Communication

Ethan is the cutest. Last night Mike was sitting at the computer and Ethan went to his new favorite place to play...the computer desk drawer and cupboard. Of course since Mike doesn't change diapers, he mentions to me he thinks Ethan is poopy. By this time, Ethan had already found a new place to play...a large box he likes to sit on top of. I asked Ethan "Are you poopy?" He nods his head yes. Then I ask "Do you need your diaper changed?" Once again, Ethan nods his head yes. Lastly I say "okay, lets go up stairs." And Ethan immediately runs over to the stairs and tries to open the gate to head up. Smart kid :)

Ethan is a great communicator. He nods his head for yes or shakes his head for no. He signs when he is hungry and signs & then leads us directly to the refrigerator when he is thirsty. It's great!

Pumpkin Time

In past years we haven't been able to get together as a family to carve pumpkins so I've had Katie color on the outside of them with markers. She has always had a blast doing that so this year when we went to buy our pumpkins she started talking about how she was going to color on them with lots of colors, etc. I told her this year, we're going to carve them. She had no idea what I was talking about. She figured it out quickly when we started. Her response "it's nasty inside!" Not sure where she's heard the word "nasty" but she definitely got her point across. It was hilarious. We all had fun!

Mike was working so it was a little difficult by myself to get pictures with Ethan running toward the pond between each picture but I got some pretty good ones :)

Mike thought it was weird I only had pictures up of the views our new place has. Here's a picture of the actual place. You can also see a little bit of the new addition to our family, a chevy blazer.

My Mom & Sister


Thank you so much to some of the guys in our ward for moving the "big" stuff and to my mom & sister for coming and helping out with everything else. There is no way I would've been able to finish moving & cleaning with out my Mom & my sister Brooke. THANK YOU!

We love our new place!! We didn't move far just to South Provo. I do miss the ward and being walking distance to grocery stores and the public library but it's great here. So peaceful. We're next too the mountains in the hills. I'm a little nervous for the snow and the steep roads. We have so much more room!! 3 beds, 1.5 baths. It's fantastic! Nap time is so much easier now :) Katie loves the grass in the front. She goes out there all the time. I love the views from our windows. So beautiful!

Wind

Ethan loves the wind. He is always trying to catch it. I on the other hand, don't but I'm starting to enjoy it again. It was very windy today. Leaves were going everywhere. It was a great feeling to know that we don't have to run out and move our car :) In our previous apartment, there was a huge tree above our car. A rather large limb fell off that tree a while ago totaling one van and damaging two others. (Our landlord claimed no responsibility) It was a race every time it was windy to run out and move our car out of the parking lot to a safe spot on the street even if it was in the middle of the night.

Ethan was sitting perfectly comfortable in the chair before his sister came to take it over or "share." First he was a little annoyed.

Then he was trying to figure out how to get her out.

Once he realized he wasn't going to get her out, he looked to me for help.

Mike's Grandma, Grandpa & Uncle on his Mom's side came for a short visit. It was great for Katie to finally meet her Great Grandparents & Great Uncle. She had a lot of fun and was sad when they left.

Ethan's 1st Birthday!

Ethan had a great Birthday on September 16th! He didn't quite understand how to open his presents but he had fun playing w/ the wrapping paper and finally with what was inside. He loved his chocolate cake!! He couldn't even wait until we were done singing him Happy Birthday before he started going after the cake.

My Little Princess

So sweet. I found Katie in the corner sitting, reading her scriptures.

Holes

We were on a walk one day and Katie tripped on a plastic box in the grass filled w/ water. Now she's always on the look out for boxes in the grass or holes in the street. Mike told her that these holes w/ lids are called man holes. Every time she sees one she says "don't step in the guy hole!" and if its not guy hole, its a boy hole.

Visiting Daddy at Work

Daddy was working on a job building stairs and a deck at someone's ranch. We were able to go and look at the animals. Katie had a lot of fun!

Katie seems to have to pick up a leaf when she finds one on the ground or she'll grab one from the tree above our car in the parking lot. We found this leaf looking bug in the hallway outside our front door. It looks so much like a leaf that when Katie was about to pick it up she was frightened that it moved and so she jumped back. That was on our way out that day. On our way inside, Katie made sure to find something to keep the bug company. Well, the bug must not have liked Katie's gifts because later on that night the bug had moved in the other direction.
