White Christmas!

This Christmas was a very special Christmas, it was the first Christmas Matt and I got to share alone! We were not really sure how to handle it at first because we were supposed to go to Colorado and spend it with are friends. Well long story short that didn't happen:( Although we were not able to spend Christmas with any family or friends it was one of the best Christmases in my book! It started out Christmas eve with lots of junk food movies and a drive around base looking at others Christmas lights! Then we pulled an all nighter that's right folks we stayed up till 12...hehe Ok I know its really not considered an all nighter but when you get married it seems like your body's internal clock says bedtime is at 9! We got up around 7 that morning to open presents from Santa and each other!! I'm going to make a list of things we got cause I always love to know what other people got and I figure others do to..hehe

Matt: 50" TV, surround sound, survival knife, watch, 2 Hurley sweaters, harry potter movie, and manacula.
Melissa: Couch, curtains, shirt, old navy gift card, book shelf, area rug, flip flops, wireless keyboard and mouse.

As you can see we got hooked up for Christmas!! Later on that afternoon we made a yummy turkey dinner with homemade stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, corn, salad, cranberry's, and rolls! It was so yummy!!! I have to toot my own horn because I have never ever made a turkey or stuffing from scratch! It was soooo soo good!! The turkey was so juicy it was falling off the bone and everything was soo yummy! I'm excited to try again! Then we stayed up kinda late playing with our new gifts, watching movies and enjoying one anthers company! Oh and the best part is we had a "major" snow storm the day before Christmas eve and it lasted till about the day after Christmas! It was a good size snow for the state of Texas! The best part is its almost all gone and the weather looks like its getting warmer;) I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and I'm excited to see what this new year brings!

Dinner for two!

No we are not Jewish but....

Ok so i have to explain this background. We obviously are not Jewish but one year when Seth and Jayne had just started dating we all got together to celebrate either Seth's birthday or Chelsea's birthday I cant remember who's it was now.(I believe it was Seth's cause we had a conversation I remember about not wrapping his gifts in Christmas wrapping paper because it was so close to Christmas) Anyways Jayne being the hilarious person that she is totally wrapped her gift in Jewish wrapping paper! We all thought it was soo funny and hilarious we laughed about it for like 20 minutes. I know it may not be funny to a lot of other people but for those who were there that fun filled night will get a kick out of it and that's all that matters!! LOL!!! Jayne oh how I miss you dearly and this ones for you...heeheheheh!!!

P.S. I hope this does not offend any Jewish people...

Thanksgiving!!

My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving and this one was very nice! It was a nice relaxing day of playing cards with the family, hanging out with my little brother, and just enjoying being in Montana. The best part of all was dinner!!! We had so much food!! My mom went all out we had a turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, carrots, broccoli and cheese, salad, string beans, rolls, stuffing, pumpkin pie, apple pie, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and peanut butter cookies! We had so much food and not enough time to eat it all!! Later that evening after i was so full we went over to Michael and ems to hang out. We had such a good time though! We helped em put up the Christmas tree and even put ornaments and all on it!! Maddie was so flippin cute! Em plugged the lights in before we started to put the ornaments on and Maddie took a couple steps back looked at the tree and went "aaawwwww" ok this so melted my heart it was so cute that em and i went "aaaawww" Then every time Maddie would put an ornament on the tree i would go "awww" cause then she would look at it and point and go "aaaawwww" We had such a fun time hanging out with them and we miss them ooohhhh ssssooo much!!! It was nice to have Matt with me finally! It felt like we were dating almost again. Then after thanksgiving matt got so sick we couldn't go black Friday shopping the next morning:( Its ok though Christmas is coming up so i still have to do all my holiday shopping! I'm usually done by now thanks to Chelsea and her excitement to have shopping done by like June and Christmas up the day after thanksgiving!! hehe Sorry there are not pics in this blog I forgot my camera in the car all thanksgiving day!! Now we are in Abilene Texas waiting for the movers to come and unload our stuff! That will be my next post so there will be so many pics in that one it will make up for this one! Until then i hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving and i miss you all very much!!

Bozeman Fun!

Today was a very productive day for the Bird family! We left the house this morning to watch maddie at her swim lessons, took care of some housing issues, watched our stuff being packed and inventoried, took my little brother to play basketball with the MSU Bobcat basketball team (men&women), and went on a little date to pita pit! we had such a fun day and really do miss Montana...just not the snow!! Hear are a few pics of the fun day we had...

Sorry these two pic are blurry they were taken on my phone and action shots on my phone are not the best. These two pics are from practice on tues night not from the bobcat practice. Its 10 at night and i really don't feel like running out in the cold and grabbing my camera!

SNOW =(

Matt and I came back to Montana to visit my family and pick up our stuff to get ready for the big move down to Texas! We are hear until the end of November and are having a fun visit! We are getting excited for Calvin (my lil sis's hubby) to come visit! In the mean time Matt and i have been playing with our niece Madison, hanging out with my brother and sister, eating out at the local restaurants, and Matt is doing some recruiting! The only down side is it snowed. Not just a little snow a LOT of snow!! I am usually sooooo sooo excited for the snow because those of you who know me means a lot of hiking up forbidden trails and skiing the worlds best mountains in Montana! I love skiing and everything that comes along with it! For some reason this year I am very bitter about the snow!! I hate the whole having to waste gas warming up your car, your toes being frozen all the time, the bottom of your jeans constantly always being wet, scraping off your car and in the meantime you freeze in the cold, and just everything else! I know most of you are thinking I'm crazy right about now but when you live in a state that only sees sun 3 months out of the year you would understand! Well that's all the complaining I will do for now..hehe In the meantime I'm having such a fun time hanging out with family and friends and trying to keep warm!!!
I know it does not look like a lot of snow on the ground but trust me there is a ton!

LOL!! one of the last times we will have to scrape the snow off are car every single day!! Husbands are truly the best!

OK so i know this pic is hard to see but its matt making an asain face...lol I dont know why but im going with we were out on a date at daves sushi and since sushi is like asain he decided to make an asain face?...lol Alls i can say is i love him!!

Me at daves sushi!!! MMMHHHMM such a good place!!

Fun in the Fall

Chelsea, Payson, and I went to an apple orchard today and had a blast. Chelsea had to pick some apples for an enrichment activity. We had so much fun picking the apples and hearing payson say "apples" It was seriously the sweetest thing I have ever herd. After the Apple orchard we decided to go explore the royal gorge bridge. We had a blast on the way up we discovered that there was a train for kids that took you up to a sight you could see the bridge. The train ride was so much fun and view was amazing! It was such a fun day and so beautiful out!

How could you not love this guy?

So happy for the train ride!

Ok just so everyone knows how brave we wear there were no seat belts on the train and no doors or side railings! This view is from the train as you can see not very far from the edge!

On the way up to the bridge we spotted some deer! We laughed as we were taking pictures because we were totally acting like we had never seen deer before!
