Improvements!!!!

So the last couple of weeks have been an improvement. With Alyssa that is. Especially this last week or two I have noticed that she can communicate better. She has been asking a lot of questions, and I try to answer them with as much detail as I can. She gets the order of her words mixed up and I have been trying to correct her even though I know what she is trying to say. She gets frustrated easily though and she will tell me that's enough. But I am just so excited that everyday I have had a time or two that I say WOW, I can't believe she just said that.

Alyssa has been on a new medication since the beginning of February, and it seems to be working pretty good. She still has had some break through seizures but there isn't as many and she doesn't seem to be as sedated as she was before. So we are working on getting her off of the other two meds that she has been on for the last couple of years. Hopefully we can keep her on just this new one without any of the others. That would be wonderful because this is the cheapest one out of them all.

Her EEG test went well. She is supposed to be sleep deprived when you go in so that she can fall asleep during part of the test. They want to see what is going on in the brain when they fall asleep (a lot of seizures occur when they are falling asleep). Which we got her up at 4am to go to Denny's free breakfast. She couldn't figure out why we were getting up so early to go somewhere for breakfast. She just sat there and watched Mike and I eat. We have been seeing the PA at Primary Children's neurology and she didn't really know how to read the EEG results; plus we are hoping to get a definite diagnosis so we can know exactly what we are dealing with. So the head neurologist was suppose to come in and talk to us for a couple of minutes and go over the results with us but he was so busy we waited around for an hour and finally decided that we would be better off making an appointment with him so that we could have more time to talk with him and get all of our questions answered. But unfortunately he didn't have anything available until May. So we have to wait some more.
