The place we call Home

So, I forgot to take my camera to the Best of Season show, but it was great. I'll have to see if I can get some video from someone to put on here. If I don't I guess you'll have to wait a few more month when I can get footage from The Who or AC/DC.
Well, since I haven't put my place together enough for anyone to come over you'll have to settle for a "virtual tour" on the computer. We live in a "garden level" apartment (it's a duplex) and the people above us are pretty quiet. They have a little kid who seems to be a klutz, because we always hear him falling, and the lady likes to vaccuum several times a day everyday, which is fine because we're not usually here, but gets a little annoying when she has to do it EVERY Saturday at 8:30 am (seriously, you can set your clock to it).
So, here we go: This is the outside (when I got this amazing idea it was dark outside)... Then you go down the stairs, and when you open the door you see the living room... with Mark's chair in the corner, next comes the kitchen,
check out the rolling stones magnets (they separate so there are actually 4 magnets, I made them myself with my Christmas present from Mark), down the hall.. to the bath/laundry room, and then the spare room where you you would think that after 3 months of living here I would be able to have organized my half of the room, but that doesn't seem to be the case (obviously). In fact, my "stuff" has overflowed into the living room, but is hidden by the couch and Mark's chair. Mark's half, on the other hand, looks great. Next would be the master bedroom, but it just happens to be a day when Mark didn't make the bed, so we'll save that for another day. So that's our place. The location is great (right off of I-80) since Mark drives to Park City twice a week, and it's on a dead end street, so it's really quiet. Nothing too exciting it needs some decorations BAD (can you say... tax refund), but it's home and we like it.

Doom's, I mean, Valentine's Day

So, I've never been a big Valentines Day fan, but what do you do. In school, my countdown chain for February was always done in black links. Last year, Mark and I spent the day "skiing" at Alta, seeing as I've never skiied before we had quite the time. He says I do fine if I'd quit worrying if everyone around us was watching me and just ski. After a full day there I still can't get myself to turn right. And he did say that at least when I fell I would just sit down, and I didn't have a "yard sale" like the lady with the furry hood.
Well, this year we both had to work, and I didn't want to try and fight the crowds at a restaurant. All I wanted to do was sit home and do nothing. I even got him to agree that we're not going to get anything for each other because he wants a new computer and we could use the money for that. Well, he couldn't let me get away with that. I got home from work and sitting in our glass water pitcher (he couldn't figure out that the vases are with the camping gear...?) were 11 red roses. As I went to the hall closet to get a vase, I put my purse and stuff in my room, and on my pillow was the 12th rose. He's always doing little things like that to surprise me and is constantly doing things to make sure that I am happy. He's the best!

The Rolling Stones - School of Rock Style

So, Mark had his first "show" with his School of Rock students last weekend. He was a little concerned seeing as the kids weren't playing as well as he would have liked them to, but considering that none of the kids had ever picked up an instrument before the semester started in October, I think they did really well. The kids in the school range from 8-18. His group did the Rolling Stones, which lasted about 2 hours with a 15 minute intermission between sets. There were 19 kids in the show and both the bass players in this one were Mark's students, but seeing as he was "Co-Director", he gets to claim them all. Friday night was a little rough, but Saturday the group finally relaxed and most of the songs seemed to come together quite nicely. He even got a couple of the girls to do the Mick Jagger chicken walk and interact with the audience a little. I spent Saturday out at the snack table, so I had to watch the show from the doorway, but it sounded a lot better out there anyway. Now that the show is done he was supposed to get a couple of weeks off, but instead he gets to practice with the Rolling Stones kids and Pink Floyd's "The Wall" kids for the Best of Season show that is coming up on February 23rd (which is where they take the 3 best songs from all of the shows that students from the 3 School of Rock locations in Utah have done and play them in one night), which should be pretty good. I'm going to have to remember to use the video function on my camera at that one. My pictures didn't turn out too well because of the fog machine.
