director MCG (can't recall what's his full name), I kinda got apprehensive that the movie would turn out good. Afterall, MCG was the director of Charlie's Angels! After watching it, I feel that MCG did a good job synthesizing all the different bit's and pieces from the previous Terminator movies and created a story with a rather good plot. Congrats to MCG for finally making a good movie!
From the way the story flows, my guess is that there will be a next installment to the Terminator series! Please! More terminaotors, but keep the storyline good!

Grad lo~!
Thanks to all my family members that took the trouble to come down! Also, a big "Thank You" to my classmates of class DECC26 for making my life in SP so enjoyable. Though studies are necessities, the fun and enjoyable moments are the things that I'll always look back and treasure!
PS: Thanks Ah Mei, Bun Jie & Ah Ching for the tie! =D

3rd Week's Off Day - Poly Graduation
Not only today's Dumpling Day, today's also my graduation day. 3 years of accumulated work finally comes down to this final moment where everybody will officially graduate from Singapore Poly. Somehow I don't feel much excitement as it's inevitable more or less. Perhaps the only regret is not being awarded the Diploma with Merit as my grades were not good enough to fight with those better students.
Ray's graduation ceremony ended yesterday so went over to his house to borrow his tie. And at the same time Uncle Francis and Dua Kor gave me an Ang Bao as a sign of congratulations for my successful poly graduation! Kinda surprised me and I was so paiseh!
Later, only my mom will be inside the auditorium to witness the ceremony. I've already invited Ah Ma to come as well, but it will depend on weather Uncle Tony can take leave to take care of Kai and Ariel. Later after the ceremony, Jacy will be joining me as well. There will be lots of photos to be taken. Hope this event will be a memorable one!

Difficult Customers at Marks and Spencer

Below: Just a general view of my workplace :)

However, there are bound to be some customers that are unreasonable and difficult to handle...
Like today. There was this man that asked me for a fitting room. After taking a glance at the 2 fitting rooms (both occupied), I apologized to the man and kindly told him to wait. He just gave me that rude look and uttered some vulgarities, cursing his luck at the same time. "What the hell? You all only have 2 fitting rooms?" I remembered he said that sentence to me! Anyway, I took it with a smile and apologized to him again.
Another case was, a few days ago, my colleague, Joy, was serving this customer that seemed "loaded" He literally took 'all' the clothing off the shelf and he tried them all one by one! He tried many types of clothings such as shorts, 3/4s, chinos, formal pants, polo tees (all I don't mind putting hangers and placing them back to the display rack) However, it is the formal long sleeved shirts that tested my nerves. The formal long sleeved shirts are all packed into plastic with a cardboard backing and plastic foundation to keep it's shape. That customer tried like 20 over formal long sleeved shirts!!! And me and Joy had to painstakingly fold them all nicely and place them back into their original packaging. Joy had told him to try the sample shirt so that he would not be troubled to try so many shirts... but that customer refused, stating that he wanted to have the feel of the shirts as well as to see if the colours matched him. In total that single customer tried on well over 40 different types of merchandises!!!! Well, customers are always right and we just let him do it his way. When the customer was in the fitting room, Joy and me just exchanged glances and expressions (of disgust). I was like expecting that customer to purchase at least SGD$1000 worth of merchandises... However, he just bought $295 worth of items. Damned him... wasting our time. Anyway, I wasn't really THAT angry with him... Just treat that he's stupid enough not to know that most established departmental stores recommend their customers to try samples instead of the intended merchandises. I was also quite amused that people of such degree of stupidity do exist... hahaha...

Working at Marks & Spencer
The manager of that outlet is a lady called Naz (think her full name was Nazlinda). See seems like a no-nonsense person, so I guess I better do my stuff properly! The supervisor taking care of the Men's department is Wendy Tang (there is another supervisor by the name of Wendy, but I'm not sure of her surname). On the first day, the guy taking charge of me is a Filipino called Joy. He seems like a nice guy; well-groomed and soft spoken. The other people in the department are Qing and Cadie.
For the past 3 days, everything seems to progress smoothly. I encountered little difficulties dealing with customers because Joy helped me with most of the on-site problems. Today, Wendy Tang told me that its relative easy for now. However, during the sales period, I'd die! I'd better make mental preparations for that!
Food at Raffles City is quite expensive. So I guess I'd have to take away more often, else I risk burning a big hole in my pocket!
Yea, as what I mentioned, work is relatively smooth sailing for now. I'd just pray it stays this way... Hope nothing terrible crops up.

A Moment To Remember
For those that loves Korean love dramas/movies, you'll find this show very heart-breaking. Perhaps it's plot is not very original as there were 2 other movies of the almost-same genre that were released around the same time as this particular one. Nevertheless, the storyline flows smoothly and the acting is very good, it's as if I can empathise with the characters in the movie. I must admit I was in tears at some points in the show!It just made me think, if I were Chul-Soo, would I even go to the extent of doing all the things he did, just hoping that Su-Jin would suddenly wake up?
It just made me think a lot more...
Synopsis
-----------
Divided into four segments, A Moment to Remember follows the theme of discovery in a relationship and the burdens of loss caused by Alzheimer's disease.
The first segment of the film, staged in romantic comedy style, introduces the protagonists, a woman named Su Jin and a man named Chul Soo. The movie highlights their accidental meeting in a convenience store and confusion over a can of soda, followed by their subsequent courting despite the social standings that should have kept them apart.
The second segment follows the couple now settling into married life. Su-Jin learns to be a housewife as her husband cares for her. But as the segment progresses, Su-jin begins to display forgetfulness, including an incident in which a fire breaks out because of a forgotten stove. While Chul Soo caught the fire in time, the seriousness of the incident and others draw them to seek medical help.
The third segment involves the revelation of Alzheimer's disease and the couple's consequent response to it. Su Jin is heavily burdened by the knowledge that she will forget her husband and hides it from him at first until he seeks advice from the doctor himself. Despite the disease, they make the commitment to stay together and as the disease progresses, the trials the couple go through increase because of Su Jin's forgetfulness.
The fourth segment reveals Su-jin in the final stages of the disease and the grief Chul Soo experiences because of it. Yet he remains beside her, despite her lost memory, hiding his eyes behind sunglasses when he visits her so she can't see his tears.
The end of the movie finishes off with Chul Soo replaying the first time they met in the convenience store with all her friends and family in the store. Chul Soo takes her back to the retirement home as they are driving off he finally tells her he loves her.

Horntail Necked / AngieAngie visits!
Above: L-R, Bert, Angie and Me at Plaza SingapuraBelow: Loyalz concentrating on his HT. Grats Loyalz Necked + Egged!

Last Tuesday after work, I met up with Loyalz and a friend of his and accompanied him for his HT at PC Bunk. After the session, he was necked and egged. That spurred me to kinda rush my organizer to push my session to this week's thursday. And eventually, she did (Because the initial VIP couldn't make it). Many many thanks to bibibubuzz for borrowing me his HP items for HT. Thanks to Ardynn and squad for making the HT session a breeze. And of course thanks to all Buddy List and Guildmates for their unwavering support! haha!
Oh did I mention that my job application was a success! LoL! Anyway, my second day of work will commence on 6th May. And prior to that date, I'm kind of free. Better settle any outstanding stuffs before I go work, else it'll be too late.
For this week, Angie was in Singapore to have some sightseeing and to visit friends. Today, I met her at Northpoint before we headed down to Orchard for lunch. Well, I guess we've got much to chat about, prattling non-stop about maple and real-life issues, be it we are on the move or stationery. And it was then, she realized that her feet were getting sore due to the fact that she wore 3 inch high heels! So, shopping for a pair of comfortable (yet stylish) pair of shoes became priority! With the shoe issue settled, we went over to PC Bunk to go online and holla the rest in guild! Bert met us for dinner later ( I wasn't that hungry) and after that we prattled more! Perhaps tomorrow, if time permits, the 3 of us + Jerry would meet at Jalan Kayu for prata.
Can't wait for what's in-store tomorrow!
