Christmas Surprises

I am still trying to recover from the shocking news this Christmas that my boss is leaving the company soon. I looked all teary at my aunty house on Christmas day when I saw the email of his resignation. In my career life, this is the second time I am in this same state of shock. Never had I imagined that my boss would tender his resignation before me, and I am supposed to be his assistant at work. I have not been inform in advance, and even though there are convincing reasons, the deep sinking feeling is still there. All things will be different after this year.

X'mas in the house!

Kaitee has invited us to her house for Christmas count down. Luckily my family celebration falls on the following day and I could join in the fun. We made home cook food and brought a lot of drinks for the celebration. Simple decorations, a wii set and some card games is enough to keep everyone entertained.

Company Christmas

We have organized 3 games and various prizes for our Christmas celebration. Due to budgetary constraints, we had only tea breaks and the items were self prepared. There are 3 hampers and close to 50 lucky draw prizes for the staff. This year, Edmund and Suanting played the Santa and Santarina.

Primary Christmas

After so many years, this is our first time celebrating Xmas together. Although we did not get full attendance, but it is good enough to have more than 10 people coming. The attendees were more than what our watsapp chat could hold.

Christmas Preparation

Lunch during Christmas shopping

Jingyuh wanted us to send message to the rest of the team to let them know how lucky we are to be able to have outside food.

We took two trips to finish the purchase and ended up having to work late in the office during the week.

Wild Honey @ Scott Square

Minghui has found this new fantastic lunch venue which serves all day breakfast set that has a variety of eggs andsandwich.

The setting looks like an Art Gallery
2 candles for both me and Weini, I enjoyed celebrating birthday with her every year.
Along with our Christmas gift exchanges.
After lunch, Minghui accompanied me to do Christmas shopping. This is the earliest year that I have got all the presents ready. The advantage was that I get to request for gift wrapping services without the queue. This has saved me a lot of time at home.

BBQ at ECP

This is the 2nd outdoor BBQ with the office people, The last time was for our RC Chairman birthday and this time it was organized by Conan. We meet at the Thai Restaurant for lunch before heading down to ECP for cycling, Frisbee, Kiteflying and BBQ. As Tammy is unfamiliar with cycling, I have put her at the back of my tandem. To minimize the risk of falling down, I would prefer to use my own strength to paddle the tandem and bicycle. On the returning road, I have Suanting at the back. With this, I am confident that I could ride a tandem. Tatwee sat on my bicycle on one of the short journey and I have also learn how to ferry another person on the same bicycle. We have some fun games after we got settled down to finish up the food and thereafter, we sat near the sea and chat before we all head home for the day.

Paintball @ Red Dynasty

I got the no. 4 full suit from my brother for this game. As always I love to play shooting game, as I believe myself to be good at aiming. I guess this is the only sports that I am confident in. It is really fun to be playing paintball, as it requires us to work in a team to complete the objectives. Not only we need the courage and accuracy, we also need to run fast and have good teamwork to complete the game. There are 4 sessions and I have enjoyed the 3rd session the most, as I have volunteer to do the captain putting the flag on the pole as the winning team. On this game, I am able to contribute more to the team and it just made me happy. The pole was being hit down accidentally by the opponent team, which means one less task to complete the game, and I ran to get the flag, while Kaitee continued to get the dynamite. I took a few failure attempts to place the flag, as I always got hit and need to re-run. When Edmund came over, he took cover for me a couple of times and keep urging me to run fast and follow him closely. Kaitee has ran over and the two of them tried to cover me with strategy, On the second tries, I was so determine not to let them down and have successful planted the flag, I guess these are contributing factors that have made me love this game so much. However, I got told that I have not done the firing enough, out of the 120 bullets, I have only fired 10 shots and give them back 110 bullets.

It was only during dinner time at the Sushi Tei did I realized how much bruises I have got myself. The pain only start to kick in when I have finally clam myself down. If you ask me will I ever play paintball again, my answer would be a sure YES.

SFIC Dinner

This is second year that i'm attending the annual dinner event from the furniture industry council. I am expected long speeches during dinner but was surprised by the speed of the the program progress. There are entertaining and bring more laughter to the audience. Our company and ordered two tables and the attendees were mainly the RC team, the finance team and the merchandising & RnD team.

After the dinner, a few of us went to the Thai Pub (NaNa). Even though it is near midnight, the ground seems quiet and the stage performer seems to only attract half of the audience attention.

Bowling @ Mount Safra

I am determined to beat my previous score this time. Since I got myself the last position in the Company, I figured that completing against my own record isn’t any difficult task. I do believe that I have higher percentages of getting better scores this round as I have done some practice prior to the game and I put less pressure in myself to achieve good score. I shouldn’t be put in the same team as those competitive players, otherwise the more I wanted to win, the more nervous I could get, and the less composed I would be. This time, there is no strong emphasize on winning the team prizes as we are prepared to be in the last team, I can play at ease and perform at my best.

I found that it was actually easier to control the bowling ball when I downplayed the advice given by others, and play according to my own judgment. Even though our team (Suanting, Edmund & Conan) came in last, at least I have beaten my personal record and got an average of 80 points per game.

Sunset Grill & Pub

It took us quite a while to get to restaurant in the Seletar Airbase. We are here for a casual dinner and to taste the limits of the spicy buffalo wings. For normal people, it is recommended that we take each level progressively and stay below level 5.

Kaitee is able to complete a Level 30 Buffalo Wings without any difficulties. For those who could finish the whole plate of the 6 pcs wings, they will be given a certificate and have their names on the hall of fame. Even though it was an achievement to be able to eat such spicy food, it is actually not a delight to eat such fried chicken wing anymore as there is only a strong taste of exotic spices mixture. I could only not imagine how the wings would taste like by multiplying the hotness level 5 by 6 times. It is not the amount of chilli that could increase the spiciness but the addition of other more ingredients. The numbness feeling would definitely stay on the tongue and the stomach for a very long time.

Gift from Annual Dinner – MBS Stay

One of our suppliers has sponsored a one-night stay voucher in the MBS hotel. Our company has topped up $500 cash to make it one of the top prizes in our Annual Dinner. My boss has got the prize and has decided to give it up to the staff. The RC members hence got the opportunity to find our how it feels like staying in this spectacular hotel.

We stayed at the 38th floor (#3805) and have upgraded our room to
the city view with an additional $50. The hotel is kind enough to give up 3-access card that allows 6 people to enter the skypark at the same time. We could all stay that the rooftop together.

As I am not into swimming, I took the opportunity to walk around the skypark and got to know 2 ladies from Florida and Colordo. They are both here for a security conference and were surprised that a young local like me would stay in MBS.

snapshot with spongebob before everyone comes in..

happily waiting for his princess to come...

As part of the plan, Daphne came with a nice customized birthday cake for K
aitee. The top of the cake has her favorite cartoon character spongebob on it.

We had a sumptuous dinner at a classy Japanese restaurant, followed by a one-hour pool session and 2 rounds of Daytona car racing.

Back at the hotel, it’s another serious drinking session with Bailey and Champagne. Kaitee got herself drunk again for the second time and we had to clear our head with the Bak Ku Teh supper.

So much for a day considering that I had a bowling session with the finance team and lesson conducted by William in the morning and thereafter rushing to lunch at cineleisure.

Right after checkout, we followed Kaitee to meet her friends for Karaoke before heading home. My sleep debts are surely accumulating.

First time to Ubin

Boat ride - $2.50 per way, Bike rental - $6.00

Happy morning dim sum and an sze char dinner followed by window-shopping in Ikea.

It is a real thrilling experience.
We went into the Chek Jawa wetlands and saw a few wild boars in the size of a rhinoceros and also a green snake. There is a coconut that fell from the tree with a big impact but luckily no one was hurt.
