This is gonna be a pretty long and boring post. I've been wanting to blog for a while but I feel like nothing is really new or all that exciting, but I think for my children, I need to be better at documenting our lives. So, here it goes...
Let's start with Lucy. She's growing like crazy!! She turned 4 months old last Saturday so she has her 4 month appointment next week. I'm very excited to see how much she's grown in the past 2 months. She loves Carter and smiles almost every time she sees him or whenever he talks to her. She rolls over from her stomach to her back when she's in a good mood and rolls over quickly. If she doesn't get over fast, she gets too tired and mad to roll over. She's a super happy baby and smiles and laughs all the time! We have so much fun with her. Lucy is also an awesome sleeper. She sleeps from around 9 pm to 6:30 am almost every night. It's awesome! She's developed some pretty sweet abs because she never wants to lay down. She's constantly fighting to sit and she'll do whatever she can to be able to see everything that's going on. Lucy rarely cries...instead she moans. It has become one of my least favorite noises of all time. We love her so much, but her moaning is so annoying. I guess it's effective though because I pick her up as fast as I can because I cannot stand her moaning for me. haha I hadn't thought about it, but I guess she's really smart.
Carter...where do I even begin. He is definitely not a baby anymore. At least 10 times a day me or Mark tell him how we can't believe how big he is getting. If I had to describe Carter in one word, I'd say independent. I cannot believe how independent he is. It's incredible and frustrating and cool all at the same time. He eats all by himself (he has for a while) and now he's starting to want to make his food by himself. He's always wanting to pour the cereal for breakfast, put the peanut butter on his sandwich for lunch and dish up all his own food for dinner. He's very quick to get out everything he needs for every meal. First he'll ask me if he can have something, I'll usually say something like hang on, let me finish feeding Lucy, and the next thing I know, he's getting stuff out of the fridge, or pushing the chair over to grab something out of the cabinets. I don't know if he's just impatient or independent or both, but either way, it tests my own patience. Lately he's been going to the bathroom in the toilet a lot. And it's very exciting. We've tried letting him wear underwear and he wears it until he wets in it and then he wants to wear a diaper again. I think if he'd let me not put a diaper on him, he'd be potty trained by next week. He always does so well remembering to go in the toilet when he's got nothing on down under. We'll see I guess. The best part of the whole potty thing is that I haven't had to do anything to push him to go. It's all been his idea and he's loving it. I guess the only bad part is when he goes #2 and thinks he can wipe himself...it's a complete mess. The first time he went #2 in the toilet it ended up being a way bigger mess than if he had just gone in the toilet. He wanted to get down and see it before he was clean, and then it was funny feeling on his bum so he touched it and then got it on his legs and arm and it was just terrible. Me and Mark were wondering why we even let him try. haha but it's been good ever since and he's been doing so good. Carter is a chatter box. He loves talking and does it all the time. He repeats everything and expects you to do the same to make sure you understood what he said. He's very smart and has a great memory. About 2 months ago he discovered ping pong while watching youtube on my phone and remembered that my parents have a ping pong table and then a month later remembered it when we went to there house and wanted to play. A few weeks later when I told him we were going to grandma and grandpas, he immediately thought of ping pong. This past weekend we got the opportunity to attend the Brigham City temple open house (which was awesome and beautiful) and Carter came with us. He was so excited to go in the temple and to our surprise and relief, he did a great job walking through it. He stayed reverent pretty much the whole time. As we were going home a few hours later, we drove past it and he said, "there's the temple. I went inside there." It made me so so happy and I really hope that he remembers going in the temple as good as he remembers ping pong. he still loves sports and is so good at them and coordinated. We're excited to be able to sign him up for sports, but in our town the kids have to be at least 3 before they can start so we have to wait a little while. Until then, playing with dad will have to do. Carter loves Lucy so much. Every morning when I go in and get him he always asks if Lucy is awake. I take him in to see her and they both get so excited to see each other. He loves talking to her and getting up close and personal...his face is always 2 inches away from hers when he talks to her. That's probably why the two of them had a cold last week. There's no stopping the germs. We love him and his crazy personality so much, even if at times he really tests our patience.
Mark is still LOVING his job. He's really lucky to have such a good job that he enjoys so much. Sometimes I wonder if he forgets he has a family waiting for him...ok, not really. I never let him forget. But he really does love his job and has so much fun working. His birthday is coming up next week and for his present, we're getting a yard. A few weeks ago, I asked him what he wanted for his birthday and he said a yard, so we got planning. They're putting in the sprinkler system tomorrow and hopefully we'll have the sod in on Saturday...we'll see how it goes though. Mark recently got called to be the wolves leader in cub scouts. It's going to be a very new experience for him since he hasn't worked with youth and he never did scouts and a child so he might need a lot of help, but I'm sure he'll be great!
I've just been hanging out at home, raising two kids...nothing too crazy...except everything I mentioned above. I do love staying at home. It's so fun to be with my kids all the time and watch them learn and grow. I wouldn't change it for the world. Some days it's really hard and I want to run away, but it's still the best thing in the world and the good times make up for the bad times we have every now and then. I still don't have a calling, I'm hoping to get one soon, but we'll see. I mostly spend my days playing with toys, cleaning up messes, and thinking about how I want to decorate my house when we save up a little money.
I think that's all for now. We get to go to Vegas in a few weeks to visit family so maybe I'll post about that trip and it'll be more fun and interesting and have some pictures. I'll try to do a picture update after this post, but I feel funny doing it since I post pictures on instagram daily...oh well, it might be good to have them in both places.
