Our Last Month in Utah

Our last month in Utah was filled with fun & interesting experiences. Right before Mike headed back to the East coast for job interviews, we had a mandatory evacuation of our neighborhood. We lived on the side of a mountain and on the main street down below, a construction crew accidentally broke into a 16" wide natural gas pipe. The smell accompanying the gas filled our home so we closed the windows which didn't do too much to rid the house of the smell. As the smell was getting worse, a police officer banged on our door yelling for us to get out. It was a very scary moment. I hurried and got the kids ready, grabbed anything important yes I took my digital documents (portable hard drive), some photo albums and kid necessities...many diapers. At that moment, thinking I was prepared I found out not much later that I wasn't. I was suppose to be attending my ballet class that night and in the moment of getting everything else, I forgot my dance clothes not having any idea it was a Thursday. Unexpected things come up and you always have to be prepared. After that incident I posted a daily schedule of what happens during the week so if anything happens like that again I can look at the schedule for a particular day and see what needs to be taken during an unexpected event. Lesson learned: It is very important to have your things prepared in advance or a list prepared in advance of what you need on a particular day because it is very difficult to remember EVERYTHING under pressure.

For two weeks while Mike was back East, our days were filled with parks, friends, a water fountain park and a difficult ballet class. Lets just say that it wasn't a very good idea to take the kids to my 8:30-10pm ballet class expecting that they would watch movies and play in the lobby. No, they decided to walk back and forth over the dance floor to see Mommy and when they were done with Mommy, they'd walk back to the lobby. I'm pretty sure the whole class didn't learn anything new that night. Overall, it was a good experience for the kids to see where Mommy goes dressed up in tights & a leotard. I was able to share with them something I have enjoyed since I was their ages.

Water Fountain Park fun. The kids went with their friends to this cool water park. Ethan wasn't quite sure if it was okay to touch the water. It was funny to watch.

Aunt Rachel & Uncle Trevor came for a short visit.

Mike played football every Saturday morning with the ward for the past 4 yrs or so.

The kids enjoyed playing in the dirt at the "football park" as Katie calls it.
