Hello to all our loved ones and dear friends from afar! As our adventures keep us long distances from those we love, our hope is that this journal of memories will keep us close at heart! Let the journey begin

Man discovers tool

My little boy makes me laugh so much. Yesterday he discovered that if he uses his pacifier to bang on his crib in conjunction with yodeling when he awakens from a nap... mom comes in quicker... so, that happened twice and now I think it's time to start the "binky retirement"

This is how mommy gets dinner made :)

The rules have changed...

Luke is crawling... on the go & busy busy busy! Yesterday I came around the corner & Penny was lying on Luke's blanket (usual) and Luke was lying in Penny's bed (soon to be usual, I'm sure) Check out the video: Luke on the go

Destination Folly Beach

It's been WAY too long since I've updated our blog... the little baby is now a crawling growling bundle of energy! Spring FINALLY came to Indiana and we had a wonderful time celebrating Rob's graduation and commissioning with many loved ones and family. 2 days later, Luke & I were off to SC...unfortunately I brought a nasty flu bug with me in the car. The road trip was rough to put it eloquently, but little boy stayed healthy at least.

We arrived at our new home... a condo on Folly Beach that Rob picked out! I was in disbelief when I first walked into our new place! It's finally sinking in now that we get to stay here for a whole year (hopefully). It's such a blessing to live in a place that we'd vacation to in a heartbeat- and turns out Luke loves the beach too!

Rob had a month of leave and it was amazing! We beached it, downtowned it & kicked it for more than 30 days- Bob & Karen were here when the moving truck came to help with much of the grunt work and to keep the little boy entertained (Thank You again & again & again). By the time Rob got here we were pretty settled in thanks to all their assistance.

Rob officially started Power School last week and has already had his 1st test (1 of 24, I think). It's rigorous coursework with LOTS of memorization, but he's doing great. Luke & I manage to stay busy throughout the days while Rob is at school. He's a good errand runner and even helped me unload a grocery bag yesterday! Once he turned 6 months, he turned into a big boy apparently. He took of crawling last week and well, the rules have now changed. His favorite game is "get the puppy dog tail" and Penny is a very willing participant  :)

So, there's a QUICK 5 month fast forward and a commitment to being a more regular blogger :)

Luke's First Month

Luke's second week involved a few trips out n about in Lafayette to the grocery store, hair salon & visits to see friends!
He did not enjoy his first bath, but we quickly discovered it was the fact that he couldn't be totally in the water yet... He LOVES bath time now that his belly button can get wet and so do we! It's so fun to watch him lay his head back in the water and float so relaxed and peaceful. It's part of our bedtime routine now
My sleepy boys...neither one wanted to wake up
Never too busy for a much needed nap though :)
Luke's next visitor was Godmom Krista who came to help out & hang out!

Luke helped celebrate his Dad's 27th Birthday at our favorite Sushi restaurant after a day out at the mall! The sushi roller said as soon as he is old enough he can come back for his first roll on the house because he was the littlest patron they had ever had at the restaurant!
Happy Birthday Dad!
Father-Son Day... Dad took boy to campus and the armory!
A few days later Grandpa Paul came to meet his Grandboy!
Great Grandma & Great Grandpa came too! He's the first grandbaby & the first great-grandbaby on both sides... so lots of excitement all around!

He fit right in to Great Grandma Ginny's arms
And Grandpa's too!
4 generations
We had such a special time together! It was a great visit filled with some great memories
Future tractor buddies
4 weeks old and growing by the minute it seems
One month old
Luke's first time out for Mexican... He wasn't too impressed

Home alas- Luke's first week!

Once we got the little man home it was time for more introductions...
Penny aka Nanny dog is great with Little Lucas! She is really gentle around him and she can tell that he is really something special. She gave him a couple welcome licks to spike up his little hair-do and then settled right in to watch over her boy :)
Mitty Kitty snuggled right in and has been even more sociable since Lucas came home!
Grandpa Bob arrived from Florida to meet his future fishing buddy!

Our first week was filled with cuddles from Luke and relishing in the newness of our little boy! The Grandmas did a great job of helping out and sharing wisdom and Dad took the night shifts while I got tried to get some rest- though it was tough to settle down from all the excitement and joy! Our second night home I just rolled around in bed for a few hours loving every new sleep position I could lay in now that my big ole belly was gone and my achy back was better! Our bodies are sure designed to do amazing things!!!

Lucas is a delight! We quickly got into the swing of things and before we knew it, it was time for our company to head back North & South! The first thing we did as a family in a quiet house was crawl into our bed with Lucas and Penny & Mitty followed suit. We had our first Ohana snuggled in our warm sheets while soaking in the moment- What a great memory!
