6 kids?
It doesn't seem real that we have 6 kids. It really doesn't. The number sounds so big to me, but when we're all sitting here, it doesn't seem like it at all. It only starts feeling big when I see laundry for 8 people start to pile up or when it needs to be put away. Or when they're all crying or pouting at once... then it seems like a lot! But it's fun... it's crazy... and it's all worth it!

Happy New Year!
2 days after Christmas, Ezra started throwing up! That only lasted 12 hours, but then he got the big "D". It's not fun changing "D" diapers. He's now had it for 5 days and we have been stuck in the house since Christmas and haven't been able to invite anyone over at all! Poor Ezra will walk up to me and say... "Mom, Deah Riah... with a big sad face." It's funny, cause how he says it sounds like a name we would name one of our boys. haha! So since Ezra has the "D", we couldn't invite anyone over or go anywhere for New Year's Eve. Since we've lived in this house, that's what we've done. I'll be honest, it's not a whole lot of fun playing games with my kids, because they usually fight or Ezra destroys the game somehow. But I wanted to make the evening special for the kids. Create good memories. So I made homemade pizza, which is aboslutely delicious and a special treat for us... because I make nothing homemade! And it was and still is a tradtion in the Meyer Family. I also bought chips and dip, which we never ever have. And candy and cookies, which we never have! And I made microwave popcorn, which we never have... I always make the airpop stuff that isn't as good the kids say. Aaand... we had soda! Which we never have! So the kids thought it was amazing and kept saying, "Wow mom, you didnt have to do all of this. Wow mom, you're amazing!" I don't hear those words too often... so it made me happy. We watched some tv and played some games. The kids actually got along and had fun... but Ezra did destroy the games that we tried to play.. Sorry Sliders and Bingo. But all was well! Then we had rootbeer floats, which was a tradition in my family. The kids loved it and were so happy all evening. That made me happy! Then 10:45 pm came.... we usually celebrate New Years Chicago time.. so the kids can experience it and have fun and get to bed and be happy the next day. I decided to see if they can stay up til midnight and they were all talking smack how they can. 10:45pm... I turned on some dance music for us to all dance.. and that lasted a whole 3 mins. before the kids were crying or pouting about something, I was so mean and laughed at them for crying over nothing! As a parent, you have to laugh at stuff like that, so you;re not ticked off all the time! The crying and pouting continued, but I just ignored them. Where was Jason during all of this, in and out of napping. I kept the music on and encouraged the happy kids and we had fun... the happy ones that is. Finally, midnight was here and we watched the ball drop in NY and we all, but Isaiah, went outside and yelled and screamed and hollered and banged pots and pans together and had a blast! We were the only ones on our block though. No one else was home. But there were a lot of big fireworks that were going off around the neighborhood and out by the river. It was a lot of fun at about 12:05am... I sent the kids to bed! They were tired! So that was our NYE 2012!
New Year's Eve was fun.... I don't know if we'll stay up until midnight next year too, because they are all tired today since they got up at their normal 7am time this morning. I got up a couple times this morning and changed some diapers, but then i went back to bed and stayed in bed til 11:30am. It was soooo nice! Then I came down stairs, made lunch... leftover homemade pizza. And made the kids go outside to play. It was beautiful outside today! Like 60 degrees! So we all went out and spent most of the day there.
It was a nice warm day! Happy New Year!! 2013 is gonna be an eventful year! Aaaand.... today is my brother Dustin' Birthday! Happy Birthday Dustin!!!

Our Boys
When we heard Uriah was going to be a boy, I thought to myself... "Heavenly Father has quite the sense of humor!" 4 boys.... 3 of them being ages 4 and under. I love it though. Despite the fact that it seems to be a lot of testosterone in this household. Constant wrestling matches or karate matches or boxing matches. My brothers were not the aggressive type at all while growing up. They never ever wrestled or fought physically. So for me, it has been quite the adjustment with my boys that definitely took after their dad. I'm still getting used to the aggressiveness, and I don't think I'll ever be used to it. But boys will be boys, right? They're not always fighting to hurt each other, but they're just messing around and someone always gets hurt. I'm curious to see what Uriah will be like! But I love them so much and wouldn't want it any other way!!
Christmas 2012
Christmas came and went so fast! I'll be honest... I was out of it this season. With having Uriah in November and trying to recoop and adjust to a new baby. And my calling at church and trying to figure it all out. I was out of it during the month of December. But, we still had fun! I tried to focus more on the true meaning of Christmas, but found that I was just trying to survive day to day and wasn't able to serve others and think about others like I normally do. Oh well, it's all good!
So, my parents usually have a Christmas Eve program. We haven't been for a few years because the driving up on Christmas Eve and then coming home and then driving back the next morning just became too much for our growing family... and for Jason and me. They decided to do it on Sunday instead of Christmas Eve, so we were able to go up. Here are a few pictures from it.....
| Uriah is always pulling some weird face when I pull the camera out. But this is a beautiful picture of Shelby! |
| Here's the group while my dad is reading the story of our Savior's birth! I love my family! |
Christmas Eve consisted of us running around trying to get things done and delivering chocolates to some friends and looking at Christmas lights and then the kids went to bed. I had most of the wrapping done. But apparently Uriah didn't want me to finish up. Jason helped, but isn't an super fast wrapper like I am. And Ezra was up... so Jason took him upstairs while I finished up and didn't get to bed til 1:30am.
Isaiah woke up at 4am and woke the other kids up too! Doh! I told them that we are not opening anything until 6:30am. Well, I got up at 6am and the kids were all ready to go. Ezra was the only one still asleep out of the kids. Jason had a tough time getting up, but finally did at 6:30am. The kids finally opened their presents. I felt bad because the older kids got more, naturally, because they needed clothes. Elijah didn't get clothes... so he had less to open. He was tired and bummed that he didn't have more to open, since the older kids were still opening theirs. And it didn't help that I lost one of his most important presents... a Skylander. He quickly got over it when they started playing their video games. Then it was time to get Ezra up... it was hilarious see him.

Usually we get ready right away and go up to Oroville. This year, I had Jason take a nap first, so he'd be happy throughout the day :-) and I wanted the kids to be able to play with their toys a little bit before we left. So we finally left here around 10am. And went to my parents house first. My mom always make a delicious Christmas morning breakfast. It was fun hanging out there and opening presents! I didn't take any pictures really, just took video but it won't download on here today.
After my parents, at about 2pm, we headed over to the McOmber's. The kids opened presents and we hung out and ate dinner. I would take more pictures and video in the McOmber household, but when I do, adults seem to leave the room. So I just don't pull out the camera. It was so nice hanging out though and spending time with family.
After the McOmber's, we headed over to my Grandma's house. My Grandma Meyer is my last living Grandparent. She is going to be 89 years old in a month. And she is seriously the most wise and wonderful person! She has a hard time with her health, but she doesn't give up and spent so much time trying to get things for the kids. It was so nice of her. We love hanging out with her and having her here with us still. I'm thankful our children can know her and have her a part of their lives.
