Holidays in a hurry!

Sorry about my last week's post.......I forgot to hit publish (it's a blonde thing)

This week I am sharing an accident that turned out better than the original idea.

On a heavier cardstock, paste LX7016 Season of Joy:
with Pearl paste.

Sprinkle a bit of crystal glitter on the star, trees, and verse.

This is where the mistake came in; I was in a hurry to finish my moms birthday card.  Did the same steps as above, but with a flowered stencil.  Do to my rush I started heating it from underneath.  What I found was the paste bubble more evenly through the thicker cardstock than it did from above or from beneath a standard cardstock weight.

So heat from underneath.  Watch it rise, I love it!!

(The picture does not do it justice.  It's much prettier in person)

Matt and done!  This stencil can be power stenciled if you use the LM 2010 Paste Spreader.
I can usually get four or five before I have to clean my stencil.  For the size of stencil, I thought that was pretty good.

Continue on to see more quick ideas (and sometimes not so quick).

MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS & Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Looking forward to 2014.

Holidays in a Hurry

It's that time of year again.  Time to remember friends and family.  And enjoying the season......don't I wish.  It's the time of.....I should have started earlier......can't forget to......still need to...... etc!

I always have the best intentions this time of year but inevitably I forget something or someone.
This months theme is quick and easy.  Need a card in a hurry, we have ideas galore for you.

This week I started with LG 674 Oval ornament:

Paste with Red Glossy Paste.  Let dry.  Cut out.  Use a piece of Pine Tree decorative paper.  Attach Merry Christmas ribbon to front of ornament with double stick tape.  Attach ornament with double stick tape (three layers in the center of the ornament) to front of card.  Cut two slits one on each side of the tree bough.  Thread ribbon through slits.  Tie to top of ornament.  Done!

Check out the rest of the teams sites for more quick Holiday ideas!!

Holiday Celebrations - Everything but cards!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

This is our final week of the Dreamweaver November challenge...Holiday Celebrations, also know as, Anything But A Card! This has been a big step outside the box.  I find cards come easy, but coming up with ideas for the decorating my new home and for gifts has been a wonderful adventure.

This week I am still keeping it simple again.  I made a decorative tree with Dreamweaver Snowflakes and Beacon Adhesives.

First cut three semi circles from cardstock.  Each slightly smaller than the last.  Paste two snowflakes on the two larger pieces and one on the smallest with Pearlescent paste.  Sprinkle a soft blue glitter over them and let dry.

Next attach pearls to each tier with Beacon Gem-Tac, let dry.

Next using Beacon 3-in-1 Craft Glue (There is nothing this glue can't do!  It's my new best friend), glue the ends of the two largest pieces and the full edge of the smaller piece.

Finally assemble.  I attached mine to a papertowel tube.  My friends little girls saw it and wanted to make their own.  It was great fun!!

Hope you enjoyed this months creations, make sure to see the incredible creations of the rest of this weeks group!

This is also our first posting day featuring our new monthly challenge, "Holiday Celebrations", and for the entire month we will be demonstrating ways to use Beacon Adhesives' entire line of products with Dreamweaver to create special projects in home decor and gifts of love. Here's mine:

I recently purchased a home.  In trying to decorate on a budget, I have found my ideas don't match my pocketbook!

I've been looking for a square red tissue cover for the bathroom.  I can't find anything less than $30 (budget $7.50).  So I decided to make one.

Cut 5 pcs of  chipboard 5 1/2" square each.  Cut 5 pieces of red paper; 4 - 5 1/2" x 5" & 1 - 5 1/2" square.

Using Beacon  3-in-1, Zip Dry and Gem-Tac we'll put it all together.

Cut hole in one square for tissues to come through.

Glue box sides together with 3-in-1 glue.

Using the three reindeer stencil LL467 Three Deer.

Paste in gold on each side panel.
Score top 1/4" on each edge.  Score sides 1/4" on one side.
Using Zip Dry adhear top first, folding the edges over the top.  Attach sides the same way.

Finally using Gem-Tac, draw squiggles over top and drip off sides.  Cover with glitter.

Set over top of tissue box and .......................

Tah - Dah!!!!  You have a custom Tissue Box cover.

Make sure you contine through the rest for more creative ideas.

I decided to make a note pad holder.  I started with chipboard and the Beacon 3-in-1 Craft Glue.  Cut chipboard to the size needed.  Glue the binding chipboard to back piece of chipboard.  Using book cloth spread the 3-in-1 Craft glue over the book cloth.  Cover spine and a portion of the front and back of book.

Emboss front paper cover with holiday stencil.  I used LL468 ornaments.  Stencil gold pigment ink over image.
Spread Beacon 3-in-1 Craft Glue over the back of the front paper and back paper.  Butt up against book cloth press flat.  Let dry.  Miter corners and spread Beacon 3-in-1 Craft Glue over back of paper.  Fold over.  Glue strip of ribbon over seam in front and back.

Using Distress Paint add polka dots to book cloth and back paper cover.  Let dry.  I also covered the top of the note pad.

Adhere a piece of ribbon in the inside front cover and back covers.  Line the book with book cloth that has 3-in-1 glue over the back side.

Tape back of note pad and attach inside.  Tie ribbon and your gift is ready for giving!

Mysterious and Magical - week three

I hope you are enjoying being spooked, mystified and magically transported to the land of Halloween and holidays? Hop on board the Dream Team train as we journey through all things Mysterious and Magical through the month of October. Our guest "engineer" is Miss Eerie herself, Alison Heikkila. October promises to be a very bumpy ride...

In honour of all the Halloween specials, I patterned this week after the Charlie Brown, Great Pumpkin tv special (one of my favorites!!).

Start with LL515 Pumpkins

Paste front with Yellow Matte Paste. Clean and flip, paste again with Yellow Matte Paste.
Stencil with pigment inks.  Cut out.

Then dry emboss LL3029 Dog and stencil color with pigment ink. (I flipped him before I embossed).  Cut out

'

Attach pumpkins with 3-d foam mounting tape.  One layer for the pumpkins over dog.  Double thick for the pumpkins on the left to make them appear closer.  Set dog over pumpkins to decide how much of him you want to appear above the pumpkins.  Cut off just below this mark.
Add double stick tape to back of dog and slip in behind pumpkins.

Make sure you check out the rest of group 2, to see what haunting ideas they have!!

Mysterious and Magical - Week Two

I hope you enjoyed the first week of being spooked, mystified and magically transported to the land of Halloween and holidays? Hop on board the Dream Team train as we journey through all things Mysterious and Magical through the month of October. Our guest "engineer" is Miss Eerie herself, Alison Heikkila. October promises to be a very bumpy ride...

I decided to go "Magical" this week.  Dreamweavers Stencil LG705 - The Unicorn always makes me think of magical, mythical fairy tales.  So does the upcoming TV show "Once upon a time in Wonderland".  Creepy good..................I digress............

LG 705 Unicorn

I used the double glitter technique for this one.  Generally you do the image in a dark glitter and the background in crystal glitter.  I decided to reverse it.  I used the crystal and pastel colors on the pony and the dark on the background.

I added a lite gold to the horn and hooves.  Then lite pink glitter to the mane and tail.

I can see him flying through the nite sky of my imagination!

Travel on to find more magical mysteries:
