年初七

This weekend seems to be particularly quiet for me. I only went out to sls to accompany my friends to grab some stuffs. Otherwise, it was quite a quiet, mundane weekend. It seems like most of the 3a people were not free yesterday, the supposed-to-be outing flopped.

This weekend passed too quickly man. Too quick for my liking.

Was too bored, and found this test thingy.

Your Brain Usage Profile:

Auditory : 64%
Visual : 35%
Left : 57%
Right : 42%

Leslie, you are mildly left-hemisphere dominant while showing a slight preference for auditory processing. This overall combination seems to indicate a well-working blend of logic and judgment and organization, with sufficient intuition, perception and creativity to balance that dominance.

You will at times experience conflict between how you feel and what you think which will generally be resolved in favor of what you think. You will find yourself interested in the practical applications of whatever material you have learned or whatever situation you face and will retain the ability to refine whatever knowledge you possess or aspects of whatever position you are in.

By and large, you will orient yourself toward intellectual activities and structure. Though not rigid, you will schedule yourself, plan, and focus on routine and continuity of operations, rather than on changes and disruptions

When changes or disruptions occur, you are likely to consider first how to ensure that such disruptions do The same balance is reflected in your sensory preference. You will tend to be reflective and measured in your interaction style. For the most part, you will be considered objective without being cold and goal-oriented while retaining the capacity to listen to others.

Preferentially you learn by listening and maintaining significant internal dialogues with yourself. Nevertheless, you have sufficient visualization capabilities to benefit from using graphs, charts, doodles, or even body movement to enhance your comprehension and memory.

To the extent that you are even implicitly aware of your hemispheric dominance and sensory style, you will feel most comfortable in those arenas which emphasize verbal skills and logic. Teaching, law, and science are those that stand out among the professions, along with technical sales and management.

CNY 初一

This year Chinese New Year is the same as any other year, receiving angbaos with glee, then stone at the sofa and spend the whole day watching tv and get grilled by relatives who will ask you some generic questions. "Where are you studying now?", "Got any girlfried?" , just to name a few examples.

Anyway, I was watching this CCTV 4 Chinese New Year variety show. There were songs, skits and dance items. What struck me was that there were a few song items dedicated to the soldiers doing duties at their borders. The host was saying, "Let's dedicate the next few songs to the hardworking soldiers who are protecting our borders at this very moment and wish them a happy new year"

They really appreicate what the soldiers are actually doing, protecting their land. While nsfs in Singapore seem to be treated like dirt, no one recongize our effort, time, energy spent.

The most touching skit I thought was performed by a group of children who came all the way from the rural area. They were reciting some kind of 朗诵 thingy. The lyrics was saying about how despite their poor conditions they are studying in, run-down school buildings, creaking wooden chairs and tables, they still manage to get decent results. They also sang about how proud they are of their parents as their parents helped to build the wonderful city area as construction workers, labour workers etc.

I thought it was very good to remind people who are busily celebrating chinese new year with all the good food, drinks and all, there are actually people who are in a poorer state than us and they need our help. We should give more care and concern to others, especially those underprivileged people during these festive seasons. That's why I always thought the BB charity box is a very meaningful project. I still remember I once saw a middle-aged couple carrying a few carrier bags from the supermarket, Cold Storage along the pavement outside Wisma. They later went to the charity box there and deposited the bags.

Such a heart-warming moment.

CNY

I just had a pre-CNY reunion dinner with with maternal grandmother and relatives. So, why am I having reunion dinner one week in advance? Well, my grandmother and uncle will be going to China for holiday during the Chinese New Year period. We had seafood at Jumbo Seafood at East Coast Park Seafood Centre. I think I will be staying at home for most of the CNY holidays.

I dont know, I just feel that this year's CNY doesnt seem to be buzzing at all. Maybe I have been cooped in my house for too long. The shopping centres seem to be lacking in the atmospheres and the physical decoration. There's no news of the traditional carnival at marina bay, probably due to the constructions there?

My house is lacking of all the important chinese new year goodies man! No pineapple tarts, no bak kwa, no cashew nuts, and the list goes on.

I want my pineapple tarts and bak kwa.

happy birthday, zhengyu!

First of all, happy 20th birthday to zhengyu. It is kinda sad, spending his birthday in camp today. Hope he had a grand celebration or belated celebration this weekend.

I slept quite early yesterday, at around 8plus at night. It must be due to the supper and then playing lan throughout the wee hours on Saturday night. We only ended at 5am in the Sunday morning. My eyes were damn dry after that, must be staring at the monitor for too long. Intially my friends and I only wanted to have some supper at the thomson road prata house, the lan gaming after that was rather impromptu. But it was great fun, the price reasonable and the place looks good with decent computers and comfy armchairs. And you even can have prata at the 24hr prata house whenever you like.

Later in the Sunday afternoon, I went to watch Babel with some of the 3a people. The show was quite a profound movie, with alot of subtle messages lying around for you to pick up. A lot of things for the audience to analyze, the characters' reaction/behavior etc. I thought the story about the japanese girl was quite good especially the nightclub scene as it alternated between the noisy, chaotic scene of the nightclub to the silent inner experience of the deaf-mute girl. I thought the way the movie portrays the emotions of the characters very well, the love between loved ones, the anguish, the helplessness, feeling alienated from the society. The soundtrack played nearing the end of the movie was good and I wondered what was written in the note that the police inspector got from the girl. The night scene of the skyline of tokyo skyscrapers was cool too.
