Light Grey Art Lab "Girls - Fact & Fiction"
The “Girls - Fact and Fiction” show opened last friday at Light Grey Art Lab!
I am very honoured to be part in this show (there are so many great artist in it again!!) but it was also very hard to decide for one girl. In the end I went with Ofeliá from Pan’s Labyrinth, which was quite a challenge. When I started sketching I wanted to put so many things from the story in this illustration, but realised the show is about the girl and not so much about the story. So I kept most of the things subtle in the background.
There are also prints of all the pieces from the show available HERE and a Girls book with all the pieces in it: here is a PREVIEW.

Calendar
This is an illustration I did two months ago for the book-calendar of my illustration group in university. We were completely free to draw everything we like. So why not some blackberries and a mouse.

LGAL Tarot Prints and Opening
Last weekend the Tarot, Mystics & The Occult Exhibition opened and it seems it was a wonderful night! The Team wrote a lovely blogpost about it, I unfortunately couldn't be there because I live here in Europe.
Photos by LGAL
There are also big beautiful prints of the Tarotcards available now. To see them all click here. You can decide if you would like to have the Tarotcard-style or the normal poster.

Detective Swap
I took part in a Detective art swap on Ten Paces and draw and got a lovely sketch from Levi Hastings to work with. (Everybody of the participants has to do a sketch which get swapped and one has to do a final illustration to the sketch one received.)
I stayed pretty close to the sketch, you can see it and the other swap participants here.
And this was my sketch, which Levi had to do a final illustration to:
Coincidentally I had a similiar idea like Levi. ;)

Practise illustration
From time to time I do these practise illustrations to draw some things I usually avoid drawing, because they seem hard to draw.As I can't avoid all this forever I paint these pictures. This time I wanted to paint some water. And a background and a man.

Naive Diversification
I also attended the FAS class again this semester, in which we are doing little editorial-jobs for the German newspaper "Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung". This one was about "Naive Diversification", which means that you try to invest in many different stocks to reduce the chance of failure and losing all your money.

Bachelor project: Bar
This is one of the last pieces I did for my bachelor project this semester. I illustrated a short story by a famous american writer,(who nobody seems to know in Germany) but I won't say which one, just that the story is from the early sixties. Maybe you'll see when I post the cover.
It's actually one of the last scenes from the story, but I wanted to post it first, because I like it best.
This was the very first sketch and it's pretty rough:

Grandma
Long time no post! I've been busy the last month because of university, so I just did some small drawings and experiments, which I posted over at tumblr.
This one is actually for a competition of an art community, which I'm a member of. The topic was "Our heroes", which is pretty boring actually. But I thought I could draw my grandma, which taught me a lot of stuff about nature and animals and went on bike rides through the countryside with me outside of Berlin. I loved it and I still know the things she taught me.

Collaboration with Frederik Jurk
I did a collaboration with talented illustration pal Frederik Jurk. He drew the motorcycle, I drew the girl and then he drew a design for her shirt.
Go check out his tumblr-blog, look at his motorcycle in all its glory and follow him immediately. :D

Jazz and draw: Hiromi Uehara
Just a quick piece I did for the wonderful project "jazz and draw", which brings jazz and art together. I drew Hiromi Uehara, because I loved her energy on stage and the fun she seemed to have playing her music.

Fashion, fashion, fashion
This is just a preview of a little drawing I posted on my tumblr, as I didn't want to post the whole piece here. There were some things which were bothering me about it (stupid pose included)and I didn't feel comfortable with it. But maybe you'd like to see it anyway...Click!

First Aid Kit Portraits
bigger version
As mentioned in my last post, I drew portraits of the two girls from First Aid Kit. I'm not super satisfied with the likeness, but it's close enough and it was a lot of fun to do. I didn't do a realistic portrait for at least 9 months, so this was a good exercise as well!

First Aid Kit
Bigger version
I love to listen to girly music when I'm drawing and "First Aid Kit" is one band I'm listening to a lot recently. It just makes me want to draw flowers and pretty girls all day. Actually I wanted to do realistic portraits of the two girls, but then it became more of a mood picture and I didn't care about likeness anymore.
After I finished this piece I decided to do the real portraits anyways ( which was a lot of fun) but I will post them tomorrow or on Wednesday.

Testing alchemical effects
This was a little sketch/illustration I did for the illustrated Skyrimblog "Skueruem", which just started recently and features skyrimfanart of illustrators.
I'm just able to play it sometimes, because I have to play it on my boyfriend's PC, since mine is reeeeeaaally slow. I always thought it's funny that you can eat the ingredients to test their alchemical effects. You can eat toes of trolls, hearts of humans, butterflies... Awesome!
I set up a tumblr-blog for sketches I do while strolling through Hamburg and maybe there will be some sketchbook drawings too... I'm not sure yet.

Boys and Girls
I'm really busy with a personal project right now, so I don't have as much time for experimenting as I would like to have. But I managed to draw those two at least. I always try to get more of this sketchy feeling of my sketchbook sketches and drawings in my illustrations, though I often fail.
But I think this time...I got it!

Painter
This might look a bit different from the illustrations I usually do, because I used painter for the whole picture and drew only some details in photoshop. I'm taking a "Painter"-class this semester and I have to draw two pictures in Painter for that to show that I'm capable of using Painter. So I started without having any idea about the final painting and I ended up with this.
I think I like it. Sometimes it's nice to just draw and not think about to much while doing it.
I took two process shots at the beginning but then forgot to take some more during painting...So just these two then:

There you are!
I had to do a piece with the theme "agent" for my art rep. I was a bit unproductive in case of drawing any real pictures after the holidays, so I just practised stuff and played around until I finally started the drawing. I played a bit with textures again and tried to leave the guy as simple as I could and not get bogged down in details, like I do sometimes.
Here are the sketches:

Fashionable Cover
Happy New Year everyone!
No, of course I didn't work for the Vogue, but we had the assignment to draw a fake cover of an existing fashion magazine in my fashion illustration class. So the first one that came into my mind was the Vogue! I guess the piece is not really fitting for the Vogue but I love those dreamy nature fashion editorials, which were the inspiration for this.
