A Missionary Blog Post. What Did You Expect??
Its funny how something as little as an e-mail can change your entire day. In the middle of September I got this e-mail from an investigator from my mission, Ola:
There aren't even words for how happy this e-mail made me. It was one of those moments in life where Heaven just seemed so near, and everything I did as a missionary was so worth it.
But, I would like to introduce you to Ola. Ola is from Nigeria. He has the coolest accent, and when he texts he uses a "dee" for the word, "the" I love it! He came to The United States and studied to become a doctor. So today, he works as a Doctor in the NICU at the Children' Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Everyday, as he would drive to work, he would drive past the Kansas City Missouri Temple. So he saw it from the beginning, a hole in the ground, to the beautiful and majestic building that it is. Ola was naturally drawn to the building, so when he heard there was an openhouse for the public he attended all by himself. The first time we met him and he told us of his experience, he told us about how he'd been to many religious mosques and cathedrals all over the world, but he felt something he'd never felt before in the temple. After that, he found out one of his co-workers at the hospital was a member of the church. So they talked about the temple, and this coworker gave Ola a copy of the Book of Mormon, and referred him to us.
I will never forget the day that my companion and I showed up at Ola's door. He had no idea we were coming, and we had no idea what to expect. All we knew was that his last name was really hard to say. The reason I will never forget that day is because of the spirit that was felt in Ola's home. Ola was so prepared. We taught him once a week until I went home. He watched the Joseph Smith movie and said that he, "knew that man must be a prophet of God, no man would go through that if it wasn't true." In all of our lessons with Ola we just sat there in amazement as he told us he knew that this was the path he was supposed to take and he had been prepared for his entire life. Well, with this kind of response, one would think he would want to get baptized as soon as he could. But, Ola told us that he wasn't ready yet, that he wanted to commit himself 100% to this church, and he wanted to make sure he was ready for that. He' even started paying his tithing, something you don't have to do until you're baptized! Well what more could missionaries ask for? But, to make a long story short, Ola is getting baptized on December 1st! And guess who just purchased a plane ticket? I could not be more excited to see him get baptized. Ola insisted on paying for half of it. Ola is a very special person, and I know Heavenly Father has great things in store for him. I'm so grateful I went on a mission and Heavenly Father was nice enough to let me meet him. To let me, out of all of the sister missionaries He could have chosen, to be the one to knock on his door that day. I am so grateful.

Valentines Day
I'm a little late, but this Valentines Day, Joni & I were in for a little surprise!
Tren & Kevin had been very vague all day, and we had NO idea what was going on.
we THOUGHT we were going to a nice restaurant, so they told us to dress up.
They picked us up, and then proceeded to drive around the block and then ended up back at their house, we were so confused.
They told us to go upstairs for a minute so they could get everything ready, and we stumbled upon this:
And the best of all, this was found in the secret back room that is a closet in a closet, where no one ever goes and is used for storage:
We couldn't believe it!! Joni & I are so lucky and had the best Valentines day ever!!
Thanks boys. :)
