Family Pictures

We were able to have a friend take some family pictures of us. It was raining that day so I believe they came out looking pretty good despite the weather. Except my hair started to go frizzy. Dang my curly hair! Here are a few of them.

Fun with Friends

This last weekend we were able to go down to West Jordan and visit our friends, Parry and Alicia and their two boys, Josh and Russell. It was so fun seeing them again. It has been a long time. We were able to go swimming in their pool. It was nice being able to get some sun and have fun with them.

Haircut!

I finally did it! Yesterday I got my hair cut short and I love it! It is so much easier to do. I especially needed that with having two kids. I can now actually look like I got ready for the day instead of just throw my hair in a pony tail. It is a fun new look and I am glad that I had the guts to cut it.

My Super Smart 2 Year Old Girl

So the other day at lunch I asked Vanessa, "What else would you like to eat?" She replied, "A sucker!" That was not one of the options! When she said that we all started laughing. She definitely knows what she wants!

She is getting smarter everyday. She know knows how to sing her ABC's even the end part of "Now I know my ABC's next time won't you sing with me." She knows how to count to 10 and is learning new words and signs each day. She is able to talk in sentences. Some of them we don't know extactly what she is trying to say but at least she is trying.

Another thing we are trying to conquer is potty training. We got her a Winnie the Pooh potty and step stool. She knows what a potty is for. She will go and sit on it and make a sound like she is going pee. It is pretty funny! We also got her some big girl panties. She has had a few accidents but it is helping us know when she goes potty so we can get on the potty before she goes in her diaper. I really don't like potty training but I guess it is better than changing diapers! Hopefully she will catch on soon! Wish me luck!

Pampered

So, I decided that I needed a little pampering! Yesterday, Amanda and I went to a beauty salon store and I bought some good hair products. It seems like my hair has its own mind sometimes so I got some good stuff to control it. It works really well and I love how my hair feels.

I also went and got my nails done. They are now french tipped and look great! I love having my nails done. It makes me feel good and pretty. I definitely needed a little pick me up this week. Being a mother of two is a lot of work but worth every minute.

Making Cookies!

For an afternoon activity, Vanessa and I decided to make chocolate chip cookies. Vanessa was my big helper. She helped me pour all of the ingredients in and even helped me crack the eggs. She had a lot of fun stirring and eating the cookie dough. The finished product tasted delicious!

Like Mother Like Daughter

Vanessa and I were having fun soaking up the sun outside when I laid down on the grass like this. She decided to come and lay by me in the same manner. It was so cute! When she did, she said, "Lay down by you, Mom!"

Vanessa's 2nd Birthday!

Happy Birthday to our sweet little girl!

For Vanessa's birthday, we went to a Castle Park by Kaysville. We had a little picnic and ate sandwiches. After we ate, we went and played in the Castle. Vanessa had a lot of fun running around the playground and sliding down all of the slides.

Ahoy, Matties!

Our little family! Oh how I love them!

Her favorite thing to do was sliding down the slides and swing on the swings.

Right before we left, she spotted the dragon. She wanted to climb on it and was fascinated with it.

When we got home, she opened some more presents. She was so excited to open them and she had to get all of the wrapping paper off before going on. It was pretty funny to watch her.

Vanessa's new grocery shopping cart. She loves it!

Vanessa loves to sing Happy Birthday and blow out candles. After we got done singing to her she blew out the candle and said "Again!" So we did it again. She is only two once!

Owen's 1 Month Old and Growing Fast!

I can't believe our little boy is already one month old! He is growing so fast and getting more chubby each and everyday. He sure likes to eat and it is starting to show! He is so much fun and such a good little baby. He still likes to grunt and squeak. There are times when I wake up in the middle of the night thinking that he is awake but he's not, just grunting. He is pretty noisy at times.

He know weighs 10 lbs 14 oz. A three pound gain in one month. That is pretty impressive. We sure do love him and Vanessa continues to amaze me with her little brother. She is really good with him most of the time and loves to give him kisses.

He has just started to learn how to smile. We haven't yet got it on camera but I assure you it is the cutest thing!

Vanessa's Winnie the Pooh Birthday Party!

Yesterday, Vanessa had her Winnie the Pooh birthday party! Vanessa was so excited to have her party. She walked around telling everybody that she was having a "Winnie Pooh Party!" It was so cute!

We had a lot of family and friends come to help us celebrate her 2nd birthday! It turned out great and we had so much fun. Vanessa had a lot of fun playing with her aunts and uncle and friends.

At the beginning of the party we had a magic show which was performed by Grandpa Sorensen. That was a huge hit with everybody. I love watching Grandpa do magic. He is very talented. After that, we had a water balloon toss. We all enjoyed that too! The kids were able to have a water fight as well. It was all so much fun.

I made a Winnie the Pooh bean bag toss and Pin the tail on Eeyore for the kids to play with. Vanessa loved throwing the bean bags through Pooh and pinning the tail on Eeyore.

We then had her open presents! She loved opening them and playing with all of her toys. She got some play food, dishes, and an apron for her kitchen, a play CD player that plays music (she absolutely loves it!), a cute red coat, a bumble bee game, Winnie the Pooh towel, a toy bus, Cinderella dress and play make-up, a lunch bag, play horse, Pooh coloring book and water colors, and Baby Signing Time Vol 3 and 4 (she can't stop watching it!).

We had a fun dinner which consisted of hot dogs, pistachio salad, chips, bean dip, and juice. Vanessa didn't make it through dinner without falling asleep. She wasn't able to take her nap because of all the visitors so she crashed at supper time. It was so funny. We tried waking her up so she could blow out her candles on the cake but it was unsuccessful. So we served some ice cream instead.

After everybody left and at 8:00 pm, she woke up and we sang Happy Birthday to her. I was able to make her a cute Pooh cake for her. It turned out so cute! When it came time to blow out the #2 candle she wouldn't blow it out. So finally we tried putting two candles on top of the cake and then she blew it out. I guess she didn't think the #2 candle was not a candle.

All in all it was such a fun day. She is such a sweet and special girl and we love her so much! I can't believe that she will be two tomorrow! She is getting so big and I am amazed at how fast she is growing and how fast time has gone! We love you, Vanessa!

Weekend in Logan

This last Saturday and Sunday we were able to go up to Logan and have lots of fun. We first got some family pictures taken by a friend. The weather was a little rainy so we were limited in the poses but we were able to get a few good shots.

We then had fun driving around and looking at some of the big houses. There were some pretty cool ones.

We then went and ate at Sizzlers. That is Mark's favorite restaurant. The meal tasted great and was very filling. We then met up with some friends at the Logan Fair and walked around and looked at all of the booths. There were some really big horses that they had for entertainment at the rodeo. These horses were massive! Bigger than Clydesdales! It was almost scary to stand close to them. We had a really good funnel cake there as well. Vanessa really enjoyed walking around and seeing everything. It was a fun family outing.

We were able to spend the night with Matt and Jackie and then go to our old ward for church. It was fun seeing all of our friends there. I miss that ward so much. It was nice having people in the ward that was our same age.

Thanksgiving Point Dinosaur Museum

On our way back from the reunion, we decided to make a stop at the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point. We had so much fun walking through and looking at all of the cool stuff. We were amazed at how big some of the dinosaurs and fish were. It was incredible.

Vanessa had a lot of fun doing all of the hands-on activities. She would walk around and say, "Want to touch." It was pretty fun to watch her. It was so much fun doing something as a family. Even though it was something small, we were able to make great memories. And that is what counts!

Digging for dinosaur bones!

Vanessa wanted to see how big the egg really was!
