Growing Fast

Yesterday we went for Owen's check-up. When we left the hospital he weighed 7 lbs 6 oz and he now weighs 8 pounds 10 oz. He has gained over a pound in a week. He likes to eat a lot. You can definitely tell that he is a boy!

We are loving having him in our family. He is so cute and I can't believe that he is over a week old now. Tell flies so fast. We are adjusting well. Vanessa loves her little brother. She likes to help change his diapers and likes to remind me to change them. She will come up to me and say "Owen diaper change now." She loves to give me lots of kisses and likes to point to his nose, eyes and mouth. It is so much fun having two kids.

Owen is such a great baby. He is a very mellow baby. The only time he cries is when he is hungry or when he is getting his diaper changed. We have been very blessed with having great kids.

Welcome Home Baby Owen!

We are finally home with our new son, Owen Rey Sorensen! We got home today around noon and had lunch with my family and Mark's. It is so great to be finally home. I hate sitting in the hospital.

Well, things went great with the delivery. We went in on Monday at 7:15 am. I was already contracting some and dilated to 4 1/2 cm. My doctor broke my water at 8:30 am and put me on PIT. Within minutes, I was contracting pretty hard. The contractions were 3 minutes apart. I soon wanted an epidural. I had to get one bag of IV fluid in me before they would give me it. So I had to endure the contractions for about 45 minutes.

Around 9:30 am, a nurse checked my progress and I was dilated to 5 1/2 cm. After the epidural kicked in I was able to relax. At 11:00 am I was checked again and to our surprise I was dilated to a 10 and ready to push! We were so excited that it went so fast. In total I only labored for 3 hours! I was able to cut off 11 hours with his labor. I pushed a couple of times and then he was here! He didn't cry when he came out so they had to make him cry. He has a high cry which is so cute and he likes to whimper a lot.

Both Owen and I are recovering well. He is very healthy and strong. I am just so excited that he is here and a part of our family.

Due Date!

Tomorrow, July 13, 2009 will be the official due date for our son. I go in tomorrow for my induction at 7:15am. We hope to have our new son around noon time if my labor is short. I am excited but also nervous. I don't think I will be able to sleep good tonight. I was able to get a blessing from Mark and his dad so I feel much more relaxed than I did an hour ago.

My mom was able to come up today and will be able to stay for a few days after the baby is born. That will help out a lot. I am very grateful for such a great family which includes my in-laws. They have helped me out so much these last few weeks. I love them so much!

Well, wish me luck tomorrow and stay tuned for the good news. I will try to have Mark post some pictures of the baby as soon as possible so you can see him. I am just in awe that this day is finally here. Nine months have sure gone by fast!

A Hard Day..

So, yesterday Vanessa had a really hard day and got her very first black eye. She was playing with some pillows in her room and got a little too close to Aunt Laura's bed and hit her eyebrow right on the bed frame. She did not cry at first but was in shock. She only started to cry after we put ice on it to stop the swelling.

She also ran into the piano bench and bit her lip. Yesterday was just not her day. We were grateful to get the day over with so she could recover from her various injuries and be able to have a better day ahead of her. I always hate when she gets hurt. It makes me so sad. But I guess that comes with having kids. They seem to always find a way to get hurt. I am just glad that they recover quickly.

Today, I am glad to report that her eye and lip look better. Also, today was a much better day for her. No accidents. Yeah!!!

38 Weeks

I had my final doctor's appointment on Monday. I am now dilated to 3 1/2 cm and effaced 70%. I am very excited to know that I made some progress last week. The baby's favorite spot to be is right underneath my ribs. I think that he has bruised them because it is very painful to sit, stand or even lie down. If he does not come out by the end of this week, I know he will be here on Monday, July 13. We are getting excited to finally meet him. We know it will be a new adventure with two kids but I think I am up for it. I know it will definitely be hard at times but very rewarding and fun on others. All I know is that I am so ready to be done with being pregnant! Please come soon little guy!

A Photographer in the Family...

Vanessa really likes to take pictures of her self. The other day, she grabbed ours and Michelle's camera and was taking pictures. She thinks it is so funny and gets so upset if you take the camera away from her. It looks like we might have a future photographer in our family.

4th of July Recap

We were able to spend the 4th of July with Mark's family. We went and watched the parade at Clearfield. This was Vanessa's first 4th of July parade. Last year we were at Island Park. Vanessa was scared of the fire engines and ambulances because they were so loud. After they passed, she really started to have fun. When candy was thrown, she would run as fast as she could to pick up as much as she could. It was so cut to see her enjoy herself. She also liked to eat the candy.

After the parade, we went back to the house and played in the water. We filled up Vanessa's little pool and she was able to have fun splashing in it. In the afternoon, we headed down to the Robert's house for a BBQ and more fun. When we got there, the kids were playing in water and Vanessa wanted to join. We didn't bring her swimsuit with us so she ended up playing in her "birthday suit." She had so much fun jumping on the tramp with the sprinklers running.

We ended the night by watching the best firework show in Clearfield. It was awesome. The grand finale was amazing. They had so great fireworks. Vanessa enjoyed watching them for about 10 minutes and then wanted to do other things.

All in all, it was a fun and eventful day. I love being able to spend the holidays with family and friends. It makes life more enjoyable.
