"Woolly Bear Catapiler"

My favorite photo here is the one of the jar.  There is a small brown and black banded caterpillar in this jar.  Rylee found it yesterday in the yard as we were shooting the BB gun.  She promptly put it into a jar, gathered her some food, and declared it to be a girl.  I told Rylee that the jar shouldn't be in direct sunlight, so she covered the sun exposed side with foil taped directly to the wooden planks on the back stairs (scotch tape).  Then she made the sign out of paper, sticks, and scotch tape.

The sign reads:  "do not toch the fuzzy catapiler in the garr.  Thank you"

It is complete with a small drawing of the caterpillar.

The other photos are from our hike up Wheeler canyon, near Pineview Reservoir just east of Ogden. Maya was in my backpack for the majority of the hike, although she and hiked about every 10 minutes.  She was a good sport, and we were only on the trail for about an hour. We just went slow, throwing rocks into the stream, looking for bugs and cool rocks, climbing boulders and hopping logs.

Fun time.

Steel Pumpkins

These three steel pumpkins were a gift to us from a good friend who is a metal worker. They perch in the window of our great room casting eerie shadows when its dark.

Beater Licker

Maya was just in the right spots at the right times today to score an Oreo cookie, and then later also the frosting mix for Rylee's cake.

Family Pictures

Had family pictures today. Central Ogden is a cool place, there are several piano's placed around the city historic district all in the name of art. Today was also Rylees baptismal picture day. She went and changed into her white dress after family photos. Baptism day is Sept 28th.

Bear Lake

Trip to Bear Lake this year was Super cool. Lauren and Janna both had their first knee boarding experience. Rylee got a wild ride on the tube, didn't like it at all. Maya got to play in the mud as long as she wanted.

Me and Janna's dad completed the 50 mile trek around the Bear Lake, started at 6am and it took us almost 3 hours.

We shot the candy cannon, and the water balloon launcher. I even got to try some wake boarding, which was very fun. It was also Laurens 10th birthday, she got a BB gun among other things.
