A Day at the Zoo - Kraft+ June Challenge

Hi there!

I haven't had a lot of time this month to enter any challenges, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to create a layout for the June challenge at Kraft+! This is the challenge:

So the criteria for this month is that you must use a Kraft base for your project and include both circles and animal print. I've had photos of my son's 3rd birthday when we spent the day at Taronga Zoo waiting to be scrapped for 5 years and this was just the inspiration that I needed! So here is my layout:

"A Day at the Zoo"

I gave my Silhouette Cameo a good work out for this layout! I didn't have any animal print patterned papers, so I decided to create my own using an animal print cut file from the Silhouette design store. Once I created the animal print cards using cardstock, I then cut them into circles to back the circles background cut file. I love how this technique incorporated both the circles and the animal print onto my layout!

Here are some closeups of my layout:

I created my title using another cut file from the Silhouette Design Store! I decided to cut it in black cardstock so that it would really stand out against the background and then I mounted it with foam tape to give it some added dimension.

A closeup of my journalling :)

Most of the stickers on my layout are from a pack by Reminisce that I've been hoarding for about the last 5 years waiting for when I finally created a layout about our day at the zoo! Glad to have finally put them to use!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and taking a look at my layout! Thank you also to those who leave a comment - I do love reading them and appreciate each one!

Stuck?! Sketches June 15th DT Reveal

Hi there!

It's time for another sketch to be revealed at Stuck?! Sketches!! Take a look at the awesome sketch that Laura Whitaker has created for us this time...

I think that this sketch is so versatile and I love all the different layouts that the design team have created with it! I decided to use the sketch as a starting point for a double layout. Here's what I created...
"Cutest Little Pumpkin"

You can see that I included most elements from the sketch, but just enlarged them or stretched them to suit the double layout. I just love these photos of Eleanor trying some pureed pumpkin for the first time... She looks so excited and happy sitting up in her high chair, but then after she tries the food she looks quite confused! She didn't mind it too much, though I don't think she actually swallowed any!

For my layout I used the Kaisercraft Tropical Punch collection - I LOVE the gorgeous bright colours in these patterned papers!

Here are some closeups of my layout...

You can see in this cluster here that I've included the doily and leaves that are on the sketch. I also added a flair and a couple of paper roses from D-Lish Scraps. The 'Super Cute' sticker is from My Minds Eye, as is the one that I've used for my journalling.

How cute is that pumpkin?! You'll find it in the Miss Kate Cuttables store. As Eleanor was trying pumpkin for the first time in these photos I thought it was very appropriate! I've also included another flair from D-Lish scraps, a couple of Kaisercraft stickers and a Maggie Holmes vellum piece.

When I also saw this title in the Miss Kate Cuttable store, I knew I had to use it on this layout and I decided to make it large so that it was a feature of the layout. It was time consuming cutting it out of all the different patterned papers and then arranging it on my page, but I think it was well worth the effort!

If you haven't done so already, I hope that you'll pop on over to the Stuck?! Sketches blog and take a look at the amazing layouts by my fellow design team members! We would love you to play along with us by creating a layout inspired by this sketch and linking it up on the Stuck?! Sketches blog by 29th June! The randomly chosen winner will receive a prize from one of our very generous sponsors:

Stuck?! Sketches June 1st DT Reveal

Hi there!

I know that we say it all the time, but boy this year is flying by so quickly!! Here we are in June already!! The good thing about it being the start of a new month though is that it is time for a new sketch reveal at Stuck?! Sketches! And our design team are super excited to be teaming up with The Cut Shoppe this month!

First let me show you the lovely sketch designed by Laura Whitaker:

And here is my layout based on this sketch...
"The Great Outdoors"

My photo is of Abigail and Isaac from a couple of years ago enjoying 'the great outdoors' on one of our frequent trips up to the Wattigan State Forest for the weekend. Instead of using two vertical photos, I used one horizontal one.

I used the following cut files from The Cut Shoppe on my layout:

https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/230024330/the-happy-camper-cut-file-includes-7?ref=shop_home_active_1&ga_search_query=happy%2Bcamper

The Wood You Be Mine background cut file is available in 8.5x11 and 12x12 sizes, for your scrapbooking and papercrafting projects.

The Funky Florals cut file includes 4 flower themed icons, that can be used for your scrapbooking and papercrafting projects.

I had so much fun playing with these cut files and I love how they look on my layout! If you haven't yet visited The Cut Shoppe I would highly recommend popping over & trying some of their cut files on your next project!

Here are some closeups of my layout..

For my title I used one of the phrases in The Happy Camper cut file. I mounted it up with some foam tape for some added dimension.

How cute is that little fox?! I just had to use it on this layout! I fussy cut it from a Bella Blvd card. You can also see here the leaves that I cut using The Funky Florals cut file. I cut them from white cardstock and then coloured them with some Distress Ink.

I tucked my journalling tag into the orange chevron bag. You can also see the background here which I created using The Wood You Be Mine Background cut file. I cut it from white cardstock and then backed it with stone coloured cardstock. I also backed three of the hearts with patterned paper to add some pops of colour and interest to the background. I love this background cut file and will definitely be using it again!

And here is one final closeup of my embellishing around the photo. I decided to shrink the circular element on the sketch so that it just framed the photo and I used the compass from the Happy Camper cut file to create the circle (I cut the middle out though so that it was just the outside circle with N,S, E & W). The little pine tree was also from this cut file! I love that I managed to include so many of the cut files onto one layout!

All of the layouts that were created by Stuck?! Sketches design team members' using The Cut Shoppe cut files will be featured over on The Cut Shoppe blog on June 5th, so be sure to pop on over to have a look, and while you're at it maybe purchase a cut file or two!

I hope that you'll head over to the Stuck?! Sketches blog and play along with us this month! Link up your layout inspired by this sketch for the chance to win a prize from one of our very generous sponsors:
