MOTHER'S DAY!

Mother Dear I Love You So....

Your happy smiling face is such a joy to look at it makes home such a lovely place.
I love this Primary song and I remember singing it so fondly as I was growing up. It brings back so many childhood memories and it means a lot to me to whenever I hear it. It expresses so much my feelings for my mother. She is truely the epitamy of what our Savior and prophets have asked of us ....
To have - Knowledge, Humility, Charity, Love, Obedience, Diligence, Faith, Hope and Charity.
My Mom loves her family, Church, the world around her and especially our Lord and Savior.
Here are a few pictures that I have of her that show her great loves.
At a family baptism in Oregon.
When going on vacation for family events we stop by the temple, not just as we are but in our Sunday best. Thank you Mom.

Some of her favorites are Genealogy and Temple Work. I have learned a lot from her and appreciate all her advice and help. I have a great desire to be like her.Donna and her mother-in-law Delsa Lybbert outside the Oakland Temple with her genealogy.Celebrating at DeAnna's graduation partyCelebrating Life and saying goodbye to loved ones
Feeding the squirrels outside her home.
Two of the best Mothers I know...Donna and her mother Grandma May OstlerShe not only loves her children but her husband and dotes over him daily. True eternal companions.
Happy Mothers Day Mother you are my best friend and I am so proud to call you MOM!

Spring Yard Work Day

THE THREE AMIGOS - Noah, Skyler, and Hannah
We had great weather and a fun day with Uncle Chris.
Chris came over to help us with the yard, we want to improve the the grass on the northwest side of the house.
Chris worked several hours rototilling the grass under and preparing it for compost and new grass seed.As he was rototilling he found the soil was very rocky,
so he came inside and asked the kids if they would like to come help him find some rocks. They thought it was so cool to help Uncle Chris.
They loved finding rocks and adding them to the pile.I wish I had caught a picture of them trying to pick up the large ones.
Watch the following series of pictures...
Hannah wants to help Skyler,
but Skyler has a different opinion of it all.

"I'll help....I'll help"
"WAIT SKYLER let ME HELP!"
"Cool ....I got it!"
"GRANDPA.....!!!"
"Fine....I like sticks better."
Skyler and Hannah were fascinated by the tools.
Noah could care less about all the tools, he just liked playing in the dirt.

Hannah and Skyler insisted that Grandpa sit and rest with them. They sure like taking advantage of every moment they can.
Watching Chris spread the compost

Ohhh....that smells!
Grandpa taking a turn at rototilling.Grandpa and Uncle Chris did a great job!
Thank you for all your efforts, I can't wait to see the grass start to grow.

Easter Egg Hunt with Grandkids

Saturday we had a nice warm sunny day for our Easter Egg Hunt and family BBQ. Everyone was there but Brian, Denise and Caitlyn. But we are happy to say they will be back in our area real soon.
Saturday morning Bob got a new gas grill for the BBQ. I'm excited because we will have a lot more BBQ's now.

The food was awesome, thank you Bob and Rich for the great tasting food. The day started out with Cheryl and I hiding 97 plastic eggs in the grass and shrubs around the house, we just threw them in the grass so that it was easier for them to find and then at three the hunt began.

THE HUNT BEGINS!!!

It was so fun watching the kids as they ran around looking hard for them and they were literally right under their feet. They had a lot of fun.

Skyler found the ones in the blueberry bushes...way to go Skyler!
Funny expression Skyler! I'd love to know what you were thinking about.
Hannah was so excited whenever she got a new one in her basket.
Noah got the idea faster then the rest and had the most eggs. It was fun to watch Hannah because she figured out how to get the eggs even easier.....all she had to do was follow Noah around. His basket was so full that they would fall out as he walked and all Hannah had to do was pick them up instead of hunting for them.

Skyler seemed to find all the unique spots we hid them.
Skyler loves his basketball easter basket and was thrilled to find eggs to put into it.Hannah finally discovered that there was something in each of the eggs when one dropped in her basket and fell open. From then on she wanted to check out each egg.
At the end of the hunt there was a fun basket full of goodies for each of the kids from Grandma. Noah and Skyler got Monster Jam Trucks and Hannah got a princess doll. They also gots books, playdough, and a notepad and pencils.
Looks like Grandpa is telling another of his fun stories.
Bob and Rich relaxing and enjoying the day while we waited for Chris and Christie to arrive. After they got here Grandpa led everyone on the "Real Meaning of Easter Treasure Walk."

He would read a scripture and then everyone would have to find something in nature that represented it. Some of the things they found:
  • A thorny rose to represent the plated thorns they placed on Jesus's head.
  • A long wooden board to represent the cross Jesus's had to carry.
  • A dead plant for when he died on the cross.
  • The dark garage and some black ashes for the 3 days it was dark after he died.
  • A huge boulder for the large stone that was rolled in front of the tomb.
  • and a bird's nest with eggs in it for new life that represented Christ's Resurrection.
Rich, Chris, Skyler and Christie on the large rock

The kids new just what would represent NEW LIFE.....They have enjoyed the last several weeks watching a mother wren building her nest in our hanging flower pot on the porch. They were so excited to see the eggs in it on our treasure walk.
Grandpa enjoying a few minutes with the kids after the treasure hunt. What a great ending to a wonderful day. Thanks Grandpa we really enjoyed the True meaning of Easter treasure walk.
