enjoy the little things.
The bald eagle population has really been growing around here in the last four - five years. I've seen them on the Mississinewa lake the past two summers, soaring up above the trees & finally disappearing & landing in the trees. My mom has seen one right on the edge of town, on the river by the utility plant the past couple of years. She & her boyfriend have gone out to the reservoir & seen many. My grandparents have also seen as many as 15 out by the reservoir. I was never lucky enough to find any until the last weekend in Feb when I got up early & drove out with my grandparents. We saw 17! It was amazing. I didn't have my nice camera with me because I didn't think we'd see anything; I never had before.
The following weekend I got off work Saturday at 7a.m. & headed out for our search. We saw two. This one & a juvenile, by the utility plant in town. I had my zoom lens & was able to get some great shots of this one, who was perched in a tree right above the road along the river.
I am completely amazed by seeing bald eagles in the wild, yet so close to town & to people. Here are links to a couple of online articles I found about the eagles around here:

congrats! card [featuring Gelatins Stamps].
Hey Hey! I have a card to share this week. I wanted to use some of my Pink Paislee Secret Crush line & since Vday is over, I thought an engagement card would work!
I used the heart border stamp along the top of the card & the sentiment "congrats!" as well. I've mentioned before this stamp set has a lot of options. Here's a look at it:
warmest thoughts [LCOM sketch challenge]
It's time to share my second sketch project for March! Here is the sketch we used:
I had to create a card with this sketch & I found this sketch kind of hard to work with. Usually when I struggle with a sketch I realize it's because I'm trying to use the sketch too literally.
I used one strip of patterned paper from American Crafts Letterbox. The washi is from a trade so I'm not sure who made it. The stamps are Studio Calico & the sentiment is from Unity June 2010 kit of the month (fly free). The chipboard butterfly is an old Heidi Swapp invisibles piece from my stash.
Check out the inspiration from the other design team members on the LCOM blog HERE.
Our prize for the month of March is a goodie bag from the LCOM Store!
How to Play Along:
1. Make a newly created project using the provided sketch and upload it to your blog or online gallery.
2. Then leave a link to your project using the Inlinkz widget. Please use a direct link to your LCOM Sketch post and not just your blog address.
3. If you upload to online galleries, please also use tag/keyword LCOM09. LCOM products are NOT required to participate, and you can enter as many times as you want. If you don't have a particular shape indicated in the sketch, feel free to substitute.
4. There is no time limit - you can always play any week at any time, but the linking form will close on the last day of the month at 8:00pm (Atlantic Standard Time) to allow us to find a prize winner. Good luck!

i love you card.
This card was made based on a sketch I found HERE on the Artful Delight blog. I used the Unity Love Grows stamp set. The ribbon is by May Arts.
hello love [card for Gelatins Stamps].
I wanted to use my SWAK stamp set from Gelatins this week. I thought it paired nicely with the Technique Tuesday love always stamp set.
I tried a few techniques before settling on heat embossing the lips. First I tried Faber-Castello gelatos & really liked how this made the stamped image look like actual lipstick. But the pink & red were too light to show up on the chevron background & I didn't care for the look of stamping them on another paper & cutting them out.
After trying a few different colors of embossing powders & a mixture of Glossy Accents & Stickles, I ultimately decided just to use the rouge Zing embossing powder.
I used the Crate Paper Acorn Ave 6x6 pad, adding some May Arts ribbon & Freckled Fawn washi from an SC kit. I stamped the sentiment with teal damask Prima chalk ink fluid edger & added a cardstock sticker from Crate Paper.

thank you card [last YMH post].
This is my final post for YMH as my design team term is up. I've enjoyed my time with YMH & working with Kristina. She is great. I made a thank you card to share today.
I used Tim Holtz kraft core as my base & Glitz Design Hello Friend for the patterned papers. The kraft paper is stamped with Prima's hexagon net/chicken wire stamp using shabby tote Prima fluid chalk ink. I used a Studio Calico Stamp over it (with the shabby tote & white Prima chalk inks). I grabbed a Pink Paislee Mistable die cut journal tag and covered it with the same shabby tote ink & stamped a Sweet Stamp Shop sentiment with the same white ink.
It's been a fun time designing with YMH & I hope to stay in touch with everyone I met through this great team.

life is not measured (card) - LCOM sketch challenge.
Hello LCOM fans! I have a card to share based on our sketch this week. Today is my aunt's birthday (the big 5-0!) & I made this card to give her.
Here's the sketch we used:
& here is my card:
It's based loosely on the sketch:)
This is another card made using my Feb SC kit, front row. I added May Arts ribbon, some grey chevron washi by MME, & some stamps by Sweet Stamp Shop (warm notes) & Unity June 2010 kit of the month: fly free (for the border stamp). The sentiment is from Ippity (A Moment in Time). I also splattered some Maya Road emerald metallic mist.
You need to stop by the LCOM blog to get your projects uploaded & see the projects by the other design team members. See you there!

just a note [card].
I used Studio Calico Stamps for the sentiment, the zig zag stamp, & the white border around the sentiment. I used Sweet Stamp Shop "warm notes" for the grid background on the sentiment block. The grid was stamped with Faber Castell gelatos (in orange), which I used for the first time & really liked. There are quite a few different sets to choose from in the shop. I got the orange/pink/red/yellow set because I use those colors a lot anyway.
The washi was purchased HERE.I used some American Crafts glitter tape (turquoise), the orange ribbon is May Arts, the flower is Sass, & the twine I found at TJ Maxx.
I used the Prima chalk ink fluid edgers for the sentiment and the white border. The colors are teal damask & white.
get well soon [card for Gelatins stamps].
I used the Gelatins Happiness stamp set again this week to create this get well soon card.
I used ZING! embossing powder by American Crafts in rouge. The ribbon is from May Arts & the sentiment stamp is the Sweet Stamp Shop.
Visit the Gelatins blog today for more details.

Sweet Stamp Shop: guest designer.
Hello! thanks for stopping by today to see my Sweet Stamp Shop post. I lovelovelove these stamps and Nicole is so sweet. I am honored to be asked to guest design this month. I shared this card last month using the nesting stamp set and these two projects using the gears backdrop stamp set.A few months back, I shared some cards using the it's raining stamp set.
I have quite a few Sweet Stamp Shop stamp sets. I think the designs are SO cute and the stamps are really great [photopolymer] quality. I have the simple sentiment set which I've used on many cards and warm notes is great for card making too. I bought the distressed chevron background stamp and haven't used it yet. I HAD to have against the grain way back when I first discovered SSS but I haven't used it yet either! I think I'm intimidated by it. So I thought I'd put together a little collage of some of the projects I've made with my SSS stamp sets as an easy, quick way to see a lot of examples at once.
I have a new layout to share today using across the miles stamp set, as well as pattern craze that I also recently purchased.
These photos are from our trip to St Louis last summer when we visited the Arch. I used some papers I have left from my SC matinee kit and some Echo Park everyday eclectic papers. The yellow ribbon is May Arts. I added some Elle's Studio labels and the tag is from a Cocoa Daisy kit (Graffiti Bridge) that I stamped with the across the miles stamp and used a MME enamel dot to indicate St Louis on the map. The yellow letter stickers are Cosmo Cricket and the black are Thickers. I used my MS arch lattice punch. I think that's it. SO. With my most recently purchase, I also added a color wheel stamp set to my cart and I thought I'd do a giveaway.
If you are a follower of my blog and you leave me a comment today, I'll put your name in the drawing to win this stamp set. I'll leave this open until Friday and I'll choose a winner Friday March 8. Please leave a way for me to contact you! Thanks for hanging out with me today!
