Happy Birthday to Me.

Monday was my birthday. The kids made me a breakfast of cinnamon toast, strawberries and a smoothie. We had a low key day since we just did a ton of stuff and celebrating with my family. Doug made me yummy Devil's Fudge Cake from his Gourmet desserts magazine. We were trying to think back, this may have been the first time he has actually baked me a cake for my birthday.
Check out Max's half smile. Poor kid got his two eye teeth pulled that day and his mouth was still numb at dinner time. Hopefully it will make his 2 incisors fall down into place so he can lose the braces.

Doug is becoming quite good at his cooking endeavors. I didn't post our Easter because it was eclipsed by my family coming to town the next day, but Doug made THE BEST ribs. He decided he could handle Easter dinner after all. They were seriously the real deal.Juicy, succulent, perfect. He grilled Salmon for dinner tonight, the kids kept coming back for more, even after the plates had been cleared from the table.

I think Luke is entering the terrible 2's. He is starting to throw tantrums and exhibiting crazy behavior. Here is a nice picture of him throwing a fit because he ate all his powdered sugar and wants another pile of it to eat for breakfast, while refusing to eat the french toast. Another crazy thing he did that day...he climbed up and got his own banana he hates bananas, brought it outside to the driveway where we were playing, peeled it all the way, threw it on the ground and stomped on it with his foot. I stopped the madness and threw it all away and as soon as I was done he got another one and had it half way peeled before I noticed. I did coax him to eat a few bites this time. Anyway, that's just a random crazy story of life with Luke these days. Oh, he also locked himself in the car that day, luckily he pushed enough buttons and finally unlocked the door so Doug didn't have to come home from work.
One more thing, our back porch ceiling fan got a little makeover while my parents were here. For a look at our new back porch ceiling fan, click on over to my other blog, BlueSusan Makes.

More pictures

On Tob's birthday, Rachel, Dad, Tob, and I went on a swamp airboat ride.

There were a lot of great views, like these old cyprus trees.
But we really went to see the alligators
Here are a couple of pictures taken at the ball games. Max earned the "Game Ball" for making a couple of great plays and always backing up the bases. He was so proud of it that he carried it around everywhere for a few days.
Rachel and Luke

We also took a little walk through Erna Nixon Park for a little view of the Florida forest.

They've Come and Gone! Part 1

Yesterday marked the end of Ten wonderful days of having family visit us. Mom and Dad and Rachel (sis) and Tobin (bro) came to see us. We had so much fun I don't know where to start. I find myself wishing I blogged a little along the way, though we didn't really have time to. It was so nice having extra adult hands to accompany us to our busy ball game schedule. Luke really took to Uncle Tob. Tob even got up with him in the middle of the night and rocked him back to sleep.
So here are some pictures and a quick little synopsis of some of the vacation events.
We celebrated Tob's birthday with an alligator swamp boat ride and a steak dinner!!

We went to Epcot!

We saw the sunrise.

And fed them our Favorite Muffins form the Blueberry Muffin Restaurant
Tob cut "flat tops" for Max and Jack,

And of course we made a few trips to the beach with a lot of shell collecting and even a little fishing.

Oh, and we spied a manatee too.
And that's not even everything. All in all, we had a great time. I'll post more pictures of our outings soon. It is no fun to live so far from family so I'm grateful they took the time to come and see us. I will miss them dearly. Love you all and I'm sad your gone.

Beach Pictures

Spring weather is officially here and it has been a beautiful Spring Break.
We ate our favorite muffins at the beach for breakfast on Thursday.
Then played at the beach Friday.

We decorated our eggs today and are all are peacefully asleep awaiting the arrival of the Easter Bunny.

And lastly, Doug decided he was up for the challenge of Easter dinner after all, and is preparing ribs tonight to be grilled tomorrow. Sweet!!
Happy Easter!
