Cotton headed Ninnymugginz

Last Friday Nels and I went up to spend the night at Alexis' to chop down a tree on Saturday. She and I went shopping friday night, it was so fun. We left the kids with their dad and Nels, so that we could just have fun and get what we needed to without the hassle of children. I had a lot of fun with here, I absolutely love her! She's amazing!
So Saturday we woke up and headed up into the mountains. We drove for far too long to get to a tree. We drove like 5 hours, to a spot that on the way home only took 2 or 3 hours, explain that to me?? Ugh! Anyways so we drove up there and Nels ended up driving their prowler(supped up four wheelerish thing) and I got to be in the huge truck. Well we start driving up a one truck road, with snow all over it to get us a tree. Unfortunately the four wheel drive didn't work so we were all over the road.Fish tailing everwhere. I thought we were going to end up in a tree or worse someones trunk. I was terrified! We ended up having to park it half way up the mountain, and all pile in the other truck and the prowler. We hiked down the mountain to get the tree which means we had to hike back up now carrying said tree. We finally got our tree and headed down the mountain to the truck. I decided I would ride on the prowler with Nels even though it was FREEZING!! I really am a nervous driver/passenger I have come to find.
I made Nels stop on our way home to get us some lights and ornaments. We both have tons of ornaments, but left them at our parents. Our tree is cute, but a little boring for what i am used to. My mom's tree is so crammed you can't really see the tree, but I do love it anyways! Happy First Christmas to us!!!

A smashing Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving morning Nels and I were asleep in my old bedroom, on a bed far too small for two people. My mom came in and said hurry and get ready your dad had an idea in the shower that we are going to go up to the property and smash pumpkins. She was very excited about the whole thing. So we jumped out of bed got dressed and headed up to the property. (My aunt and uncle and parents have a few acres up past Heriman, Ut, however you spell it) We met my cousins, aunt and uncle, and brother Greg at Aunt Lynda and Uncle Stephen's home in Riverton. And we were headed off. We we standing in the snow and throwing them over our heads granny style. Nels was the first to throw and his technique was imitated and nobody really thought to do it differently.
When we had thrown all the pumpkins we decided that we would use the bats that Uncle stephen had brought, for some batting practice. It was totally wicked!!!! Everytime you hit a chunk of pumpkin it disintegrated and showered you with orange mist that smelled like of course a delicious pumpkin. At one point Nels was up to bat and hit the chunk and a piece the size of my fist came flying towards me and smacked me right above the knee. It hurt like crazy!!! Man that boy is strong!
We finished up and headed back to our homes to cook dinner all covered in pumpkin puree. Nels and I were really glad we didn't shower before we went. Yes, we did come home and shower!

Playoffs

Nels' team made it to the playoffs. For those of you who didn't know, Nels was assisting in the coaching a football league of 12-15 year old boys for our town. He is great at it, but we kinda had a crazy power hungry head coach who didn't like to listen to what other coaches suggested. They could have gone further in their winnings if he had only listened. Enough about crazy coach though. Saturday was the first day of the playoffs and if you won you continued on if you lost you were out. We LOST!!! (I was excited) I was ready to have my Saturdays back and the husband. So the game was about 30 minutes away in Esparta CA. A very small town of only 1,000. The football field is a football field and a baseball diamond. I don't know if you can see it in the pictures but part of one of the end zones is half dirt. We played against the Richmond Steelers. Ghetto town, but great players. They slaughtered us with a 33-0 lead until the last minute, where we finally got our 3 point field goal. At least I think that's what it's called. So the boys got a medal and we are done with coaching....probably til next year.

What's that smell???

Halloween was interesting this year. I made Nelsie and I our costumes. You would think that sewing fake fur onto sweats would be easy. Well maybe for some, but for sure not for me. i sewed undid and redid about ten times before I finally got it right. Even then it wasn't perfect but passable.
We went to a party on Friday with some couples in our ward. It was fun, except that every person there made the same joke. "Are you standing by the door because you don't want to smell up the room." hahaha people really funny. No we were in sweats and in a house full of people it's warm. The door was open and right in front of the door was 10 degrees cooler. It was a fun party though.
Then on Halloween we went to Jeff and Alexis' (Nels sister) for a little party. There weren't many adults dressed up, but those who weren't looked like the weirdos not us. It was basically just a hang out. It was fun weekend.

Masks

Nels is the greatest! The other day when we were watching a little tv after practice I decided that i wanted to put on a self heating mask and Nels actually did it with me, and wore a headband, and didn't fight a bit about it! Secretly I think he likes it. He feels pretty and likes an excuse to have a clean face. if anyone asks he can blame it on me. "i made him" or "I put a gun to his head until he did it." You know something lame. But he was great and I love him bunches.

JACK-O-LANTERNS!

Friday I dropped Nelsie off a Jamba Juice because he was close to home at one of his dealerships. When I got there I asked him what we were going to do because hey, it's the weekend you're supposed to do fun stuff. And Friday is the only day of the week he doesn't have football practice right after work. Normally I just ask him what we are going to do because I know he doesn't have anything in mind and doesn't really want to leave the house. He likes to come home from the long hard week of work and relax for the weekend. I on the other hand have worked maybe 15-20 hours that week and want badly to do something fun with him. So anyways when I asked him what we were going to do he without hesitation said "carving pumpkins." This thrilled me, because this is what I remember doing one monday out of the month of October with my dad and siblings(usually just Rebecca).
We drove to the pumpkin patch, parked, and then made our trek into the patch. Which was quite a walk!!! Whoever planned that must have been a man, because no woman would make you walk that far to get a pumpkin, and then have to walk all the way back carrying a huge bazillion pound pumpkin. We walked back to our car buckled the pumpkins in their rightful place in the back seat and headed home to perform surgery and pull out all their guts.

There hasn't been much going on here in the Johnson apartment. We, I am realizing that we are pretty boring. We have finally figured out why married people are so boring, and we are happy to join all the rest of you.
This last Sunday Nels woke up with some weird looking eyes so he opted out of church. Then on Monday I woke up with some eye thing. Mine was just from sleeping with contacts in so that infection went away after a few days and new contacts. Nels' doesn't want to go away his eye is looking terrible, but he doesn't want to go to the doctor to get it looked at. He'd rather just walk around the house "blind." He's been hilarious! He tells me he's dying, that he's going blind, and the other night he put a tissue behind his glasses against his eye and walked around the apartment with both eyes closed using his hands to feel his way to the bedroom and bathroom to get ready for bed. He is so tough until it comes to something hurting. I being the good, caring, loving wife sit and watch and laugh hysterically. Yeah I'm pretty awesome!
Hopefully in a few days he'll either realize that it's not getting better and go to the doctor, or it'll get better on it's own. I'm hoping for the second.

My tomatoes!

So, my tomatoes have just started to turn red. They have taken FOREVER!!! So the first picture is the one I took today. The rest are of my tomatoes before there were even tomatoes on it, and of the cutest baby lizard that lived under the planter for a couple of weeks before it was too big. It was so adorable so i had to take pictures so that someone else could see it because Nels wouldn't come see it when I yelled at him to come look. Anyways Ramblings I know, but you are the one who started reading and haven't stopped yet.

Newest addition

The newest addition to the Johnson family! Tuesday of this week Nels and I drove out to Santa Rosa area and picked up our "brand new" truck. Best of all it was FREE!!! It runs great! It's a 1965 Ford 250 3/4 ton (whatever that means) with 105,000 miles on it. It's awesome! Nels is like a giddy school boy when he looks at it. He sent me a picture of it on my phone the other day when I was at work just so that I could see it. It obviously needs a little work; body work, rust, brakes, reupholstering and just some cleaning up.
I know I know you're thinking. How did they get a free truck? Well, Nels went into one of his dealerships and the owner of the shop had an older man bring it in and sell it to him for $1. The owner of the shop didn't want it, so he let Nels trade some product for it. It's a good little truck the only problem I see with it is that it's a stick shift! Nels says it's a little harder to drive. So I guess we'll see how that goes.

Flushed Away

So if any of you haven't seen the movie Flushed away then you are sadly leading a life not worth living. (Don't go kill yourself if you haven't) It is hilarious I laugh everytime I watch it, and I have seen it alot. I have watched it probably 20 times since being married, which is only 3.5 months. I watched it once on Sunday because Nels put it on. I thought he would be sick of it, but since he started it I just had to watch it too. Then i wanted to watch it Monday since it was my day off, so I watched it then later that day I wanted to watch it again. I decided that twice was a little much for one day so I waited til Tuesday and watched it yet again. Nels walked it from work to catch me watching it once again. He laughed, we made popcorn, and then he changed it to NewsRadio. And now I am watching it as we speak. I started writing about it and realized how much i missed it and needed to refresh my memory.
It is so funny, the Mafia rats that work for a toad, are the moronic type you can't seem to hate. There are slugs that are constantly singing and make all the background noise. Everything that you would laugh at the first time you saw it, you will laugh at the second, third, and fourth times. If you're me, more times after that.
Soooo....GO WATCH IT! Get on your couch, in your pjs, and enjoy.

Nels and I are planning on going "home" for Labor day and I can't wait! I am soooo...excited. Now we just have to wait and see if we can get off work to make the trip there. Not that I don't like California, I am trying very hard to love California the way I did when I came to visit. I hated it when I first came here and cried myself to sleep most nights, but it is getting better and I am actually start to like it and soon I know that I will love it! I could not be happier being married to the most adorable, and funny boy in the entire world. He makes the harder days worth it, and not as hard.
