Zing, Zang, Zoom!!

On Saturday, Mark, Vanessa, Laura, Arianne, and I all went to the Ringling Brothers Circus in Salt Lake (we had to leave Owen because it would have been too noisy for him). It was so much fun! The acrobats were amazing to watch and we also got to see performances by elephants, tigers, and dogs. I was so impressed with the quality of show that was perfomed.

Vanessa's favorite part was the elephants. She got all excited when they came out and when they left she tapped me on the arm and asked, "Mom, where did the elephants go?" I had to explain that they went in the back to rest.

We all had such a great time and I am so excited that we were able to go and make some great memories.

Never too Old

Today, I was trying to get Vanessa down for her nap which is seldom an easy task. So I put her in her bed, kissed her, and left the room. She hooped out of bed and followed me into the front room. She then proceeded to climb into Owen's bouncer and turned it on to vibrate. She was having fun playing in it so I let her. Within a few minutes, she became quite so I went to check on her and lo and behold, she was fast asleep in it!

It worked when she was little and it still works now! I was taking to Mark's mom about it and she said that she has a massage chair cover that we could lay down on her bed so it would help her sleep. I think that is a fantastic idea. We will try it tonight and see if that helps her to stay in her bed.

Video of Owen Smiling and Cooing

Owen is so bright and happy when he wakes up in the morning. He loves to coo and smile at us. It makes us so happy to see him happy. I finally got it on video so you all could see!

Hats On

Owen has a pair of pj's that have a matching hat. He has never worn the hat so I decided to put it on him. He looked like a completely different baby! He did not like wearing it very much. So much for dress up!

Cardboard House Fun!

Vanessa is having so much fun playing in the cardboard house her aunt Kimberly made for her. She absolutely loves it and last night we got some great pictures to prove it!

When she wants to play in it she will take my hand and say "Mommy play house!" She also tries to make me get in it, but I just can't fit! She gets upset that I can't get in but I guess she does not understand that Mommy really can't squeeze through a tiny door!

Weekend in Delta

This last weekend we were able to go down to Delta to visit Grandpa and Grandma Mendoza. We had a lot of fun playing with Maria, Reagan and Cody. We also got to visit with Great Grandma Rowley.

While there we were able to go to a car show. We saw some pretty cool cars. My favorite was a baby pink Ford Mustang. Pink is my favorite color.

Mark's favorite was a 2010 Chevy Camaro that looked exactly like "Bumble Bee" in Transformers. It was pretty cool to see that car.

We also got to go to the ward party. It was fun being able to see all of the people in my home ward. This was the first time they have seen Owen and we got lots of compliments on how cute he is. I would have to agree with them all!

One of the coolest discoveries we found in Delta was at Alco. We found Extra Giant Marshmallows! They are HUGE!!! It is like 5 marshmallows in one! I will take a picture of them and post it!

It was a fun weekend and we are so glad that we were able to see our family!

Exercise!

Vanessa loves to exercise with me. The other day, I got out my yoga mat to do some Pilates and Vanessa came into the room and wanted to do them with me. I would say that she is much more flexible then I am. I am very impressed with how she can move!

She is so much fun right now. She will repeat everything that you say. Which means that we have to be very careful of what we say. She knows how to say Mississippi and says it very clearly. She also likes to say Wallaby, Albuquerque, Washington, Clifford, and many other words. She continues to amaze us with how smart she is!

My Two Little Angels!

It has been awhile since my last post and we have got some good pictures of the kids since then.

The other night, Vanessa was being so darn cute with Owen. She wanted to hold him so we let her. She loves to just sit with him and give him kisses. When she wants to hold Owen, she will come up to us and say, "Hold It?" She has a lot of fun being an older sister.

With each passing day, I grow to love my two little angels even more! I think that they have taught me much more than I will ever teach them. They are great kids and I am so blessed to have them!

Our Little Dragon

The other day, I went to the Halloween Costume sale at Kid 2 Kid. They had some great costumes for excellent prices. I ended up getting some great dress up cloths for Vanessa to play with. I also got a turtle Halloween costume for Owen to wear next year and a dragon costume for him to wear the year after.

Vanessa was so interested in the dragon costume so we put it on her. She looked so cute and she had so much fun running around the house in it. She also made a dragon sound "Roarrr" as she was running around.

2 Month Doctor Appointment

Today, Owen had his two month check-up. He now weighs a whooping 13 pounds 1 oz and is 22 1/2 inches long. He is in the 80th percentile for weight and 30th for height. Everything looks good with his development and the doctor was very impressed with his weight gain. He has gained 6 pounds in two months! No wonder my arms are getting tired quicker and more muscular!

He had to get his shots today as well. Poor little guy! I always hate taking them to get their shots. It makes me feel so sad and helpless. He is doing pretty good right now. No big side effects, just sleeping a lot.

Two Months Old

Today, our little boy turned two months old! Time has just flown by. I can't believe he is that big already. It seems like yesterday that I was waiting for him to come.

He has been such joy in our lives these past two months. He is so cute and his little smiles make everyone that sees them smile. Vanessa loves to take care of her little brother. She likes to wipe his nose and mouth and even help me change is diapers.

Some of his accomplishments since birth are: Holding his head up by himself, smiling, cooing, staying awake more, getting more rolls around his legs and arms, getting a personality, and liking only one position to go to sleep (being cradled on his belly in someone's arms.)

He has his two month doctor's appointment tomorrow so I will be able to update you on his growth stats as well.

Sick from the Darn Cold

This weekend has sure been eventful! First, Vanessa came down with a big head cold. Second, I came down with a big head cold, and third, Owen came down with a big head cold! So I have been stuck inside taking care of myself and our two kids! It is so not fun taking care of two sick kids and myself. All I want to do is sleep but that is just not an option. I sure hope this next week is much better.

Family Update

A few weeks ago, we took Vanessa in for her 2 year check-up. At the visit, her doctor found that she had an irregular heartbeat. He had Vanessa get an EKG of her heart. The EKG confirmed that she does indeed have an irregular heartbeat. After that confirmation, he had Vanessa wear a Holter monitor which records her heartbeat for 24 hours. That was several weeks ago and finally we got her results back from that reading.

Vanessa heart has a condition called premature ventricular contractions. Which means that the ventricle is signaling the contraction of her heart which is causing it to beat irregularly. Her doctor said that it is happening 5% of the time her heart is beating. He said that children with this condition usually out grow it but he wants to make sure everything is ok so we have to go down to Primary Children's Medical Center to get an Echo (ultrasound of her heart) on November 3. It is not too serious which is a relief or they would have gotten her in sooner. But it is still a concern and causes both Mark and I stress from worrying.

If you could all keep Vanessa in your prayers until we know more about this we would greatly appreciate the support. We will keep you updated as much as we can.

All Smiles!

Owen has learned how to smile! His first smile was actually on August 13 (exactly one month old) but I am so slow on keeping the blog updated. That is what two kids will do to you, keep you busy from sun up to sun down. Anyways, he has the cutest smile and is such a happy kid. And we finally got it on camera!

Some other updates are that he has his fussy time which is from 7pm to about 9pm but it is not too bad. Well, today wasn't! He is continues to grow so fast! He has outgrown most of his newborn close and even some of the 0-3 month ones. I think we have ourselves a "Chunky Carl."

He loves to sleep on his stomach. I know, I know, it is bad but sometimes it is the only way he will fall asleep. And you do what you have to to make babies happy. I don't let him sleep on his stomach at night just mainly for his naps during the day.

Owen loves to make funny faces. Here a few that I was able to take pictures of.

We really are loving having our little boy and big girl! It is so much fun seeing them grow and progress.
