No School Day

No school day so we decided to have some fun indoors. We had some good coupons to use up before winter is over, so we had lunch at Johnny Rockets and went bowling. Johnny Rockets is a fun little diner with 50's jukebox music and posters. The food is yummy too!
Bryanna scored a 75 (she was not happy with that score)
Gracie scored a 105
Abby scored a 93
Gorgeous bowling shoes!
Mommy and Gracie
I scored a 110
Our bowling balls. Love the colors!

I love getting out to do fun things with my girls. We missed daddy, but he was out working hard for our family!

First 5K

My first 5K was at Scheel's FANatic 5K in Sparks, NV. My good friends Natalie and Jenniffer were with me for my first running adventure.
I had been training for the last few months but this was definitely harder than I thought it would be! I never stopped running though and I made it in 38.08, just a few minutes over my training goal.
It was a cold morning but it was exciting! Derek and the girls were there to meet me at the finish line, in fact Abby and Bryanna ran the last few feet with me (Gracie was sick).
I definitely want to do another one so I can improve my time. My legs and knees are a bit sore but I will be back on the running/jogging bandwagon again in a few days.
A 5K may be cake to some but this was a big goal for me and I am happy that I accomplished it! Can't wait for the next one!

Piano Recital

Gracie's first piano recital. She started taking lessons in January. She was the first one to perform that night. Gracie played "Indian Boy" and "March". She did AWESOME!
This is Bryanna's 2nd year of piano and 3rd recital. She played "Swans on the Lake" and "The Fairies' Harp". She did GREAT!

They both had to memorize their recital pieces and we were so proud of them.

I love watching and hearing my girls play the piano. Sometimes it is a struggle to get them to practice but I always remind them that they will be so happy they know how to play when they are older! Thanks to our teacher Sister Jongsma for teaching our girls piano this year.

Thoughts

I've been thinking a lot about life lately. I've been thinking about being a mother and wife and what it really means to be a daughter of God. The world has so much to distract us and Satan is so quick to get into our minds when he sees the littlest bit of weakness in us. Some of us have to try a little harder to remember our Heavenly Father's plan for us. I feel blessed that I have a strong testimony of this already.
I try to remind myself everyday that my job here on earth is to be the best mother and wife and daughter that I can be and to become more like Jesus Christ. I am not perfect nor will I ever be here on earth but I know my role and I take it seriously and I will stand up for it.

I'm thankful to have the knowledge I have from being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and to have the Holy Spirit to guide me and my family during these uncertain times on Earth. I am so thankful to know that my husband loves me and respects me and takes his role of being a dad seriously. When we were dating all those years ago, we were very young and we married for love first and foremost but I have been so lucky that Derek is also a hard worker and a righteous man.

Life is not all sunshine and rainbows all the time i know, but as I get older I realize that it's not supposed to be. We are here to be tested and some of those tests are harder than others, but it's how we deal with them that will determine the end result. I recently saw a quote:
Today's Trial is Tomorrow's Testimony
. I love that! I hope that I can teach by example these principles to my girls so they will know that they too can get through the tests of life if only they continue to have faith, faith in Heavenly Father and His plan for each of us.

I pray for those close to me that are struggling, that they may be able to find their own testimony through their trials and that they will always seek God first before the world. I wish for all of us to choose FAITH as Bishop Richard C. Edgley said: "..choose faith. Choose faith over doubt, choose faith over fear, choose faith over the unknown and the unseen, and choose faith over pessimism."
